Be wary. Stephanie is NOT a therapist. She is not registered or licensed with the Board of Behavioral Sciences, which is required if you are to provide therapy. My partner and I went to her for couples counseling and sex therapy and I was constantly shamed by her. There were some things she was helpful with, and she was very sweet, but overall did more harm than good. My partners lack of pulling their weight in the relationship and displays of toxic, borderline emotionally abusive behaviors were immediately shut down by her. I was told not to "shame" my partner and asked "why I allowed it." When my partner admitted to their lack of follow through on things that made them unreliable, I was asked if my "daddy trust issues" were the reason. And then we moved on. My mental exhaustion from my partners lack of taking responsibility and attentiveness was instead framed as me having an iron deficiency. In which's he called her sister into the room and prescribed me supplements. She's not a medical doctor. She heavily colluded with my partner, rarely holding them accountable, and kept telling me I needed to just get in touch with my feminine goddess energy and just initiate sex more. It was truly an awful experience. Even such, her replying to reviews on here, admitting to the other poor review that she doesn't know them breaks confidentiality, something an ethical therapist would know. She is a sex educator and that's it. I wouldn't trust her with trauma or actual relationship issues other than trying to improve your sex life (and only if there are no other issues present). read more

Our marriage was in serious trouble when we went to see this therapist, and we put our trust in her. Stephanie raised red flags for both of us, and we agreed that neither of us liked her approach. Later, we found out that she had told both of us separately that the marriage was over and that we should get divorced. In my opinion unless there's abuse going on, I don't think a good therapist should ever give you advice like that. Especially when the whole reason you're there is to work on your relationship. I'm glad we didn't listen to her, but instead went to a professional and saved our marriage. Before you start therapy with Stephanie, I recommend you check out her TikTok account to see if she seems like the person you want to do therapy with. Her TikTok account is The Erotik Doctor (theerotikdoctor) .... read more

Stephanie is a tremendous therapist -- she has helped me SO much. I was dealing with a host of sexual issues for a long time in my life but due to some astute comments and observations she has made during out very first session in November, some repressed memories came up. It was no fun dealing with those feelings in my body, emotions, feeling the broken heart of stuff that happened so long ago that it was repressed and forgotten but the trauma was still there. Thanks to Stephanie -- I was able to find the root cause and while dealing with those emotions was no fun -- it gave me a chance to heal them. Only three years later and with some pretty intense therapy -- the issue is largely resolved and I feel lighter than ever! She is really great with trauma. This stuff is so heavy to process when it's coming up but much better than walking around with that heaviness all of your life. I would highly recommend Stephanie based on my experience, she is terrific. I would still be unhappy if I was still walking around pretending I was fine -- I was not fine. But now that I processed all of that bad stuff I can actually be happy. Thank you! No matter how bad the trauma, please don't lose hope. Regardless of what you went through, happiness IS possible! Hugs to everyone. read more

Dr. Stephanie has truly made a difference in our relationship. My husband and I were in a really dark place prior to visiting with Dr. Stephanie. We had been through a lot together but we were struggling to communicate issues and needs to each other. Dr. Stephanie was fully invested in listening and help us grow our relationship from the start. She recognized causes of issues that may have never been identified without her observations. She created exercises that felt thoughtful and have helped us to continually grow our relationship. She is extremely thorough and remembers past conversations so that every session feels productive. After several months of meeting with Dr.Stephanie it really feels like we're starting to see our relationship reach new heights. I am so grateful that we found such a thoughtful, caring, and sharp therapist to help mend our relationship. read more

