Christine (owner) is a very skilled bodyworker and knows exactly what your body needs, even if you don't- I left my massage with my body feeling 10 lbs lighter, without knots and tightness I didn't even know I had. She is caring and respectful of your stated preferences and boundaries, but is intuitive enough to know what areas might need a bit more pressure or a different technique, so you can really trust her to do exactly what needs to be done. She seems passionate about what she does and her business as a whole, as well as our local community at large, so this is the kind of business you feel good going to (and not just because of the awesome results you get, although that's key too). Note that this isn't a spa, so there's no uniformed staff members, bridal parties, or white marble in sight... what you will find instead is a homey, cozy, comfortable and welcoming place (/house) with passionate and caring people ready to help your body be the best it can be (for a very reasonable price!). This would be the perfect place to come if you have specific problems/areas you're looking to be worked on, but I came in just for some general self-care and stress-relief, and my goal was met and then some. Think it's time I become a regular here. They do online booking which makes things easy, and their communication about appointments and preferences prior to your appointment is excellent as well. Christine's massages are truly wonderful. As I write this review, I am more than 41 weeks pregnant with my second child. Which means that I am roughly one thousand pounds pregnant and I do a lot of back-stressing toddler carrying. I can't remember the last time I was actually comfortable in my body during this pregnancy other than the times that I have seen, or the hours immediately following, Christine's visits to my home. For other moms out there, one of the best things about Christine's business is that she is willing to come to you. For me, as pregnant as I am and being the mother of a bad sleeper, this is the difference between getting a massage at all and spending another uncomfortable afternoon/evening on the couch. Christine will focus on problem areas, and they will actually feel better after she leaves. As a consequence of her massages, I not only feel more "pampered" and relaxed, but I have a greater sense of physical and emotional well-being. I'm again talking to the other moms out there - nothing like a great massage for those insane hormonal swings at the end of pregnancy. I finally got a chance to go get a massage with Christine and I have got to say I will DEFINATELY be going back. I went to see her at her wonderful new yoga and massage studio in Dorchester (super easy to get to by car and she wasn't working in JP the day I booked). The studio is beautiful and worth checking out! I'm a massage therapist with 20 years of experience, and I had met Christine at a function a few months ago. I love stepping out of my normal and trying a new therapist a couple times a year, because sometimes I find someone amazing. Christine has a very tuned in and thorough massage approach. I felt like she really heard where my problem areas were and gave me the focus and detail I needed to have less pain. She got a lot of the ongoing hip and leg pain to release nicely and still found time to get some solid tension relief in my upper back and shoulders. I am so lucky that Christine happened to be available when I called. I had shoulder surgery a week before and the opposite arm was very sore from doing everything. She was able to do a home visit and gave me a wonderful massage to my opposite shoulder neck and low back all while I was in the sitting position. She gave just the right pressure and if it felt like too much I was very comfortable asking her to back off a little bit and she obliged. She is a very delightful person and I am glad that I was able to find her through Yelp. When I'm all healed in hopefully 6 months, I plan to get a regular full body massage from her. read more

I had an excellent experience at Imani. I highly recommend. These are the reasons why: Location: Beautiful building, large room. Very clean, organised, calming. Hospitality: excellent, Christine got a drink for me, without me even asking. Gave me lots of privacy and time. Was very welcoming, obliging, warm and hospitable. Massage: EXCELLENT. Hit the spot exactly. Christine has a perfect touch and uses a combination of Swiss and Deep Tissue Techniques. This is great because you really got a lot of satisfaction out of the Deep Tissue Massage, and then you get the rewarding feeling from the Swiss techniques. Christine found some tension in my upper back, and some tightness in my hamstrings and worked on both of these. Was exactly what I needed. Deep massages are very helpful to me because of various back and hip issues. I completed 1 1/2 years of monthly massage at another shop. Then I won a free message from Imani Massage at a church event and I have not looked back. Christine is very kind and accommodating. She explains everything and shares different things I can do to minimize my discomfort. I get really terrible muscle pains and spasms in my legs and back, hip, sciatica, you name it. My body seems to know when it's 4 weeks from my last massage because it speaks to me in a foreign language, like right now. Christine is very kind and straight forward.
