For the most part, our experiences have been positive. The staff is usually kind, patient, and very understanding, especially when it comes to my fear of getting my blood drawn. That said, I did have one unfortunate experience where the blood draw was very painful and left me severely bruised. The snap of the band hurt so badly that it brought me to tears. Thankfully, that seems to have been an isolated incident. Other visits have gone smoothly, and the care team has been gentle and attentive. I appreciate their ability to work well with the family, and I still feel confident bringing my family here for care.

There are moments in healthcare that remind you exactly why you chose this profession and today was…read moreone of them. I walked into the Convoy Occupational Medicine department late in the day, around 3:30 PM, fully expecting to be turned away or asked to come back another time. Instead, I was met with something rare and genuine compassion. Ms. Magally U. at the front desk didn't just check me, she advocated for me. Without hesitation, she took it upon herself to ask Dr. Thomas Wang if I could be seen. She made me feel like I mattered in that moment, not like an inconvenience at the end of a long day. That kind of kindness cannot be taught--it comes from the heart. Roxy, the nurse, was already done for the day... yet she still stepped in, took my vitals, and cared for me with a smile and a calm, reassuring presence. She kept me informed every step of the way, never once making me feel like I was "just an add-on." That level of professionalism and grace speaks volumes about who she is. And then there's Dr. Wang--who didn't rush, didn't cut corners, and didn't treat me like a number. He took his time, explained everything thoroughly, and delivered the truth with both honesty and kindness (and yes... gently reminded me I'm not 18 anymore, lol). That balance of clinical excellence and human connection is what every patient hopes for. As a nurse, I pride myself on going above and beyond for my patients. But being on the receiving end of that same level of care? It hits different. It reminds you that healthcare, at its core, is still about people taking care of people. This team didn't just do their jobs, they showed up with heart, intention, and selflessness. And that is something you don't forget. Also--this facility is absolutely beautiful, which only adds to the overall experience. To Dr. Wang, Roxy, and especially Ms. Magally U.--THANK YOU! You turned what could have been a stressful situation into a moment of gratitude. You reminded me why I love being a nurse. This is what excellence looks like.

Considering I still have health concerns that I'd like to correct I felt he provided a sincere concern on how to rectify the situation. As a business owner myself that was is important to me. I am willing to go along with the program designed for me (which is much different than the first time around). I cannot say if it is going to make a difference since it's only been a week. Health issues can be very complex and achieving the desired results can and usually does take many paths. I encourage anyone seeking optimal health to at least talk with AFM with their concerns and ask the honest questions and do the research on understanding your individual health concerns. Thank you Dr. Willis for responding to my previous review.

Advanced Functional Medicine San Diego takes a truly holistic and personalized approach to health…read morethat goes far beyond traditional medicine. Instead of simply treating symptoms, they focus on understanding the root causes of what your body is experiencing. Through comprehensive and rigorous testing, you gain real insight into how your body is functioning, where your limitations may be, and what imbalances might be affecting your overall health. What impressed me most is how Sara took the time to review the results in detail and develop a clear, individualized plan designed to restore balance and bring your body back to optimal health. Their approach combines science, nutrition, and lifestyle strategies in a way that feels thoughtful, thorough, and empowering. If you're looking for a proactive and holistic path to improving your health--one that actually helps you understand your body rather than just mask symptoms--I highly recommend Advanced Functional Medicine San Diego.

