This is also how I'd react if a person walked up and offered to shove a bunch of needles into my skin for $50. I don't like the abrupt jolt of high speed bone movement chiropractors promote, and acupuncture makes me feel like there's a mean ghost stabbing me with plastic toothpicks. Desperation led me to Dr. Corey Piva at the Pleasant Hill Chiropractic Office a few weeks ago, when I noticed my body had decided to suddenly fall apart overnight. I was unable to rotate my head, bend over, or basically do anything more complex than merely exist. Dr. Piva was super-nice and listened to all the dumb crap I had to say. Then he hooked me up to a machine which electrocuted my back for 20 minutes. If you were to see me and offer to electrocute my back for $40, I'd say you were too late; I already paid a professional back-electrocutioner for the same service. Dr. Piva helped me regain the general form and posture of a human being over the next few days, and his popping and snapping sessions didn't freak me out at (unlike all previous chiropractors). His entire office is full of overtly nice, friendly people who politely laugh when they think I'm telling a joke. His adjustments have truly helped me, even though I'll never let him or anybody else shove hundreds of tiny needles into my skull.

Wow- was I pleasantly surprised! I had never been to a Chiropractor before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I received the adjustment (Dr. Gilkison was very patient, gentle and listened to my concerns before doing anything- and I feel a lot better after just one adjustment!) The acupuncture portion I received in 2 parts: First, she did a general pressure point acupuncture treatment (on my arm/ elbow, knees and ankles), and then later she did a second acupuncture treatment on the back of my neck. Then, when I told her I was plagued with sinus infections/ problems, she used an electrolysis thing (not sure what it is called- an "actuator" maybe?) on my sinuses and it has really helped my breathing/ relieved my sinus pressure. Basically, Dr. Gilkison and the entire staff (including the "Office Tom Cat", Pepper, who jumped up onto the table to lie on my stomach and purr during the massage bed portion) was friendly, knowledgeable, patient and very thorough. *FYI- If you aren't into cats, the staff checked with me several times and informed me multiple times that they would put the cat in the back room if I wanted.* I feel like I got way more than I paid for and have already made another appointment to return.
