I was lucky to be able to experience this facility on a trip provided by my employer. I scored it…read morebased on my reflections below. Yes, with the pools, hot tub, steam, cold plunge and peaceful sitting areas, plus outdoor views, it is a world-class spa, an Asheville high-dollar treat for sure. But WHO, on an average income, can actually afford it? Are only the well-to-do entitled to such niceties? Yes, I'd love to visit the spa again with a close friend to pamper ourselves one day...but..we'd need to pay to spend a night (or 2) in the inn and then "maybe" be lucky enough to have day passes issued to us - no guarantee that would happen. If I read the Omni info correctly, a stand-alone day pass runs about $250, and may OR may not be available on certain days, who knows? It sickens me to learn the Grove Park Inn (pre-Omni) charged around $100 for a spa day pass, and the public was welcome to experience it. Now, only the wealthy, or those who run their credit cards sky high, deserve the pleasure. It would be nice if Omni management designated several spa half-price public days in advance (like maybe in the slow travel months). Would be a gesture of corporate kindness, for sure, to patrons without the big-time bucks. Thanks for listening, if you are.

My hubby enjoyed the gentlemen's facial and I enjoyed the hydra-facial but after talking with some other women in the Spa, the classic facial seems nice too, a few said it was equal to the ultra expensive hydration facial. My skin looked so good that I didn't want to get in the pool with chlorine. The pool area is amazing. We took advantage of the amenities the first day after the couples massage and passed on it the second day due to the facial products. The Spa Cafe was a great spot for lunch! We ate there both days, respectfully no phones or pics but the Paninis are tasty, the Caprese and Turkey with Fig Paninis were yummy. I got a sliced apple instead of chips! The Sante Fe Chicken wrap was good but the other two Paninis were best!

While the Inn will not guarantee your first choice of room when you make your reservation, we were able to choose from three rooms upon arrival, which included our top two choices. I would guess most B&Bers don't prefer rustic decor, which is why our first choice, the Appalachian Trail Room, was still available. (The others are more luxe, such as the Parisian room or the Moroccan themed room). We loved our room, which is set off from the main house and looks like a log cabin. Tom is a gregarious innkeeper and makes lovely and thoughtful breakfasts. Breakfast is taken in common areas of the inn, such as the solarium or the library, on trays. We took ours into the solarium, where we had a nice view of the beautiful Japanese garden landscaping. I think people are put off by the complicated pricing structure (for instance, it is possible to book w/o spa treatments but it's hard to tell from the website) or the mystery surrounding the reservations process. It is true that some rooms do not have their showers (all have whirlpool tubs in-room) and that the shower for those rooms is located in a common area. However, I believe three of the rooms have a shower in-room as well; ours did.

I'm so relaxed I'm speechless in post massage mind bliss. Abigail was my massage therapist. I also had a session with Heidi for another treatment later that day because it's such a great place and because they really helped with my pain. It's a very chill vibe. My only warning is if you go here, you're probably going to want to move to Asheville! Tip: I don't mean this in a bad way, but something to keep in mind If you're sensitive to noise, you might want to bring earplugs because this is more of a social environment (hence the name social) than a quiet spot environment by design and other customers can be chatty;) I thought the music was really cool. I think there was a seven day playlist the day I was there and it added to the experience nicely not your typical spa music but really cool because it's not your typical spa I definitely would go back and would also recommend this spot to other travelers after going to the art museum or anything in the neighborhood-- pre-or post chocolate tasting at French Broad Chocolates? Up to you! It's really nice that they offer such short sessions of 15 minutes because if you just have a little time it's perfect or if you want add on time, that's an option (based on availability) thank you so much Abigail and Heidi for helping me with my headache, frozen shoulder and general relaxation! I will definitely be back if I'm in Asheville again! I wish you all would open up a space in Boston so I could be a frequent flyer
