I have been a loyal patient at IMS in Avondale, AZ for 10+ years, so writing this is incredibly painful because I genuinely respect & appreciate Dr. Sumpter & his Medical Asst. What has forced me to speak out is not Dr. Sumpter himself, but the repeated lack of urgency, communication, & basic follow-through from the office staff &  management. For quite some time now, when in need of reaching out to Dr. Sumpter's office, I'm repeatedly met by the need of having to spend large portions of my day navigating long holds, dropped calls, & voicemails that to date have never been returned simply to obtain routine information such as lab or test results or simply schedule an appointment. On more than one occasion, important medical results were read to me by scheduling staff rather than a medical professional, leaving me confused, distressed, & without the guidance or help I desperately needed. Being told "everything is normal" while I clearly did not feel normal was devastating & left me without care or direction. My most recent experience has been the breaking point. I've recently developed rapidly worsening hearing loss -- a frightening & potentially life-altering condition, especially as a 55-year-old grandmother who wants to continue hearing my grandchildren's voices as they grow. After being seen & told a referral would be sent, days turned into more than a week with no action, no communication, & no urgency. My having to make repeated calls found only continued delays & confusion.  After requesting a return call today from office manager, Elizabeth before the end of the day, no call ever came. The office ultimately closed 1/2 hour earlier than the posted hours while I was still waiting for help. The emotional impact of feeling ignored during a possible medical emergency is profound. Patients trust medical offices with their health, their futures, &  in moments like this, their ability to live fully with the people they love. When urgency & compassion are absent, the damage is not just administrative -- it is deeply personal. It is heartbreaking to consider leaving Dr. Sumpter, a physician I have so fully trusted for almost a decade! Nor did the decision come easily!  But patient safety, timely care, &  basic dignity I feel must come first. I sincerely hope leadership takes a serious look at communication, accountability, & a sense of urgency within this office so that no other patient feels as unseen & helpless as I have. Not just during this frightening medical situation of decreased hearing loss, but as it has been a chronic issue culminating in today's events. read more

I had an appointment with Shianna Wilson about a month ago in which I told her about an abnormal pap I had at least 2 years ago. She performed another pap and informed me that she would refill my birth control prescription (that I have been on for years to manage other symptoms) one more time, but would not do another refill until after I got a colposcopy because she believed being on birth control would aggravate whatever caused the abnormal pap in the first place. Then, I was referred by their office to a gyno outside of my insurance that hardly answers their phone. After receiving another referral and making an appointment with a gyno who takes my insurance my birth control supply was running out so I asked for one more refill, I had the referral and the appointment, but I didn't want to stop taking a medication that had been managing symptoms for years when I didn't even know if it was contraindicated for sure. So, after spending $70, leaving work early, and waiting over an hour my gyno informed me my most recent pap (the one performed in Shianna's office) came back normal - something they failed to mention when they called to scare me about asking for another birth control refill about a week ago - I would not need a colposcopy, and there is no evidence that being on birth control with an abnormal pap is a bad idea. I had great experiences within IMS in the past, but I will never go back to Shianna for any kind of medical attention. read more

It's a constant hassle to get in contact with the office. I was referred to a specialist by the primary care physician and it's also been a horrible experience trying to schedule an appointment. Ironwood Cancer & Research Center was the location I was advised to get in contact with and they were suppose to call me back 09/22/25. Do yourself a favor, find somewhere else to be seen. They just want to make you useless appointments when you're young and healthy. I picked this place because I didn't want to deal with another office who doesn't answer phones and needed a referral for a specialist to see me. I came back from a trip abroad with a cough and wanted an xray order to go get checked, they refused to give me one. I had just been there a few months ago for my yearly exam and had labs. They wanted me to make an unnecessary appointment instead of trying to help. I tried to manage what I could over the counter and hit the point I was just done with the chest pain. I took my 81 year old grandmother here to get her lab work done. We scheduled an appointment online and there were plenty of dates and times to choose from. We came 5 minutes before the scheduled appointment and I checked her in through their online check in system. Within a minute we received a text that they were ready to see her. She was in and out not even 10 minutes later. I've seen a lot of negative reviews about this place so I was apprehensive to take her here, but we didn't have many other options. When we went, we had a great experience and everyone was extremely courteous and friendly. If you are able, I recommend scheduling an appointment online to make things easier. The only issue we had was with parking. For a large medical facility, the parking lot is pretty crowded and it is difficult to get a close spot for those who may need assistance getting around. If you want to avoid parking issues, try to come in closer to when they open so it isn't too crowded or have someone drop you off at the front. read more

Been a patient for a couple of years. Cash patient. April the month mt blood pressure meds were due they decide they want a physical. Dr Longquist would not renew they without appt. In April i turn 65 so medicare would step in. They would not give me my pills only ones i take for BP. Call pharmacist she said nit only wrong but dangerous she made call got me 30 days. Call today to set appt as i just got medicare card called IMS got the snottiest, rude unprofessional young woman you can get. Not helpful at all told her i dont need this. They had a different Doctor on the card and they were closed as i wasted my time on IMS. Down to one pill so if something happens its because IMS HELD MY PILLS HOSTAGE. Where nit talking narcotics we are talking 5mg besyite. Pharmacist says very dangerous but all Ims care about is money. read more

