The name of the shop caught my attention, and I presumed it would be a poxy range of tourist items - and it certainly has plenty of these. However, if I was a tourist unprepared for an Australian summer, I would be quite happy to find a place like this. They sell thongs, hats, sunscreen, boardshorts and plenty of daggy t-shirts to keep the sun off. They also sell sunscreening moisturiser, tea tree soap and eucalyptus oil. Their range of hats is one of the best around the area. There are, of course, boomerangs and prints of aboriginal art for sale. They sell kids clothing saying cute things (as they always do) and plenty of fridge magnets and stuffed koalas. However, there is plenty in here that you might not expect, and it really is a very useful store.

Ummm, apparently there are a lot of people who LOVE Glenelg?! At least enough to warrant a store…read morechocka block full of random branded souveniers and clothing! I would have thought there would have to be a constant plethora of Asian and Pommie tourists around for sales to keep the store proffitable, but apparently we Adelaidians like to remember our last trip down the road! Anywho, for those of you out there who are deeply in Love with our most popular beach destination, this is most definately to shop to grab something that will share your love with the world! Shirts, aprons, shorts and for the man who enjoys the odd beer....wait for it.....stubby holders! Go Nuts!

Nadia's House of Serendipity - Ownership and slight name change!

Nadia's House of Serendipity has been in Glenelg for a long time and you can't help but notice…read moreNadia, who is extremely tall and has the most gorgeous bright reddy, purple hair. She has run a great store for many years and, in more recent times has relocated round the corner to where it is now. Looking at the shop now, I don't know how she ever fitted in to the smaller store before. The shop screams 70's psychedelic in logo and layout and there is a colourful array of racks of clothing both inside the store and out. You can find vintage clothing, designer clothing and just about everything in between. The change rooms are bright and airy and Nadia or her other assistants are always ready to help out. You can always find something unique here at a good price. As well as clothes, they have a large selection of shoes, bags, belts and jewellery. The only thing about the new store is that it is a little harder to find, being tucked away around the back of Cheap as Chips.

So I'm trying to review this place from a dude's perspective. And that's a little hard to do, since…read morethere's not a lot a guy might want to do here. But I thought of a way a guy might want to enter a store like this. Christmas. I've already bought a Christmas present for milady, but I've a got a little extra money coming in so I thought I might try for something extra. Normally, I stay away from clothes. I never remember sizes, and girls tend to like to try a thing on before they buy it. And I can't say I blame them for this. But I brought in a picture of milady, and showed it to the staff, and they gave me some handy tips as to what might suit her. I ended up buying a thirty dollar dress. I can't tell you whether the advice was accurate or not, as Christmas isn't 'til tomorrow, but here's the best part: I've already nailed the present. This is just a bonus, so if I've made a terrible choice, I'm still in the clear. Regardless, I'd like to thank the staff for their help with the unorthodox request.

This unique accessory store opened up in Glenelg this year. The owner is beautifully dressed and gracious in her approach and certainly passionate about her stock. On visiting the store recently , she spent a lot of time and patience showing me her diverse selection of watches. It is good to find a shop that offers something different in an era of mass produced products. So, if you are looking for something different for yourself or a gift and have quite a few dollars to spend this could be for you.

It was full of all sorts of bags and all different colours. The shop assistant was extremely helpful. Mum described what kind of bag she would like and the type she didn't want. The lady showed mum several options and was patient with mum's indecisiveness. Touche de Paris also sells other accessories such as jewellery, watches, wallets and sunglasses. I'm not sure if I'd recommend this store to my friends (because it seems a bit mature for our age group), but I would recommend it to anyone with a taste for Paris, luxury and a big budget!

I take good care of them. The handbag cost $35 10 years ago which wasn't the cheapest for what it was. A cheaply made accessory. After a couple of times of me using it, literally, the seams became undone and the lining became loose, no longer attached to the outer vinyl fabric. Threads were hanging and it looked awful. I brought the handbag less than a week later to the store with receipt of purchase bur the proprietor or manager, she was one of the two, refused to give me a refund. This kind of thing should not have happened to a product so soon after purchase. It has never happened to me before or since! The proprietor said that she couldn't be sure I didn't overload the bag with personal belongings! I only kept my purse, phone, keys, couple of tissues and sometimes a lipstick in it. The woman said she could sew and repair the bag herself if I left it with her for some days. I found her attitude unacceptable given how new the item was. Although I was a regular customer I stopped going to all their shops after this experience. Their "knitwear" and scarves smelled like petroleum too. Not recommended. Of course I don't know if new owners are there now. The lady who refused me a refund wore glasses.

There are a lot of garments in this shop that I couldn't imagine anyone looking good in but then there is the occasional item that looks incredible and is still cheap. One of my favourite summer dresses is from here and everyone comments on it (in a good way). This is a shop where it is worth fighting through the squashy racks. Near the counter there is always a display of inexpensive shoes, purses and other accessories. It is also, strange but true, good for cheap sports socks, go figure! So if you are looking for something interesting and don't have much to spend this could be the place to go!

I explained that I couldn't find matching skin coloured fabric for my skin so I got the satin to make it a feature instead of trying to match. She said I'd have it back in a week. On collection day she showed me, and the satin had been sewn in back to front! Shiny side was facing body, so matte side was facing out! (Which looked like a tacky mismatch). I asked why she sewed it in the wrong way round. She yelled at me that she did it the right way, and that's how satin goes! I said that when you see formal satin gowns, the shiny side ALWAYS faces out, so I didn't think I had to specify that first! She yelled that she is not going to fix it so take it somewhere else! Then she refused to talk to me about it further, gave me the silent treatment until I left. Just like that!
