I went to Impressive Smiles to get a new retainer made. The office is decorated very nicely and is very welcoming to a first time patient. I am told that coffee, drinks, and snacks are available even though no one showed me where they were. My mouth was scanned with their computer software and my retainer was made in their office. Well first I will start with my hygienist Sarah, she's wonderful. She answers all of my questions and is very thorough.Then I will mention Samantha the Dental Assistant to Dr. Pederson. They're all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I felt like my "friends" were working on my teeth! When I need to get in for a problem they get me in every time. They explained the days that they would be there and wouldn't, because a lot of the work I had done was around the holidays. That made me feel at ease. Don't let the warm welcoming fool you...these guys don't know what they're doing and messed my smile up for life, let alone the pain I dealt with after my experience for months! I loved going to the dentist until this place and like the story goes...now have a hard time going back anywhere. As a young teenager, I wore braces for just under two years to pull my two top incisor teeth down. I had nearly a perfect smile until I walked into Impressive Smiles. In my late 20's, I went in due to 1 painful wisdom tooth which needed to be pulled. This place convinced me to do all 4 at once for absolutely no reason, except to not have to deal with this pain again. Naively, I let them pull all my wisdom teeth out. Since then, all the space created has shifted my whole mouth and my two incisor teeth have raised completely (leaving two big holes in my mouth, which I had fixed with braces years ago. There was no reason to pull all my wisdom teeth out except for them to make more money! I feel like any one of them should have known this space would be created in my mouth to shift my teeth. When I walked out that day, numb and full of gauze...the receptionist insisted I make these extra curricular appointments for unrelated cosmetic things, right then and there (and here I am in pain and can't talk). For months after my appointment I had the most excruciating pain which I went in multiple times for, each being treated for air pockets, only to find out there was an extra piece of my tooth stuck in the gum that needed out. Like I said, this place has ruined my beautiful smile and my trust in dentists. This place is one of my biggest life regrets. I remember the day like yesterday, think about it when I wake up sometime...it haunts me. Not even going to lie, I periodically get real angry with this place over the years and am just forced to brush it off, and live happily...but am reminded of them every-time I open my mouth. They didn't care about me, the cared only about the 4 teeth vs 1 and the extra curricular work they were pushing on me. And yes, just as stated in another review...I was awake for the entire 4 teeth being pulled..that part was actually pretty cool ...I'm curious why that person pulled all 4 out though!? Don't pull any teeth out unnecessary!? You're ruining people's smiles!!! I wish I could take this day back. I remember my Dad saving all his pennies to get us braces as kids to give us the best smile, just as a remember saving all my pennies for this place to take it all away. Please note in response to the business: I lived in Illinois and had my wisdom teeth unnecessarily pulled from this location. I think about you every time I smile, and so yes, I'm in California now...still resenting what you've done to my smile and posting about it. I've attached evidence of my existence. read more

Great dentist that does top notch work with a very modern office and great staff. There's lots of things about this business which make it a great choice. The parking around the building is easy to access and plentiful, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, they have a SmilesPlus program which provides discounted (20%) and free services for a set yearly fee for those without insurance, they send out text and e-mail appointment reminders, their website is up to date, each patient room has TVs and computers to help explain your situation, and many other nice perks. Not only is the business run well but the work done is great as well. Teeth cleanings are painless and they take extra care to make sure things are not splashing out of your mouth. X-rays are quick and easy with their modern equipment (and you can even see them on the computer screen right after). Root canals and fillings are surprisingly painless. They even take the extra step to use a rubber dam to isolate the tooth, vaseline to make sure your lips don't dry out, periodic suction from an assistant for the inside of your mouth, goggles to prevent anything from getting into your eyes, and other things to make each procedure as painless and comfortable as possible. I used to think dental work was painful and avoided going to the dentist but Dr. Barsoum has completely changed my perception of dental work. I'm now well informed about every procedure and know that my dentist is committed to making everything as pain free as possible. Overall: I had a negative experience at this location, and