Brennessel is a student favorite in Freiburg, primarily for its EUR1.80 spaghetti bolognese,…read moreavailable at that price from 6pm to 7:30pm (it's EUR3.50 otherwise). The other dishes aren't expensive, but they don't provide great value, either. The pork chop can be somewhat overcooked and only a little cheaper than at other places. Service can be halfway decent sometimes, at other times inattentive and even a little rude. The beer on tap is, unfortunately, Ganter's various forms of slough-water, though they also have Guinness (strangely, you can't get a whole pint, though). I've never tried the Guinness here. They also serve some other beers out of bottles.
It's not a bad place for a student restaurant/bar, but it's not a place to look for unless you want to spend almost nothing on a Bolognese. That's what brings most people, and that's all I'd recommend them for.
