Yanes Rain Gutters - Unprofessional and Aggressive Behavior…read more
I had a terrible experience with Yanes Rain Gutters. The owner, Darvis, displayed a complete lack of professionalism. After his employees made a clear mistake--cutting nearly two feet off my existing downspout instead of attaching a simple 4-7" extension--Darvis became aggressive when I brought it up. Rather than owning the error, he told me he'd only fix it if I paid an additional $250 for a new downspout, even though the damage was entirely caused by his crew.
Instead of taking responsibility, Darvis raised his voice, cussed at me, and called me a "psycho." He also made bizarre and unprofessional remarks like, "Do you know Karma? Karma will come back at you" and falsely accused me of not wanting to pay--despite the fact that I had already paid over $600 as a deposit.
He later called my husband and admitted that he had taken his frustration from another job out on me. He offered to come back and fix the mistake, but that didn't change the fact that I was left with damaged gutters on both sides of my property--and a demand to pay more for something that wasn't my fault.
What should have been a simple repair turned into a costly and stressful situation. I've since hired another company to fix the mess Yanes Rain Gutters left behind, and I have documented the damage with photos.
To make matters worse, Darvis also refuses to stand behind the quality of his materials. A previous job he did for me started showing signs of discoloration, and when I raised the concern, he brushed it off by saying, "That happens over time." For the record, "over time" shouldn't mean less than 2-3 years--that's simply poor-quality product or installation.
This company does not stand behind its work. The owner's behavior was hostile, degrading, and completely unacceptable. I would never recommend this company and will never hire them again.
I have posted reviews on multiple platforms to warn others and have sent emails AND complaint letters to CSLB and BBB regarding his business license.
As a paying customer--and more importantly, as a woman alone during this confrontation--I felt incredibly vulnerable, disrespected, and verbally abused. No one should ever be treated this way by someone they hired for work on their home.
Rating: F- (ZERO stars if possible).
Response to Darvis (Yanes Rain Gutters):
Darvis,
Your response is misleading and does not reflect the reality of what occurred during our interaction. Let me clarify:
1. The damage to the downspout was caused entirely by your crew. You were hired to install a simple 4-7" extension and connect it to the existing gutter system. Instead, your team cut nearly two feet off the downspouts on both sides of my property, which was unnecessary and not authorized. That's what created the entire issue.
2. The problem was not about color -- it was about poor workmanship, unauthorized alterations, and your refusal to take responsibility. Then, instead of correcting your crew's mistake, you attempted to charge me an additional $250 to fix what you damaged.
3. You absolutely raised your voice, used profanity, and called me a "psycho" in front of witnesses. I felt verbally abused and intimidated in my own home. After that behavior, I had every right to tell you and your workers to leave -- especially as I was home alone.
4. For the record, my home has 16 security cameras that clearly captured the entire interaction -- including your tone, your words, your crew's actions, and your repeated suggestion that I "call the police," which I agreed with. All of this is recorded and documented.
5. You called my husband and admitted that you were angry from another job and took it out on me. Yet in your public response, you're changing the story and deflecting blame, making it seem like I overreacted or didn't want to pay. That's false. I had already paid you over $600 as a deposit, and I only refused to pay more because you tried to upcharge me to fix your own error.
6. Lastly, I will continue to share my experience to protect and warn other homeowners from being treated the way I was. You do not get to verbally abuse a paying customer, damage their property, then rewrite the story to protect your reputation.
Furthermore, I have documentation of harassing behavior, including multiple calls and texts from different numbers pressuring my husband to "make me take down my review." This harassment is also recorded and stored through my home security system for legal purposes. Video of interaction and photos will be attached to this and other web servers I have reported as well.