Above everything else, I need to start this review to let anyone reading know that Dr. Stephanie has changed my life. In a matter of a few weeks she was able to help me get out of an extremely toxic 3-year relationship with a married man, help me heal a childhood trauma surrounding sexuality, and has coached me into loving myself and accepting my self worth. I've been working with her for a couple months now and plan on continuing until I reach a few personal relationship goals. The everyday person is not equipped with the skills or knowledge to help heal themselves all the time, especially in the realm of relationships, love, and sexuality. If someone is interested in getting professional help from a licensed therapist, I'd definitely recommend Dr. Stephanie Hunter-Jones. She is extremely professional in discussing serious topics while also giving the loving compassion necessary from a therapist. In sessions, we've laughed, I've cried, she supported, and I grew -- it's exactly what I've needed for a long time, and I'm so glad I admitted to myself it was time to get help. The structure of my therapy sessions began with a 5-10 minute phone call to discuss whether or not I wanted to schedule an initial appointment and whether Dr. Stephanie felt like she would be able to offer me the proper guidance. From there, we did our first session, in which she was able to diagnose the areas of my life where I was experiencing the most dysfunction (attachment issues, savior complex, etc -- the therapy was worth this awareness alone!!!) To have a professional help diagnose and address dysfunctional behavior from a psychoanalytic perspective truly does wonders, and its even better coming from Dr. Stephanie. She really helped me change my thoughts about what I deserved and helped me believe in myself. The following weeks involved talk therapy, coaching, and even a little homework with journaling and YouTube videos to help me heal. I've actually referred 3 of my own friends to her as well because I truly believe in the work Dr. Stephanie does. My goal with getting therapy was to get out of my 3-year toxic relationship so that I could actually find a more fulfilling romantic relationship elsewhere. At this stage in my life [and with Dr. Stephanie's help], I'm positive that I'm on the road to finding the love I've always desired -- but I didn't know that it would be coming from within! What Dr. Stephanie has taught me is that I must have a deeper, more intimate relationship with myself. I'm confident love will find me instead of me having to search for it with the desperation I've had my entire life before therapy. If you or someone you know is considering therapy for love, relationships, sex, or sexuality, I can say that from my experience, Dr. Stephanie has given me my life back, and I'm on the road to the next great horizon! read more

I quickly found there was no judgement from Dr. Stephanie and felt completely free to speak about a highly personal matter within a supportive nurturing environment. In the months of working with her she has already made a difference in my life. She listens, tough when she needs to be, but always coming from a compassionate and caring place. Her guidance had me looking at my situation honestly and objectively which was constructive, practical and exactly what I needed. She is enthusiastically recommended. A HEARTFELT AND GIFTED THERAPIST. read more

Meeting with Stephanie has been invaluable for me and my wife. From the first session with her, I felt very assured in how thoughtful she was in listening to our individual needs and issues. From all my interactions with her, she has gone the extra mile to make both me and my partner feel comfortable that we're in a safe space to express ourselves. Stephanie has also provided information on educational resources to expand our perspectives and help give insights into roadblocks we were having trouble navigating on our own. I appreciated how all the homework and exercises given felt worthwhile and made sense to our unique situations as individuals and as a couple. I'm very happy that we've been able to find Stephanie and feel that she has been a big difference maker in our lives. I would 100% recommend Stephanie to help bring a spark into your relationship or life. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Stephanie for almost a year and am so glad that I have. She's so intentional with every session and I can tell that she truly cares about my partner and I as individuals and for sure as a couple. I was very nervous to start therapy but those nerves didn't last long because her approach is such a great balance of honesty, compassion and work. I've felt so heard and understood, and enriched from her takes in these sessions. I feel that I should add that I am Black queer person, and I've felt very validated in all the experiences I've shared in relation to both of those identifiers. I so appreciate the work she's put into bettering my life and highly recommend that you take a chance on her. read more

Have been seeing Dr Stephanie with my wife now for a couple months and have already seen an improvement in our relationship. Dr. Stephanie provides a safe atmosphere that had allowed us to be more open and vulnerable with each other. We have tried other therapists in the past with little success, but we believe Dr Stephanie has been a much better fit for us and would highly recommend consulting her! read more

