I prefer to go to a hair salon because otherwise it seems everyone wants to give you a buzz cut. Being new to the area, I found Linda's salon on Yelp. Basic points about the salon: 1. It's big and well-established - They seem equipped to do a huge range of things for women, above and beyond the other places. They also were much cleaner, spiffier, and were twice the size of any other place I passed by. The salon's also been used for women on some of the makeover TV shows. 2. Great, helpful staff - Really friendly, and I liked them a lot. They gave me a lot of pointers about the area, which I really appreciated. 3. Fluent English speakers - I know it's the Bronx, but three places I'd visited nearby struggled to answer me when asking "can you give me a haircut?". Seemed like decent salons, but made me worried about how I'd further convey the "no buzz cut" concept :) 4. Surprisingly good price - $15 for a haircut. 5. Good haircut - My wife approved and liked it. They didn't scalp me or get scissor-happy or anything, I thought it was a good haircut too. I'd recommend this place to women to try out - seems like the best salon place within three miles of here. I'd recommend it to men too.

I heard about both of them from my current hair stylist who said Roxan is the best for updo and anyone she hires for makeup is great. She did not lie. I paid my deposits for both of them and showed up at 11am sharp for my appt. I got my hair washed and i was out in the dryer with rollers while i waited for roxan. When my hair was dried, i got my makeup done and Roxan styled another client. After my makeup was done she styled my hair. She was honest about what would work and not work for my hair as my hair is very long but fine. And she added hair and things to make it look fuller. I left feeling beautiful and my son even called me a princess! It's now Sunday night and my hair is still intact, i don't want to undo it because i love it and have been sleeping with a bonnet and it looks exactly the same ! The makeup didn't budge at all until i washed it off. I will def be back for all future events. I loved the work and how convenient it was to get my hair and makeup done at the same location!

Showed the owner what I wanted and asked if it was possible. Yes Hunny I charge $350 for that. But just know you will have to come a few times, we will not get that first time . So great do you take Zelle or should I go get Cash - no Zelle is fine. I told her that my hair had other processing in it and I would recommend doing a test strand because I didn't want to a bad job. Her response was "oh baby we are Albanians we don't mess up color" - then tells her employee to make a bleach with 30 Volume ( I had no idea how strong this even is & that it isn't even used because it will knock your hair out. She applies this to my head to make highlights she's very talkative and nice - at first. Ohh hunny you have ALOT of hair. Once stuff is in my hair I had to keep asking her to check it because I am no stylist but bleach in hair for over an hour? She checked 4/5 time as per my requested and said coming out beautiful. ( I didn't know she meant hair coming out beautiful as in my hair was being over processed). She has a Hispanic older lady very nice Natty. She has Natty finish her dirty work. Because once she sent her to wash it off and put toner - she never not once even looked at my hair. I can just feel something is wrong and Natty is trying to cover it up and make it seem like everything is alright. Natty asks me if I want to do a mask to help seal my hair, that's an extra $25 - great because who doesn't do mask or deep conditioning after processing hair. The hair mask is supposed to be on your head then a seaming machine - seaming machine kept turning off so the complete process wasn't done. I go to the bathroom after the wash and wow to my surprise my hair was falling out from just touching, the amount of hair I lost yesterday is incredible. The hair was puffy like just soaked felt like a cotton ball. So she now leaves Nice older woman Natty to do my hair the rest of the visit. When Natty started putting my rollers is when I saw all the hair coming out as she brushed. And I was like stop what is going on, when the other realized that she said what what what's the problem? I said my hair, it's coming out - she's like it's like that cause it's WET. You came in here with your hair like that. She's like that's all that processing and flat ironing you do. ( baes my actual hairdresser is a blower beast - no iron needed. At this point my hair super overprocessed hair that not even the drier after 1:30 mins could dry. Poor lady started to try and blow out my hair and it just got worst and worst she make a hand gesture and told her to face me away from the mirror. It was horrible but when it was time to pay she CHARGED ME THE WHOLE $350 + $25 + a miscellaneous Zelle FEE of $12 = $387 total even after the machine didn't work. When I expressed how upset I was she said hunny you come back and I'll do the mask for free ? Huh come back My homegirl comes to this salon and has NEVER has this issue nor a damn ZELLE FEE'd. Her hair color is actual nice and I've never been able to achieve the colors I want. Safe to say I will be sticking to what and who I KNOW because I ran right back to MY hair dresser and she cut my hair and blew it out and told me to just come back and we will get my hair back. So for those ladies that have thick textured hair. STAY AWAY!

I made an appointment for 2:30 PM and the hair dresser called and asked if I could come in at 1:00pm, so I did. I got there and told the hair dresser the style I wanted and showed pictures. She then proceeded to insult my hair saying it was dry and dead. I explained I don't often cut or style my hair, which she seemed offended by. She then sent me to get my hair washed. The lady washing my hair used freezing cold water which got in my ears and down my neck. She washed my hair for a total of 3 minutes and I'm near positive she didn't even use conditioner. When I returned to the hair dresser for her to begin cutting, she continued to tell me how dead my hair was. She slid the scissors through my hair and cut it in a strange manner considering I told her over and over again that I wear my hair in a side part, not middle. She then sent me to another chair to get my hair dried. The same lady who washed my hair "dried" it. She waved a cold blow dryer back and forth a few times and then told me I was done - with my hair still being extremely wet (and it being 30 degrees outside). I then went to check out and was told my haircut was $10 more than what the booking showed. I begrudgingly paid. I asked for my coat and the man at the front huffed and explained he had a headache. From start to finish the whole thing was 20 minutes. I'm not even sure how my hair looks since I was rushed out with wet, messy hair. I won't be going back there ever again and definitely won't be recommending it (also shocked that they somehow had a good rating on yelp). *attached is a picture of what I asked for vs what I got

I've been traumatized since leaving your salon this week. I booked with Hally as wash, blow dry,…read moresteam condition trim and flat iron. She said she didn't steam condition. She washed and blew out my hair and when she was going to trim it I asked how the health of my hair looked. My hair WAS butt length. Natural. Yes I color it at home, but I take really good care of my hair. Hally asked if I wanted a trim or a cut for health and showed me what she said was transparent at the bottom of my hair which was approximately 4-5 inches. I said okay. Considering my hair is very long and a trim of about 4 inches will not make a huge dent. I agreed. When I got up from the chair there was soooooooo much hair on the floor. I immediately said to her that it looked like a lot of hair. She sat me by the dryers and when I went to feel my hair I stopped breathing. I couldn't talk. She curled it with the flat iron which wouldn't allow me to get the true gravity of the amount cut. She cut my butt length hair to almost the middle of my back. My hair is all uneven. Some pieces hit under my shoulder blade. It just choppy. It's horrible. In all my years getting my hair trimmed or cut, I've never experienced this. The time it will take for me to get my hair back to this length for me will probably take a year or more because of the unevenness. I'm just so sad from this experience. I even called her at the salon that night to express my anger and disappointment because I went home and stayed in the house to try to process this experience. I can not fathom why someone would think it is okay to chop someone's hair off like that and then gaslight me by saying "it'll grow back in 6-8 months. I know how to grow hair". I grew my hair. I didn't have a problem with that. I didn't go in for help to treat unkept hair or hair that was over processed and broken off. The insult at the end is that I paid for this. But in actuality I paid twice figuratively.
