FREE PARKING -- Parking downtown is a pain so I'm happy that BrownsFit gym validates parking tickets at the attached garage. You won't pay for parking which is awesome. MEMBERSHIP -- I have a corporate membership which means I have a slight discount based on where I work. Membership is month to month (no contract) so if you want to cancel, tell them 10 days before your next gym payment is due and they will cancel your membership. WHAT YOU GET -- They offer group fitness classes (which are included in the membership price), they have cardio equipment such as ellipticals, treadmills, and bikes. They have dumbbells and barbells for those who enjoy lifting weights. There are male and female changing rooms with showers and toilets. *My FAVOURITE machine to use so far has been the Jacobs Ladder. I had never know about this cardio equipment until joining BrownsFit. It is intense and you only need 3 mins to feel the BURN. The Saturday morning BOOTCAMP classes are intense but really good. FREE MASSAGES -- Members can use a massage chair (3 are available) for 10 minutes without any extra charge. I enjoy using the massage chair after a good workout. LAYOUT -- The main floor is huge and has all the cardio and weight equipments. There are TV's lined up on the wall by the windows. They also have 2 fitness exercise rooms at the back of the gym where all the group fitness classes are held. One of the rooms has the spin bikes in them laid out at the back of the wall but there is still space in the room to do your own workout. I'm happy the bikes don't take up the whole room. This room also has weights and other equipment in the corner. Bootcamp classes, yoga, etc, are held in this room. The other fitness group class room is smaller and has equipment in it such as weights, ropes, yoga mats, etc. I love using the group exercise class rooms for my workouts when if there are no fitness classes scheduled. Overall, I would recommend Browns Fit gym. The corporate membership is less than $50 a month and I believe regular membership is under $60/month. For everything you get, it is really a great bank for your buck. - 42/200 total reviews in 2020 - 418 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 12 December 2020

It has made a positive difference in my lifestyle, eat healthy, work out regularly. No work out is easy, everyday you leave with your butt being kicked and realizing how much more there is to achieve. The facility is excellent, coaches are well versed in CrossFit. The emphasis is on ensuring you do it right. The programming led by Jeff, Adam & Katie is adaptive and helps address your shortcomings. So if you want to get fit, improve your strength & conditioning - CrossFit Sixth City is the place to be at. I endorse CSC without any reservations. Addendum: 6/14 CSC has added weekly yoga classes. These are held every Thursday, led by a certified yoga instructor. I find them very complimentary to CrossFit especially with mobility. The yoga classes are open to all & cost $5/session.

Okay, that was super corny, but really, Sixth City is an…read moreawesome place to get your fitness on, and I'm fortunate to have been a member of this incredible community for two years now. One thing that truly sets CSC apart is the fact that no matter your fitness level, the coaches will pay attention to you, help you through your bad habits, and they legitimately want you to succeed. They don't spend all of their time with newbies nor do they spend all of their time with the more experienced athletes, instead, everyone gets personal attention and help where they need it most. Some people complain about the price of a crossfit membership, but with a basic understanding of the product, you'll see that it's well worth it. CSCs coaches take all the hard work out of staying fit--they plan the workouts for you, help you through your weaknesses and encourage you when you want to quit. Beyond that, they take a genuine interest in getting to know you. Bonus points--the gym is in a super convenient location if you work downtown.

Your first 30 minute personal training session is free. My co-workers and I got a complimentary session which lasted almost 45 minutes. For the workout, 4 of my team members and I (5 total) started off with weight training using free weights (dumbbells), then we moved into battle ropes and squat ball exercises, and we ended up with using the weighted sled machine and did pushups. The sled machines and ropes were my favourite type of equipment to use because you don't find them often at a traditional gym. The sled machine sits on a grass turf and plates (weights) can be added or removed from it. The trainers worked us hard on an especially HOT day outside. They did have a fan blowing inside and the A/C was on as well but we all were still sweating from the workout and the extreme outside temperatures. SHARDAY TOBE is an awesome trainer. I loved her encouragement and enthusiasm. I believe she came up with the workout exercises. Herself and Nancy Halloran led the workout. Nancy is equally also a great trainer. She is really nice and answered so many of my ongoing questions...LOL. Chad Maleski, another personal trainer, is someone I met twice before when he was doing promotions for the gym at my office building and I had even emailed him with gym related questions. He is equally friendly just like Sharday and Nancy. I have not being trained by Chad yet though. I loved my personal training session with my co-workers and the trainers Sharday and Nancy. It's always more fun exercising with friends. This location is still finishing up renovations. There will be windows added, paintings on the wall, a new side entrance, an office for the trainers, and some cardio machines such as a treadmill and a stair climber. There are Rogue barbells and weighted plates which I would love to eventually come back to use for squats. THANKS Sharday, Nancy, and Chad for making my experience here wonderful. I wanted to unwind so booked the Soft Aerial Yoga class with Samantha Sycz. It was indeed soft. Very slow. Like just hanging out in a hammock. So when I was face down in the hammock, I had to take off my BRAND-new glasses--first pair in three years, bought in California. Welp, Sam full-on stepped on them. I heard the crunch. WTF. One arm was at a 45-degree angle. I tried to keep my zen and continue. Could not. Sam told me to go to the front desk. Halle gave me that saccharine-sweet runaround that drives me NUTS, insisting on my phone number and refusing to take any responsibility, saying I would hear the next day. "But pleeeease text me when you get home safely." Um, okay, not necessary. Let's deal with the glasses. I then got an incredibly long gaslighting email about how it was my fault and they would take no responsibility. Said Sam haaad to come over to correct my hands in an inversion so really it was necessary for her to crunch my glasses. Thing is, that isn't even when it happened. The inversion happened after, and it was the point at which I left. I was doing virtually nothing when it actually happened. (That's kinda the class btw.) That all was bad enough. To add insult to injury, I came in on a rainy Saturday morning because I'd already booked the body sculpt class. They checked me in. But as I went to enter the class, Halle came at me all saccharine again. She told me to LEAVE. She had my phone number because of her incredible concern for me (eyes rolling back in my head) yet did not text me to tell this. ClassPass showed I was registered, yet in another longwinded email sent a few hours earlier that Saturday morning (because everyone checks their email and junk mail before a Saturday morning workout lol) they said they had taken me out of class. They didn't, obviously. So I wasted my Saturday morning and lost my ClassPass credits and they lied some more. They had me drive down in the rain to take their lame ass class after breaking my brand-new glasses for nothing. It's all on me!! Not very zen of them, but we know how karma works. I wish the photo of my smashed new glasses would upload. Use your imagination.