Long story short...traveled out of state and office refused to order a refill, or mail me, a written prescription of a controlled medication I have been taking since 2004. just "not their policy". So, I've been abandoned and will have to see a Doctor in a different state to get Ambien. Employees are pissy and snarky from the PA's on down. I worked for Doctors for 30 years in a different state and have never experienced anything like this staff. I will be going somewhere else when I get back to Arizona. I called my PCP, Dr. John Hopkins, but he and his PAs weren't available for 2 weeks. And, considering my need, I was debating on going to the ER. However, the Phone rep told me that Dr. Steven Wolpert was available in their Avondale office, and I could see him the same day! :o So, I said yes! I showed up about 30 minutes early, jic, there was any paper work. But, there wasn't. Considering it's a doctor's office, the wait time wasn't too bad (those reviewers who rated low because of a long wait time should know by now that one seldom ever sees the doctor at the appointed time (rolls eyes)). The staff, Nurse and Dr Wolpert are all very nice people. Good to know that I have a backup to go to, if needed. read more

If you have nothing to do and all the time in the world, then use this doctors office. My husband had an appointment at 230. We checked in at 2. I'm writing this at 403p and have not been seen! The service is poor. We had an appointment with Dr. Young, his name should be Dr. Old due to the time wasted waiting. They could have let us know how long the wait would be and/or apologize, but nothing. It's not like we were impatient or kept asking how long. If we could give no stars we would, to bad. Did I mention they were quick to take the copayment upon arrival that we had to fight to get back (in Trump voice) sad! read more

WARNING! Expect an average of a 10-15 minute hold EVERY time you call in. That is not an exaggeration. Also expect to schedule 3-4 weeks in advance. Dr Sadek is professional but his staff and organization are seriously lacking. I could go on with examples but if even scheduling an appointment in the first place is that difficult, you should avoid this place to begin with. I've sucked it up for a year because they are close to my home, and Sadie Mueller, PA and Dr Sadek were helpful when you could actually see them. read more

My primary care physician was Dr. Chia-how Liu, whom we've referred several patients to over the last several years. It was difficult making appointments with him because he is usually very busy and his office staff isn't the friendliest, but we really enjoyed his style and the care my husband and I have always received, until I was in an auto accident. I was told by the emergency room that I was to make an appointment with my primary care doctor within the next week. I called his office, explained that I was in an auto accident and they said Dr. Liu could not see me for another week. After a subsequent call describing the urgency of being seen, they were able to schedule me the following morning. I was in a great deal of pain and after getting into their office, a member of their staff went back to talk to Dr. Liu then came out and told us Dr. Liu does not see auto accident patients unless I wanted to pay cash. I explained that my insurance information has not changed, which she said did not matter. He would only accept cash. I could have paid cash, but the fact that my doctor decided to see me as a dollar figure instead of a person and a patient first, ruined the entire experience. I want a doctor who cares about their patients, not just about the dollar figure attached to us. If he would have come out and talked to me in person, it would have been appreciated. To see that I was clearly in pain, needing assistance, to come in and then be told oops "someone" should have told you we don't see auto accident patients. He didn't even offer to help me find another doctor! It was just a horrible experience. I would NEVER want anyone else to make the same mistake of choosing him as their primary care physician when they were really in need of one. read more

I have never waited less than 30 minutes in the waiting room then another 20 in the private room typically an hour wait We had an appointment and called to let them know that we was running 10 -15 minutes behind was told we would not be seen and need to be rescheduled no other appointments for more than a week rushed there to get there on time and waited almost an 1 hour more read more

Upon reading some of the reviews I'll have to agree that regardless of your appointment time be prepared to wait. In fact I don't think I've ever been seen on time so plan in advance to be seen very late. There was a time where I actually waited an hour in the waiting room and then an additional 45 minutes after being seated in a private room. I did however give IMS Primary Care five stars and the me explain. For one dr. Corey Kelly actually listens to you and shows concern rather than you just being another patient or number. In addition all of the IMs locations and doctors all upload their information whether it be IMS neurology IMS Primary Care or otherwise for efficient and properly stored medical records across the entire medical team. read more

I am trying to change doctor and I selected Dr. Peter Young for 2 reasons, internal med and speaks Chinese ! However, I am giving it 2 stars instead of 1 just to be more fair since I have not even get to see him yet. But their phone system on screening our calls already make me sick ! I guess no matter which option you chose to press on the key pad, the waiting time is still 15 plus minutes and it doesn't tell you how long your estimated waiting time will be.....by the time I get someone on the phone, I may have driven to their office, tell them face to face that I am canceling the appointment and got home already ? read more

This place is horrible! The lady in thw front office is ridiculously rude. Dr. LUI was my doctor. I went in for a pap, and had also happened to wake up with pink eye that morning so I had him look at it. He DID NOT perform a pap. He dis look at my eye but DID NOT do anything to treat it. No prescription no meds no recommendations. His nurse was rude. Extremely judgmental, looking at me almost disgusted that I had pink eye. I dont recommend this place nor this doctor. read more

