My healthy dog came in for one rabies booster shot and six monthly flea/tick pills, and for this I…read morereceived a bill of over $400. VCA insisted he couldn't get a rabies shot without a full "wellness exam" ($160 and less than 10 minutes), in spite of the fact that my dog already had a full wellness visit from this same vet less than six months prior. They then charged $102 for a rabies booster and $145 for the six flea/tick pills. The bill was "only" $400 because I refused the other services they aggressively tried to push (with an estimate totaling over $1000 for this routine visit).

I called around the Newark area and a-lot of vets weren't taking new patient appts. Finally a friendly voice picked up the phone at VCA and they scheduled an appt the very next day. We took our dog in and everyone was very nice and accommodating. Dr Cruz checked my dog and examined her paw with extra care. She explained everything and answered all of our questions. She prescribed an antibiotic and within 3 days her swelling had gone down significantly. The dr office went above and beyond by checking up on my dog every 2 - 3 days including sending a txt to see how she was recovering. Appt cost was on the higher side $130 however included a month flea pill and definitely worth it! After one week my dog is back to normal. Thank you VCA and Dr Cruz

We loved NLVC when we started with them. Everyone was great and our dogs were loved by the vets…read moreand staff. We have changed vets for Jasper, our 13 year old Jack Russell/Besenji mix. Our Kolby passed on 12/22/25 with undiagnosed (by NLVC) kidney cancer, he was 11 years old and very active in July. On August 5, 2025, we took Kolby to NLVC and saw a "new to us" doctor, Dr. Callan, because he had a seizure/passed out over the weekend, not eating well, vomiting and peeing in the house. Dr Callan did a urinalysis and Sr. Wellness Panel. Kolby was put on Proin for peeing in the house. (One month prior to the seizure, Kolby had a wellness visit on July 10th with a "new to us" doctor, Dr Paul, and everything was ok). After the seizure he acted like he felt fine but we obviously wanted him to be checked out. Dr. Callan did the bloodwork and said for us to just watch Kolby and video him if he has another seizure. The bloodwork showed everything as pretty much normal and the Proin seemed to help with the uncontrolled peeing. On September 2, we had Kolby's meds refilled (Proin and something for nausea). On November 18, 2025, we took Kolby back to NLVC and saw another "new to us" doctor, Dr. Omlor. We took Kolby because he was losing weight due to his decline in appetite, vomiting and chewing his hair off. Dr. Omlor gave Kolby IV fluids and an injection for nausea. Keep in mind, my husband and I trusted this veterinary clinic and thought we were doing the best for our Kolby. On December 9, 2025, due to Kolby's decline in appetite, weight loss and hair loss, we took him back to NLVC. Again, he saw Dr. Omlor for a recheck. Kolby had a significant behavior change in the past week. He was barking at nothing, staring into corners and peeing in the house again. Dr. Omlor said that "The behavioral changes you're seeing could be related to something called cognitive dysfunction syndrome, which is similar to dementia in people." At this point we should have asked them for x-rays, but we aren't doctors. By Saturday, December 13th we headed to Urgent Care in Newark. They immediately performed x-rays and found a mass in one of his kidneys. They made us an appointment for Monday morning at Pinnacle Veterinary Specialist in Glen Mills, PA. They performed an ultrasound and found that the kidney mass was cancerous and had now spread to the other kidney. He also had a blood clot that could move at any time. They suggested that it would be compassionate to go ahead and euthanize him. We couldn't leave him there. We opted to bring him back home and make him as comfortable as possible. We did and one week later we had to let him go. There are no words to say how much that little Prince was loved and horrible to think how much he suffered from August to December. We truly believe if we had a regular vet who was the only one he was seeing, they would have suggested other measures to diagnose him. NLVC failed us. We called today to get Jasper's records and I let them know about Kolby. The girl who answered the phone didn't identify herself and when I said something about the vet revolving door, she said that they "have a lot of veterinarians". We needed consistency and someone who would love our dogs. There have been several staff members there who were wonderful and we also love Dr. Meredith and loved Dr. Gruber. Unfortunately, Dr. Gruber left long ago and we never see Dr. Meredith anymore. It also appears that many of the staff members that we loved so much have also left the practice. The young lady who answered the phone today was just doing a job. No heartfelt compassion - all that I got was a "sorry for your loss". Yes, and we are sorry that we have to leave and cannot recommend your services. RIP our sweet Kolby - aka Little Prince...

