We ate at the historic Schlössli Wörth. Also known as Wörth Castle, this water castle is located on a small island in the Rheinfall basin. The original fortification on the site was built in the mid‑11th century. Its location made it an essential customs station and transfer point as goods had to be unloaded from ships travelling on the Rhine River and transferred to wagons to bypass the waterfall. It also had a medieval castle built on the site. The water castle was converted to a restaurant in 1837. If you dine at Schlössli Wörth ask for a terrace seat. The restaurant has the best view of the Rhine Falls. Late lunch was delicious. Our waitress recommended the cod confit and the char filet. The cod confit was served with mashed potatoes, kohlrabi carpaccio and a chive beurre sauce. It was so delicious. The char filet came with spinach and potatoes. It was so good. Ordered a refreshing mocktail and sparkling water. It was so relaxing to sit watching the Rheinfall, enjoy the fresh air and summer breezes. A great way to end a beautiful day at Rheinfall.
