Some history quirks are mentioned. For instance: why was the Sydney Opera House built over budget? Was the building of the Sydney Opera House Sydney's response to compete with Melbourne? An awesome city unfolds. See some amazing street art, and well as learn about an interesting tree at The Royal Botanical Gardens. Who knows you might get to touch the lucky pig. Discover the best parts of Macquarie Street, Hyde Park, Martin Place, The Ivy, Circular Quay and The Rocks. Gregg really knows his stuff. A walking encyclopaedia. Peek Tours has been around for about three years, and Gregg conducted such tours in Europe prior. All you need to do is turn up at your allocated time. Unless you wish to walk in a group of 10 or more people, bookings need to be made at least 24 hours in advance. Peek Tours also conducts a Party Tour and a Rocks Pub Walk. Had an awesome time. Check out the amazing group photos on their Facebook page. Although the tour is free upfront, tips are advised - pay for what you feel the experience was worth to you at the end. Priceless.

Upon arriving, Greg greeted me with a brief description of the beers at the first pub as well as an intro on the history of the Rocks areas. Each pub on the tour had a unique history and experience. I learned so much about the city and had a variety of beers that are only found in Australia. Greg answered all of my questions about the Rocks area as well as gave me helpful tips on how to have a "Barbie on the beach" on my walk from Coogee to Bondi tomorrow. Really great tour from an extremely knowledgeable local! Highly recommend!

We weren't sure if our tour would be impacted by the smoke and haze or not. First Paul kept us informed in the time leading up to our tour and even on the morning of the tour, Paul showed up saying he couldn't promise great visibility but he would try his best IF we wanted to go, if not, he totally understood and whatever we decided was fine. We couldn't believe how he much he was willing to work with us. We decided to give it a shot, we didn't have anything else planned it seemed a shame not to try. We are so glad we did. True the smoke did somewhat hamper our visibility but Paul did such a great job taking us to wonderful lookouts that were off the beaten path that we still did get to see some remarkable vistas. It almost looked otherworldly at times with just faint silhouettes of the mountains rising above the smoke. We had seen other visitors photos so felt like we were getting to see the Blue Mountains from a vantage point few others have experienced. Plus Paul taught us many thing about the flora, fauna and Tim Tam Slams along the way. After a super lunch, Paul thought of another place to take us so we could see some other great views in the Royal National Park that were not obscured by the smoke. It was breathtakingly beautiful and just went to show how versatile and fluid the tour could be. Paul really does go all out to make sure you have the best tour possible. He is extremely knowledgeable about a host of different subjects and was so laid back and easy to be around that he was an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Our entire group had a wonderful time. We highly recommend Blue Mountain Eco Tours.

Seriously it was that good. To start the owner does some of the tours and we were lucky enough to have him do our tour. We were picked up in what looked to be a brand new land rover. The car was super clean and nice. The tour started right away with interesting facts about the area and landmarks on the way to the mountain. We had a one and a half hour drive to the first spot. We veered off the road took the range rover off road for about 15 minutes to a secluded spot where we had snacks and tea and soaked up the scenery. It was very likely some of most breath taking views I have ever seem. It was so nice to be in the wilderness alone. We then went to another half dozen exclusive spots and were blown away with each spot including 3 sisters. The level of detail and planning that goes into this tour is amazing. We went after a rain storm and our guide changed the tour up to showcase the waterfalls. We were so excited to see them. This tour is not a bus tour and is so private and special. I hope you can find a time to book it.

Our bus wound it's way around the mountains to the caves, with many stunning vistas along the way. We met up at the large mouth to the cave opening. We saw several colorful birds around the outside of the cave and some wallabies too! Our guide gave us some information about the history of the caves and then our hike into the caves began. If you're not an experienced hiker, no need to worry. The tour through the cave is along a boardwalk with a hand rail for most of the areas where that there is a steep incline or rocky terrain. We entered in and wound our way through several passages and stops within the Lucas Cave - including the underground river, the cathedral chamber/cove where choirs come to sing, and a stop where we all turned off our phones or flashlights and got to experience pure darkness that drove many cave explorers mad back in the day! Our guide also showed us many rock formations that cave hikers used to find their way within the cave's many routes. In the choir cove, the guide turned out all the guide lights and showed us that they have a light show installed within the cave as well, which was very neat to see. We hiked our way out and around the beautiful Blue Lake, before heading back to Sydney. A quick day-long trip to see mountains, caves, and a little bit of wildlife!