Took him to VCA people's plaza and vet said it was an ear infection and put my cat on medication ear drops. Vet said his ears should not have been cleaned. Ten days on ear drops, and infection is gone. Looking at reviews on yelp, and my own experience, I'm wondering if the "vets" at New London are really vets? Is there any kind of agency that checks on this kind of stuff? Anyway, don't take your animal there if you care for their wellbeing.

They helped me manage her thyroid issues which gave her 5 more great years with me. They saved her from a life threatening infection that gave her 4 more great years with me. They sat there with me and worked with me while I cried about trying to afford all of her care on my own. They truly truly care about your pets here. When I graduated and was semi less broke that kindness never stopped. I lost her on Monday and just picked up her ashes from them today and was met again with nothing but kindness, literally willing to stay open late to make sure I could get there on time. I have nothing but great things to say about this vet office and their staff. Thank you for everything

Unfortunately, after her passing the business was taken over by a managing chain. It has now become just another big vet chain business with more automation but less customer service when it's most needed - making initial contact with the company to schedule an appointment. It's nearly impossible to call to schedule an appointment and speak with a live person. When calling, you get the option of leaving a message for a callback or holding on the line. the problem is that no one ever picks up. I've tried calling four times since December and each time I have yet to have a live person pick up my call from being on hold. I'm beginning to think it's time to downsize to a smaller practice where I can actually get a hold of someone when needed. Playing phone tag or email tag is no longer cutting it.

Both of them could often look at your dog and see what was wrong without expensive tests. Whenever possible they taught us how to care for our dogs at home rather then sending them to an emergency facility overnight. In September we found that our last dog had cancer. I never regretted driving from Wilmington all those years and if a foster appears I will be making that drive again. Special thanks to Kenny Roberts for keeping Debby's dream alive and going bigger. Great staff and much love was their winning recipe and it continues today.

Vet had next to zero bedside manner barely said hello to my dog after a 25 minute wait. Didn't explain anything to me and was left alone for another 15 minutes to wait on what he declared was an estimate. Not a prognosis or explanation that would be delivered by someone else that obviously hadn't even seen my dog. The vet came back in again and said it would be a little longer before someone came back at which point I said Diego was having a horrid experience and if anyone was actually going to come soon because he was having a really tough time. To which he declared isn't everyone and wouldn't we all like to leave quickly. That passive aggressive comment almost got him popped, but I had already waited an hour and my dog really needed an allergy shot. After 10 more minutes I left the room and asked them to send me the bill which we would have paid, but then magically someone was available to take care of Diego. The other tech, maybe, rattled off over 1200 worth of things we should get done if we could afford them, super insulting btw. They said he had an infection which was a lie after taking Diego to a different vet several days later. I asked for all my paperwork with their "estimate" they lied and gave me only the receipt for the examination and allergy shot. Upon going to the next vet I asked if they could get his records from VCA and all of that estimate magically disappeared. They took blood while we were there and had no documentation as to why. Do NOT take your pets here. This is the first negative review I've left in my 46 years for anything in my life. I've left many a positive review as well to put things in perspective. I waited several weeks to calm down before I wrote this so believe it or not it probably should have been worse. Price tag for what we did have done 350 next vet same shot and examination with much better care was half this.

The pet shop covers the first visit, so I figured I'd give it a shot and see what happens. I was a little worried because I didn't like the last vet I came across because she was always so rough with my poor cat, so I wasn't sure what to expect at WCC. I immediately knew upon the first person I encountered that I was going to enjoy the visit. Everyone here is SO NICE! Super friendly, extremely accommodating, and evidentially people who care about the animals. I was lucky enough to meet Dr. Spencer, who I completely adored from the moment I met him. He's funny, sweet, and super knowledgeable. He was so gentle with my little chihuahua and explained everything he was doing along the way. My little guy did not seem bothered AT ALL, which relieved me immensely. He and the staff gave me some excellent recommendations and tips that I truly appreciated (especially with being a first time dog mom). I live an hour and a half away, but coming here is worth the trip. I know I'm in good hands with the staff at WCC.