I don't have enough Dungeons & Dragons experience to qualify as an authoritative voice on the matter, but as another review pointed out- she may in fact be a sorceress. From the moment I walked in I was immediately at ease- and after only 20 minutes of talking with Dr. Stephanie, she was able to help me understand what my underlying issues were. It was an epiphany I had been waiting on for almost 20 years. Yes, 20 ****ing years. She also helped me realize, without directly pointing them out, which patterns of behavior I needed to work on. Telling someone what they "need to fix", is not as empowering as helping someone walk towards awareness on their own- and that's exactly what happened during my sessions with Dr. Stephanie. I don't believe there are enough adjectives to properly describe how positive my time with Dr. Stephanie has been. If you're considering making an appointment with her, I hope my review helps to make that happen- because I don't believe anything but amazing can come from it. read more

I've been to therapy once in my life. As a kid. It didn't do much for me... Perhaps I wasn't ready. I started seeing Dr. Stephanie after my girlfriend began working with her a few months ago... I've always been a very sex positive person, but have never been able to properly communicate my needs, curiosities and desires to my partner, or anyone really... Talking to this non-judgemental, open, lovely Goddess of a woman has opened up a side of me I'd kept to myself for a long time. During our first meeting, telling her about myself and my past, (I knew this somewhere deep down), but it was wonderful to have this expert tell me (among many things) that it was totally okay and awesome to let my freak flag fly. She's pretty incredible. Myself and my Lady both go to sessions with her. Individually and together. If you're having trouble with your sex life, single or with your partner, want to open new doors in yourself, or are just plain curious, GO SEE HER. She'll rock your world. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Stephanie for the past 3 months, and I can honestly say my time with her thus far has been life changing. She is so incredibly good at her job, and she's really helping me get to the root of my problems. She's the perfect mix of kind and firm - she's very empathetic but also really forces you out of your comfort zone to see the reality of things. I feel like I'm just at the tip of the iceberg with my work with her, and I have every intention to continue seeing her for the long term. Dr. Stephanie is the absolute best! Don't hesitate! read more

My wife and I were recommended to Dr. Stephanie and Connection Therapy by several of our dear friends. They all had exquisite experiences with her services and we found ourselves in need of some guidance. Our first session can only be described as pure magic, and each subsequent session proves to be more helpful than the last. Her specialties in anger management have been immensely valuable and after only a few interactions, I find myself with a series of tools that have helped me manage even the most stressful and emotionally charged situations. As a sex therapist, she knows exactly how to get to the root of any issue. My wife and I, being Polyamorous, find ourselves faced with a unique set of challenges that most heteronormative couples may not experience. Dr. Stephanie's guidance and care have aided us in navigating the ins and outs of relationships with other "Poly" folks. We are beyond grateful for her dedication to her craft. Her prices are more than reasonable and the hour long sessions are well worth every penny. As a couple, we have both had negative experiences in the past with most traditional western practitioners of therapy. Dr. Stephanie has surpassed all expectations and for the first time we are healing ourselves and making noticeable progress. We've been going to Dr. Stephanie for 4 months now and it has been a wonderful experience. I have been working with Dr. Stephanie for a couple of months now. I found our first session to be very easy to open up with her. I did not know what to expect and was therefore a little nervous but she naturally made me comfortable. She is intuitive and I was impressed how in a small amount of time and along with her guidance and tools, I could see things within myself healing and evolving into a better state. She is sincerely the real deal and what I had hoped to find in this journey. She will continue to be a part of my healing journey and I feel fortunate to have found her. We are a young couple in our 20s. Someone had told me its better to go to therapy now while we still love each other and want to make it work and boy are we happy that we did! Dr. Stephanie improved our relationship right off the bat. After the first session, my boyfriend and I had a major improvement in intimacy and communication. Dr. Stephanie dives deep into the root of the problem and we realized that there were deeper issues that had happened causing the strain on our relationship. Dr. Stephanie helped us resolve and heal the pain. There's nothing more refreshing than finding inner peace with yourself and feeling close again with your partner (which it consistently has). She knows what she's doing and I highly recommend her, super easy to talk to. Best therapist I ever had! read more

