Dominic is the only one who really talked to me on how to take care of my hair. I have very baby fine hair and have to be really careful with products and processes. If you ask anyone a question , they will give you an answer and suggestions. Everyone has always been friendly, courteous and pleasant. Dominic tells you about new products and always says " if you don't like it bring it back and we will give you your money back. While traveling I had to get my hair colored. Showed them exactly what I wanted. 4 hours one day and 3 hours the next it was still a blond frizzy, crunchy, uneven mess. When I got home made an appt with Dominic and assistant Gabby. I told Gabby about my nightmare and showed her pictures of similar hair colors. Gabby explained what was wrong with it and how she was going to fix it. Explained that after time it can get lighter and if it does I need to come in and get a darker toner on. Dominic worked his magic with the cutting away dead ends, split ends and frizz. By the time he was done with the cut and blow dry I was in love with Gabby and Dominic all over again. My hair is soft manageable and I don't look like a cheap blonde bimbo. I'm always careful to find stylists who specifically say they have experience with curly hair, and I was unable to find anyone in Dover, where I live. My stylist of 8 years no longer does hair, and I just heard about this "Deva Cut" thing, so I made the trip to Hockessin to see what Darlene could do. Because it was my first visit, I got the "Deva Cut and initial consultation" service. I only waited a minute or two before Darlene was ready for me. We chatted for awhile about my hair, what I'm looking for, what she can do, and she showed me her portfolio, which was a series of before and after photos on her Pinterest page. She took her time, answered all of my questions, and explained what we were going to do for the rest of the appointment. The Deva Cut is difference because the stylist cuts your hair while it's dry, in order to see how your curls fall and get the best shape for you. Darlene was great about stopping periodically to show me the progress and get my feedback. Next, Alyssa washed my hair and applied product. Both Darlene and Alyssa were really communicative with me, helping me see and feel how much conditioner to leave in my hair and how much of each product to use. This was great, because if they hadn't had me touch my hair as we went along and showed me exactly how much product they used, I wouldn't have ever known how much care and moisture my hair really need. Next, I sat under the hair dryer/diffuser, which looked like a 1960s sci fi mod-type spaceship, and that was cool. Finally, Darlene finished the style and cut. Because she took before photos of my hair, I was able to see exactly how amazingly different my curls looked with appropriate care and style. I'm really, really happy with what she did with my hair! The whole process took about 2 hours, and very little of that was wait time. I'm sure it will take less time the next time I go, since I won't need the consultation. I'm excited to have a stylist that understands curly hair. I was a little guarded about the product upsell, but the truth is that the Deva Cut is associated with Deva Curl products, so there's a push to buy the products, too. Darlene wasn't pushy about it at all, which I really appreciated. At the very end, Darlene gave me a brochure about the Deva Curl line of products and handy check list of products that she recommends specifically for me. I see that this salon is rated as being in the moderate price range. I would say it's pricey for me; I've been getting $40 hair cuts for several years. But, because it's located in Hockessin, and this visit included the consultation, it probably is fair to say that the price is moderate. My 2 hour cut, style, and consultation was $65, so you be the judge for yourself. The cons for me are the commute and the price. However, I only get my hair cut about 3 or 4 times a year, so the price isn't too big a deal. My experience was great and I'll go back.

Paid, $650 for full highlight, 1 row install of bead extension (I supplied my own hair - they use Belliami hair which is awful hair - dont be sold on that crap). I walked in platinum blonde, with 10 weeks root growout, wanting to add dimension, blend extention hair and address under processed areas from previous stylist. Simple, nothing uncommon. 6+ hours later, I end up with a blended ashy dull blonde, dark unfoiled spots and extensions sewn in lopsided - opposite of what I requested or paid for. Reached out to request fix and given the run-around and told it would be an additional $175 to add additional highlights for dimenion and the unfoiled dark areas which a full foil of $385 should have acheived at inital time of service, not to mention the multible toners used. What I requested never changed from in-person consult, from shared pictures and day of service. My hair was healthy and hadnt been processed in 10 weeks, I was already very blonde (the hard part was already done) and during the appointment they tell you, you need metal detox, and k18 treatments for chemical services however when requested a fix a few days later Im told they didnt want to compromise the hair and that we will work up too my desired look but if Im willing to pay an additional $175 - we can schedule you this week- total foolishness. Who pays $650 with the intention of working towards something when I walked in 80% already there. You pay for time not services, and its a money grab. Morgan was pleasant however the poor customer service, pushback to correct and request to pay more are unprofessional practices. Save yourself the headache and your money - this salon is exteremly overpriced for amateur expertise. Total money grab and no recoarse. I dont want a salon credit, I requested a fix and that wasnt doable without paying more so how about a refund. I will post
