There's a nice variety of dumbbells, barbells with three weightlifting stations, and two full rooms of lifting equipment. They also have a Body Pump room with kettlebells, jump boxes, TRX bands, and a great space for stretching. One of the big attractions is the climbing wall, and they also seem to offer fun camps for kids. Just note that renting the harness and shoes is an extra cost on top of your membership. The locker rooms were recently remodeled, but you wouldn't really know it. The facility still looks a bit dated and some areas could use repair. The vibe is good overall, and the staff is pleasant, although not quite as welcoming as I'm used to at other gyms. That said, I'm still glad to have High Altitude as a convenient neighborhood gym.

Ive been to plenty gyms and I'm mostly into resistance strength training, calisthenics, and swimming. Yes i tried the rock wall a few times and love it but i work so much so usually hit my basic lift routines to make work great. Live the towel service. Thats a nice privilege. Ive been to several gyms across many major cities in the house. Mostly commercial. This one has both family owned and commercial vibes. It can handle high volume with its variety and size. Then it can be slow and mellow at certain parts of the day. Never really had any issues except the time when someone was blowing up the stalls every morning and i asked if they had air fresheners spray and they said no management/owners don't really care about those things. Hmm maybe nobody has brought this issues to their attention then. Went out of my way at raleys and bought the air freshener myself and everybody was stoked so im glad they let me do that haha. There is one staff i keep catching though that never washes his hand after using the stall or urinal. I would tell the manager to talk to that guy without embarrassing him but i guess they dont have one at the moment and that's understandable. Hopefully they hire a great one here soon :) As a home gym i love the ambiance , price, location, equipment, classes and members. If the hours could be 5am - 10pm for the summer and winter that would be fantastic, at least for me.

It turned out to be quite a workout and definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone, but I'm so glad I did it! Our guide, Andrew, was amazing. He was encouraging, patient, and made me feel comfortable and safe the entire time. I was definitely scared at certain points, but I always felt like I was in good hands. He also took so many incredible photos, so we didn't have too. I almost didn't sign up because I saw the high wire in the photos on the website and thought there was no way I could do that! Fortunately, on the 2-hour tour, the wire we crossed was low to the ground. It was definitely wobbly, but I felt safe because you're clipped in the entire time. It is more physically demanding than I expected, so I highly recommend eating a good meal beforehand, bringing water, and making sure you're well hydrated. The 2-hour climb was just right for me and felt like a real accomplishment. My 19-year-old son, on the other hand, loved it and wished he had signed up for the 3-hour climb. Overall, it was a really memorable experience and something I'd recommend to anyone looking for a fun challenge and a little adventure in Tahoe--even if you're somewhat afraid of heights!

Probably one of the coolest things we've done in a while…read more Imagine an adult-sized playground with tons of things to climb on, rope bridges to walk across, and 100ft tall trees to conquer. That's the ropes course here. As we didn't come in a group, we paid $52 a person and honestly thought it was totally worth it. Luckily, not that many people signed up for the morning session and so aside from us and another couple that we were friends with, we only had to share the whole thing with a family of four. The guide is great about explaining the basics of belaying, calming fears, and yelling encouragement. Once you get the basic instructions, you're set free to go climb and all the various things (of which there are plenty). Our favorite was the 100ft tall tree with a gorgeous view at the top and the "leap of faith" where you jump of a 35ft stump to try and catch a trapeze 3 feet away. Overall, whether you're a climber or a newbie (which describes the two of us) it's a great time with lots of different level of challenges and certainly leaves you feeling like you've conquered the world.

I recently took an AIARE level 2 Avalanche course. The instruction was good but about halfway…read morethrough the day I fell early on a ski descent on a moderate slope with variable terrain and fractured/ dislocated my ankle. There was minimal to no assessment of my injury and I wound up sidestepping/ sliding/ skinning back to the car a few miles away with essentially minimal help/support. When I mentioned that I couldn't bear weight on my injured ankle I was instead given advice to "keep your weight forward and lean into the fall line". I was in a mild to moderate degree of shock by the time I reached my car. No one outreached me afterward. When I reached out to Tahoe Mountain School after the event with some constructive feedback the response that I received was " Sorry, we heard that the issue was due to lack of skier ability". I'll be the first to admit that my skiing ability was indeed severely compromised by a fractured ankle that required surgery but somehow they seemed to miss the point about doing a basic assessment. As a physician and SAR volunteer (unknown to those in the class) I'd grade the response to real life backcountry injury an "F" and the company's response to feedback as tone deaf.

Instructor was very knowledgeable and a good teacher…read more He took us to a location down the road to get to the backcountry, helped us learn how to use our gear, we hiked in with our backcountry skis, he taught us how to ascend, do switchback turns, and again, set our gear for downhill. Also taught us how to use our beacons, and the procedure for skiing with a buddy. Excellent course far exceeding my expectations, and I am excited to have this new wonderful hobby.

So far we've worked with Cody and Ryan and both provide very tailored, helpful instruction along with drills and game play to keep you moving. The whole team is energetic, engaging and clearly talented tennis players themselves. As an adult learning tennis later in life, I've worked with a number of instructors on different vacations and this team is by far the best. I can finally serve! The location is in the middle of nature and is stunning (you can even hear the stream in the background). We're staying at the Ritz and it's a quick 10 minute drive over so very easy for those staying at different properties. We've had such a good time that we booked private instruction and an adult camp for the additional 4 days of our vacation! Definitely recommend checking it out.

I started with NASTC as a weak intermediate skier having tried several other highly touted ski "camps". The instructors at NASTC took the time to really dig into the reasons I wasn't progressing (physical fitness, focused equipment choices, fear on challenging terrain) and helped me set up the building blocks for real success. I made so much progress in my first week with them that I immediately booked a second course. I've been skiing with NASTC every winter since (and in some of the most beautiful locales in the world: St Anton, Portillo, Chile, Verbier, La Grave!). NASTC helped me develop from a "blue groomer girl" to a confident skier that doesn't think twice about tackling black and double black terrain. Booked a private wakesurf charter through GetMyBoat, paid in full 3 weeks in advance. Received a…read morebooking confirmation and then a text 3 days before confirming the trip was on. This was a special outing for my daughter and her three college friends -- their only weekend in Tahoe together. We drove 45 minutes to the meeting spot and paid $10 to park. Arrived at the dock 15 minutes early and called Jeff to check in -- straight to voicemail. Minutes later, GetMyBoat sent a cancellation notice. No call, no text, no explanation from Jeff himself. Weather was perfect, and four other boat groups were being picked up at the same dock that morning, so there was no weather-related reason for the cancellation. We did get a refund, but nothing makes up for losing the girls' only chance at a day on the lake. If a last-minute cancellation happens, the least you can do is call your customer directly instead of letting them find out by way of a system notice. Very disappointing and unprofessional -- I would not recommend booking with this company.
