This is a weird little punk rock cafe that does breakfast, lunch, dinner, and is a bar at night. I came here last Sunday with my partner for brunch, we were both starving. We sat down and the server took our drink orders immediately, and then we ordered food not too long afterward.
The servers were friendly, but the place seemed wayyy understaffed - there were like two or three servers for the whole restaurant, which was completely full on a Sunday morning. Not sure if someone called in sick or if it's usually like that. Our coffee order seemed to take a while, not sure if it actually did or if we were just in need of a warm drink. We waited and waited and waited for our food. We watched the people behind us (who got there after us) receive their orders, and the people around us who had arrived after us, receive theirs. We watched them finish their food, and ours still hadn't arrived.
We finished our drinks and one of the guys working there came over to take our cups and ask if we wanted anything else. We told him that we were still waiting on our food, and he went to check on it. Turns out the order was never put through to the kitchen (or, as they said, they were "having problems with the kitchen receiving dockets", which if that is true, they should probably be making sure that each order gets through.
Anyway, when the staff found out that our order hadn't been put through, they offered us free bevvies and put our order first in line. I got another soy capp and our food came out miraculously fast after that.
I had a breakfast bruschetta, which was alright. Nothing to write home about, but it was alright. Presentation was standard, definitely not insta-worthy, but it's a bruschetta. It was tasty, but standard. My boyfriend ordered the eggs benny and liked his alright as well.
All in all, they handled the snaffu pretty well, but servers should be paying enough attention to notice when a table is waiting almost an hour without receiving their meals. Then again, they seemed understaffed, so I'm not sure this would have been possible.
I probably wouldn't go back, as there are better cafes in Cronulla that cost the same amount. read more