I don't even know where to start. I have been having serious GI issues. Saw a quack dr there by the name of Verma. He did a colonoscopy and endoscopy and said nothing was wrong. But shortly after I ended up in the hospital with the same issue. No follow up alot or nothing. Just that nothing was wrong. I got an alot after an hour of trying and I go to said alot and they claim I don't have insurance. Well first its longer than a 30 sec phone call (they never called as I called my ins co and verified). So they said I had to cash pay. Not happening. So they wouldn't see me. I request my medical records AFTER I signed a release and they won't give them me. My husband and I took the day off for this and missed out on $500. All I want are my records so I can find a legit GI dr and now a new family Dr. This is NOT going away until they do the right thing and pay husband and I for time off missed from work and my medical records. I will NOT let someone else in healthcare do this to more people. Someone needs to stop this shit and do the right thing. I have been put through hell and back over the past few months from Dr.s especially this organization that it stops here. From sending things to collections when they shouldn't be because they sent things to the wrong address. read more

Poor service. My doctor was great, but the way IMS runs I do not appreciate one bit. When I recently called for an appointment they failed to inform me that my doctor no longer works at this location. When I took a moment to think of what to do next the MA just decided to hang up. I wasn't directed to a different doctor or anything. So seemed like they just dropped me completely. Idk. Didn't appreciate this one bit when I was actually having an emergency with my prescription refill. read more

Dr Koushik Nag is the best cardiologist I've had. He is so kind, caring, and compassionate. He listens to you and takes time to answer your questions and address your concerns. He is highly competent in his field, and I have a great deal of trust in him. His office staff are very nice as well. read more

I have been going to this office for years and always have been happy with them but the last few years has been horrible. The customer service when I call is horrible and it doesn't matter who I see they all are rude and I feel like they don't know what they are doing. I've tried these last couple of years to give them more chance by seeing every provider in the office but I am so disappointed and aggravated that the office has gone so down hill. To make an appointment or visit the office, prepare to wait an hour in the waiting area and a half hour in the exam room. If you're not dead by the time they answer the phone, then you have a chance at some awesome Medical care. You should never have to wait on the phone like you're trying to win a radio prize. Do not go to Dr peter Young. He doesn't know how to type, and spend the entire time to type the information into his computer when you go there. He asks the patient to see him more often. His office charged me for the wellness visit with additional office visit and asked the patient to pay the copay which supports to be zero copay for the regular physical check up. The front desk receptor said if you say anything with doctor in the wellness visit will be office visit. It is ridiculous! read more

This office has either sold out or been bought out. The office help is not helpful,There is ZERO communication and I do NOT recommend them anymore. Dr. Liu LIED to me about his ability to fill my pain meds and dumped me off on a pain management clinic because he doesn't have the guts to tell me he no longer wanted me as a patient. I normally see Dr. Blackburn but on a recent visit was seen by the nurse practitioner Barbra. I live in East Phoenix now and the only reason I continue going here is because Blackburn knows all my history. Even Jason is pretty good. On a recent visit though, I was misdiagnosed. I was put on a medication the I had a reaction to causing me joint pain and when the medication was stopped, I became ill again. I was told by Barbra that I had a sinus infection, which I suffer from quite regularly. I have recurring chronic sinusitis and I have had two nasal surgeries in the past.What brought me into the office did not seem like a sinus infection AT ALL. Trust me, I know, being that I have suffered from these frequently. It is not normal for me to get chest congestion, a fever, diarrhea and body aches with a sinus infection. She was so convinced it was though. After questioning it several times I decided to just agree to the treatment. She offered me Augmentin... I tried to explain to her that suffering from sinus infections often, I need to be put on a steroid, Prednisone, and an antibiotic, Cefdnir. She would not put me on these medications and reluctantly prescirbed me the Prednisone and a Z-Pack of Azythromicin. After completing these medications, even with complications of joint pain (which when I contacted the office I was told to go to urgent care because they couldn't fit me in), my fever came back and so did my congestion. I tried to be seen at the office but after being sick and already taking time off work, I could not get an appointment with Blackburn or Jason and my only option was to see Barbra. Sorry, but I will not see her ever again. I decided to go to a Minute Clinic to fit my schedule and turns out I have the flu. I've had the flu for 12 days now. Barbra would not even consider the fact that I might have the flu even though the nurse who took my vitals said it sounded like the flu. Like I said, Blackburn and Jason and most of the staff are always fantastic besides scheduling and wait times.. But, I will never be seen by Barbra ever again. Listen to your patients, they know their bodies. I knew going in I had a cold or flu of sorts and was in awe when I was diagnosed with a sinus infection. Not to mention, Barbra never even tested me for the flu. When I went to the Minute clinic that was one of the first things they did after understanding my symptoms. Now, I have wasted my time and money having to go to two different doctors and am still trying to recover from this illness. Absolutely appalled. read more
