Throughout the three-hour workshop, we were guided through exercises that gave us the opportunity to slow down, focus on one another, connect through intentional touch, and be together without the usual distractions of everyday life. As the only gay couple in the workshop, we felt completely welcomed and included, and never felt that the experience wasn't meant for us. We left feeling noticeably more connected, and that feeling continued into the days afterward. It was a thoughtful, unique, and genuinely meaningful experience that gave us dedicated time to reconnect with each other in a way we don't often make space for in everyday life.

I was going through a tough time and met with the Love Gurus in their Hollywood home, with dim lighting and a cozy setting. They said many insightful things that put some of my experiences in perspective, to this very day. We did energy work, breathing, and some movement at the end of the session. Then they followed up with homework every week for six weeks. Out of all the books I've read and therapy I've tried to get through the recent challenging times in my life, I have to say that this experience actually gave me the most noticeable shift. I was battling with sadness, feelings of being stuck, indecision, and powerlessness trying to navigate it all. Between the bridging session and the homework after, my mind shifted to a place of control, lifting me out of the previous lead blanket I seemed to be carrying around. We all have those moments that we feel a shift and seem to have moved on from a hurtful situation, or gain power in our lives. This was the experience with Love Gurus. I will add that the homework really solidified the therapy and worked the effects into my everyday life. My partner and I went to her for couples counseling and sex therapy and I was constantly shamed by her. There were some things she was helpful with, and she was very sweet, but overall did more harm than good. My partners lack of pulling their weight in the relationship and displays of toxic, borderline emotionally abusive behaviors were immediately shut down by her. I was told not to "shame" my partner and asked "why I allowed it." When my partner admitted to their lack of follow through on things that made them unreliable, I was asked if my "daddy trust issues" were the reason. And then we moved on. My mental exhaustion from my partners lack of taking responsibility and attentiveness was instead framed as me having an iron deficiency. In which's he called her sister into the room and prescribed me supplements. She's not a medical doctor. She heavily colluded with my partner, rarely holding them accountable, and kept telling me I needed to just get in touch with my feminine goddess energy and just initiate sex more. It was truly an awful experience. Even such, her replying to reviews on here, admitting to the other poor review that she doesn't know them breaks confidentiality, something an ethical therapist would know. She is a sex educator and that's it. I wouldn't trust her with trauma or actual relationship issues other than trying to improve your sex life (and only if there are no other issues present).