I would not recommend this to my friends or loved one. Positives -staff where professional and nice -the building looked very clean and professional -there is a beverage section (tea/coffee) in the waiting room. I personally didn't used this, so I cannot attest to it -everybody wore masks appropriately -the hygienist as incredibly nice and re-assuring. She may small talk to fill in the gap while waiting for the dentist. -costs are itemized with accurate prices. I do enjoy this for transparency Negatives -hygienist schedules are busy, and dental cleanings are booked months in advance -they try to sell sonicare toothbrush for greater $130. I am not sure about which model, but you can certainly find sonicare models that are significantly lower Now, with all this said, why would I give this place 2 stars and not recommend? The initial visit lasted 1.5 hours with a full set of X-rays and 3 d modeling. During this 1.5 hrs, there were no procedures or dental cleaning done. I came in for a dental emergency/urgency. I am not interested in 3D models of my teeth for teeth straightening. No procedures were done. No dental cleaning was done. Once the teeth were evaluated and the problem was found, I was proposed several options by the dentist. I do appreciate the fact that there were different options made available to me. I, however, was told that the most cost effective and (what seemed to me) reasonable option will just fail in a short time. I was then recommended to undergo the most costly procedure. Needless to say, I was concerned about my dental health. I made plans to enact the treatment plan outlined to me. HOWEVER, they required a dental cleaning first, before any procedure was done. I was in pain! As I mentioned before, it would take several months to set up a dental cleaning appointment. I simply cannot wait several months to do a cleaning, to be eligible for a procedure. It is not fair to be several months in pain. Also, this assumes that a patient can afford both the cleaning and the procedure. What if I could only afford 1? I understand that the plan was probably the best in an ideal situation. But please be flexible, as not everybody is in an ideal situation I actually decided to go to a competitor that was out of network, as they were offering a consultation. I got my dental emergency/urgency fixed the same day. They went back the following day for cleaning (didn't require a several month wait, and didn't make me do the cleaning before fixing the pain, which I really appreciated. The cost ended up being the same. They never recommended the most expensive option. Rather, that executed the most cost efficient action without saying it will fail. Anyways, I think this practice might be the right dentistry for some people. However, I had a gosh awful experience and was needlessly stressed out my the whole ordeal. I certainly hope other patients don't experience the same thing. I cannot vouch for how other patients are treated, and I can only go by my own experiences. My wife and I's journey at Impressive Smiles started out with 5 star experience. The front of house staff, as well as hygienists, we're very kind and professional. Teeth cleaning and check ups went well. All was fine, until they informed my wife she needs to get her wisdom teeth out. They insisted to have it done at their office as they have a travelling surgeon that comes around for the surgery. Yesterday, I dropped my wife off and here's how her experience went... Everything started off fine. The front of house was very kind, but after she got called back to surgery, it ended up being one of the most miserable experiences she's ever had. Completely awake and aware the whole time, they give her 15+ shots in her gums (which had tears running down her cheeks) then proceeded to operate. (Why not offer laughing gas at this point seeing she's distressed?) The two top ones came out mostly okay, but the bottom two were impacted. So they busted out a drill and had to drill the teeth to break them apart and pull them out piece by piece, ALL WHILE SHE WAS AWAKE AND AWARE. At one point, they hit a nerve and my wife again began to cry, so they gave her more shots and went to drilling again. She walked out pissed off and traumatized. It is absolutely insane to preform wisdom teeth surgery the way Impressive Smiles recommended it. My wife remembers ever gory detail of her experience. Why was laughing gas never given to take away all the stress and memories?! It was a terrible experience. Update: We got a call about the review. While it does seem like there was a miscommunication, they apologized for what happened. After apologizing, he then asked "Why didn't you ever ask for laughing gas?", which kind of felt like he was putting the blame on my wife for not asking to be under laughing gas, when she did. When my wife made the appointment weeks prior the the surgery, she expressed to them that she has a very low pain tolerance and was nervous for the operation and wanted laughing gas and they assured her they would have it and not to worry. Come the day of the appointment, my wife assumed the laughing gas would come at some point, but it never did. She was never offered. It just a bad experience and will always be a bad memory.