If there was a "No star" rating, that's the one I would use…read more This clinic treats patients in Tijuana and makes absolute guarantees to kill cancer. My husband and I both fell for this as we were feeling pretty hopeless about traditional treatment when his large liver cancer tumor was discovered in October of 2016. After speaking extensively by phone with Joyce Lang, one of their Co-Directors, and doing online research, we took him to New Life Cancer Center (name is now apparently "American Holistic Care"....hmm....name change...?) for MRI targeted chemo treatments, called the "Sonata Plus" treatments, developed by Dr. Baofa Yu, M.D. of Beijing Baofa Cancer Research Center, which supposedly had fantastic results. A set of 3 treatments was recommended at the price of $18,000 cash per treatment. We got him to the clinic in November of 2016, just a few weeks after his diagnosis. Other Director/Owner (?) was Greg DiRienzo I believe his name is We returned home and he continued to have severe pain, for which we would take him to the nearest hospital's ER as we had not yet established a relationship with a pain management doctor. There they did a CT scan and we found that 3 weeks after his first round of treatment, his formerly 5 cm tumor was now 7 cm. We called the clinic right away and they said to get him back there for a "booster" treatment at which time the owners/directors assured us that this was how their treatment worked: When the targeted chemo blasts the tumor, at first it appears to expand, but that was only because it was breaking up and dying off and would soon pass through and be expelled through the body. This unfortunately was not the case. The tumor continued to grow, and they asked us to bring him back for 10 radiation treatments. I made the mistake of not flying out with him for this initially, but meeting him there a few days later, due to trying to keep my work going at some level to continue to bring money in. There was an injection of some kind that was crucial to be given before any radiation treatment to avoid a horrible, painful reaction that lasted for hours. No one gave this injection to my husband before his first radiation treatment and he did not realize the importance of it since no one made sure he'd had it. He began having horrible pain and a terrible reaction that night in his hotel room, late at night, and he was alone. Luckily the person who acted as concierge and driver for the clinic answered his cell phone that night. He came and took my husband to a hospital where he stayed for 2 or 3 days as he recovered from the extreme reaction he was going through. I arrived a day after all of this and found out about it then. My husband made me promise not to say anything to any of the doctors as he was still hopeful that the radiation treatments, which they did not charge for, would help kill his liver cancer and he did not want to "make waves". Each night after a treatment, he would be horribly sick and nauseous all night and could not sleep. It was a living hell that I hope to never be exposed to again. At the end of the ten radiation treatments, I met with the doctor for an exit visit. He told me that the radiation was only palliative and that they could not do anything more for my husband. He said that we needed to consider next steps through the American medical system. We came back home and were setting him up for traditional chemotherapy. The largest tumor had in fact shrunk a bit due to the radiation, but not enough. Before we could get him started on regular chemo, he became jaundiced and was hospitalized for 12 days, during which time he had a stent put in at the gall bladder area I believe. The next attempt to get him started on chemo failed when he developed ascites (bloating of the belly area due to the liver function failing), and he was again hospitalized to have the ascites drained, which began a series of draining procedures every two or three days until we had a drain surgically installed that we could use to drain off the fluid ourselves each day. No amount of pain meds ever seemed to touch his pain not only during this time, but during the entire treatment process at New Life Cancer Center and afterward. The entire episode was another nightmare. The oncologist who we were working with recommended then to call in Hospice, which we did. Within another couple of weeks, my husband was moved to a Hospice facility in Austin called Christopher House, where people who are about to pass can spend their final days in the care of kind and professional doctors and nurses who are there to alleviate their pain and make them as comfortable as possible. My husband died there on May 7th, 2017. Please be advised that an insider at the clinic told us that he was not aware that a single cancer patient had actually been cured by this treatment. I believe this is a scam run by people who prey on the fear and desperation of advanced cancer victims.

Ok. Here is what I have to say about the Kaiser positive Choice program…read more You WILL lose weight QUICKLY over the 20 week period by consuming only 500 calories per day and drinking tons of water. That's the easy part. You definitely have better mind clarity once you cancel out all of that background food noise. Coming off of it is another story. It just IS NOT REALISTIC to believe that the minute you start to increase your caloric intake again- to a normal level that you aren't going to gain weight back. You just do. I went thru the program 2x!!! Yes you go to classes each week to help you prepare for the world beyond the fasting, but it's just not enough. Both groups that went to- all of us gained weight back. We all did. And this is over a 2 year period and 25 different people. A friend of mine that works there told me that the program is a bunch of BS and that she feels bad for the patient the pay for this. I hope it works for someone. The prices continue to go up, but nothing changes. Something else I'd like to suggest to Kaiser- when you have an orientation night- serve everyone a shake- let them taste what they'll be committing to morning-noon and night for the next 20 weeks. A taste test. I wish everyone the best of luck. I've been on ZEPBOUND for 2 years and never felt better. All of my vitals are in excellent condition. I eat whatever I want to. It's the quantity that I'm in control of now. The weight has come off much slower- but I feel much better about keeping it off. My Insurance covers 100% of ZEPBOUND. I have a personal health coach and an amazing treatment plan with weekly classes that are superior to anything Kaiser "taught". (Check out an app for OMADA health) Insurance doesn't cover Positive Choice. Not one cent of it. Anyway, good luck to all of my fellow inner fatties. You're on the right path no matter what. If you're reading this, you've taken the first steps towards self help. I started in September 2024 and I've lost 90lbs. I've hit my goal weight, but I think a 5-10 safety space would be great- so almost there. Good Luck Everyone!