Dr. Stephenie is hands down fantastic. She is caring, warm, and extremely welcoming. The room is relaxing and full of beauty. She has done absolute wonders for our relationship. It doesn't matter who you are, how you're oriented, or how you choose your relationships, she will be there for you and help you dig deep to find the seeds of Destruction and squash them. She's extremely patient, yet asks the correct questions to get to the point. She doesn't just sit there and listen and wait for the time to pass. The tools that she gives you are extremely useful and also valid for these times. She creates a safe space to be yourself, and where you can be constructive in your healing instead of just defensive. Even if you do not have insurance, she's willing to work with you! I would recommend her for absolutely anybody who is in any sort of relationship, or has self-healing that needs to be done. Honestly I cannot say enough good about Dr. Stephanie. My wife and I had been going through some issues both individually and as a couple, and had been trying to meet with a therapist we connected with for a while. We tried a few times to no avail, when I finally stumbled upon this Yelp page. Cannot. Be. Happier. That. I. Did. She is a genuine, caring, and no-nonsense personality. In just TWO SESSIONS my wife and I were able to both identify and completely reconcile a lot of the feelings we were both experiencing, and finally had instruction on positive steps to move forward. This woman has legitimately changed our life and we will very much be continuing sessions with her for the foreseeable future. read more

My husband and I started going to Dr.Stephanie about 3 months ago and since then our relationship, in general, has improved. We have had a lot of breakthrough moments with her even in this short amount of time. We originally went for intimacy issues but we realized that it was deeper than what really actually see on the surface. We have been together for about 8 years and have been to multiple therapists, but Dr.Stephanie was honestly the only one we can relate to as an individual as well as a couple. Her overall vibe is just so comforting and welcoming. What we really like about the sessions are that she equally focuses on us as individuals but yet it ties into our relationship as a whole. She is very challenging to where she asks you all the right questions at the right moment to where you actually dig deep to find the answer. I love how she gives us homework to do as a couple and as an individual. Another really positive thing about her is that she remembers what you tell her! We only see her once a month and she picks up right where we left off. She is truly an amazing guidance to our relationship in the intimacy department as well as everything else. I recommend to at least see her one time, that is enough for you to realize that it is sooo worth it. read more

I am new to therapy so to say I was nervous about getting started is an understatement! In one session, Dr Steph was able to not only make me feel comfortable and connected, but give me real insight and fresh perspective. I didn't expect to leave with all the answers, but what I actually left with that first day was so much more important: the right questions! Often we distract ourselves with the symptoms but rarely look directly at the cause. This is what I continue to get out of our sessions. And as we get closer as people, the deeper we are able to go. Plus theres no need to ever be shy here! I look forward to exploring the next layer together! read more

To begin with I'm not one who writes reviews. I felt that this is important to do because the help Dr. Stephanie has giving me over the last two years.I am a male in my early 60's and I had a problem intimacy over my life time. I believe it started when my father passed away from cancer when I was 10 yrs old. At that time my Mom had to go to work long hours to keep are family together. There was not much time for love and intimacy with one Mom and 4 kids. All of us had to figure it out ourself. Since I been working with Dr. Stephanie I've found real peace and a compassion in my relationships with women and in society.. I find her to be a compassionate, loving, giving person VERY Professional ! It not easy to be a professional in this line of therapy. She does this with the insight of a person who herself has gone thought pain and anguish. I can only tell all who reads this, If your looking for a PROFESSIONAL who cares who is on by our side to get better. Then you need to come her. If she can't help you she will help you find a person that can. If there was a 10 star ratting I would give that to her. Thank you Doctor. read more

Dr. Stephanie is really wonderful. She is easy to connect with and makes you feel very comfortable. I've been to therapy before but my boyfriend had not so I tried hard to find a therapist that would be helpful and easy to work with for both of us. Dr. Stephanie also recommended me to another therapist to do some more one on one work which has really been helping.