Dated to be about 340 million years old the Jenolan Caves are the most ancient open caves in the world spanning more than 25 miles multileveled with over 300 entrance points following the subterranean section of the Jenolan River. I am so interested in caves because they are like a secret world full of mystery, wonder and excitement. With 16 caves to explore, Jenolan offers all kinds of adventures for every different level of cave exploring for all ages young and old. The most popular cave is the Lucas cave. Since we were here for a few hours and could only choose 1 that was the unanimous vote by our group. The tour takes about 1.5 hours. Our tour group was large and the guide did a good job keeping everyone together to prevent straggling and further damage. The high lights for me is the underwater river, stalactites and stalagmites with their interesting names (I can't remember any of them now) and the brilliant colors. I was able to take some fantastic pictures and enjoyed it all. Parts of the hike can be difficult for those not in the best of health. However, I can say many of us were kind to wait for those back in the pack giving kind words of encouragement. Our guide was very informative providing interesting tid bits of information and answering all questions asked. She explained the geology of the formation and what the cave means to different groups of people. She also said the acoustics are so good, better than any where else in the world man made or natural. Some people have had events in the main chamber for celebration including weddings. For the heavy peek season it may be better to make reservations. We were able to get up there and pick a time slot when to go. You choose the cave, if it is open, and the time. Meet your guide at a particular location close to the entrance of the cave and begin your tour. This particular tour was about $35.00 Aussie. You may have to wait for a little while before your tour begins. This was a good time for us to get a bite to eat because the drive up is over an hour. Driving through many country roads was quite enjoyable actually. So green and cool with lots to see, stop and do. But I digress. If you didn't bring any food you have a few choices. Chisolm's Restaurant was closed for us. This was designed in 1871 for the wealthy land owners. If you want to dine like you in the bling here's your chance to bling out. If you just want a drink you can hang at Jeremiah's Bar & Lounge. This was closed to us too. Maybe it was too early in the day. Jeremiah is Jeremiah Wilson the first official Jenolan Cave guide considered a good looking, red haired Irish not just a cave explorer but a notorious ladies' man. I wonder if being a cave man has an impact on that kind of life style? What was open? Caves Cafe is where we were able to get small plates at a moderate prices. As a suggestion you might be better off bringing your own brown paper bag lunch. Save you money for some better eats in the towns close by. I was amazed to see the number of creatures about. A beggar red parrot. Sorry I had no food. A large swimming lizard trying to decide how threatening I would be. And a wombat crossing the road without any care in the world who everyone was or why they were taking pictures. I think he just wanted to get to the other side. He did allow me to take many pictures. So photogenic too. There are a few short hiking trails you could explore. Some have aggressive ascents. Check with park staff for weather conditions and health risks before beginning any hike. Part of our group tried to do this but turn back after winds got fierce. You could do what I did. Go up high enough to get a few down perspective shots of the surrounding are. Very picturesque actually. Visiting the Jenolan Caves in the Blue Mountains is an absolute treasure. I would love to go back to explore other caves. Maybe in the pitch dark. Nah. Maybe not.

I purchased the Go City Pass and was able to redeem one of the attraction options for the bus. They have two routes: The red route (city center), and the blue route (beaches). I took the red route. I was able to get a ticket at the Central Station stop. There was an attendant posted at the bus stop who was very helpful with ticket redemption. He also gave me info on the bus routes and schedule. If you download the app, you can track the buses in real time. Your ticket comes with headphones that you can use for the audio guide. The audio tour has multiple language options. The bus is great if you want to use it to take a sightseeing tour. The entire circuit takes 1.5 hours for the blue route and 1.75 hours for the red route. Along the way we saw major sites like the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. I took the bus to the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium and then continued the rest of the route after my visit. Both drivers that I had weren't great at giving enough time for patrons to get on/off the bus. It takes a bit longer since it's a double decker bus. At one point, patrons had to yell to the driver to stop because people were still trying to make their way off the bus from the upper deck. There's a security camera on board so I assumed the driver can see when everyone has entered/exited the bus, but maybe not. My one piece of advice: Do not rely on the bus for transportation if you are in a hurry. There are a lot of stops and it can take time. At one point on the way back from the Aquarium, the driver took a 20 minute break. I contemplated getting off because I was running short on time, but luckily it worked out. The bus is a great way to explore the city and can be a nice form of transportation if you aren't pressed for time.

This worked quite well because it gave us flexibility as we explored Sydney. A one day bus pass is $65 AUD/$42 USD. So easy to collect our passes for the day using the Go City app. Nice that they could accommodate a rollator on the first level for my dad, while my husband and I climbed the stairs to the open top second level. Made a full loop to get a good overview of the city on the Red Loop. Sydney Opera House. Hyde Park. St. Mary's Cathedral. Barangaroo. Woolloomoolo Bay. State Library. The Rocks. Sydney Harbor Bridge. Royal Botanic Gardens. Darling Harbor. King Street Wharf. The audio which is in multiple languages gave a nice introduction to the major attractions in Sydney. Hopped on at Sydney Tower/Westfield Sydney. Definitely look on the app to find the pickup location which is actually near a jewelry store. The app shows a photo of the pickup location. So easy to take the bus to the Royal Botanical Garden and the Sydney Opera House. Also used the Go City Sydney card for booking an accesible tour of the Sydney Opera House. The Hop On Hop Off Buses are not on a specific schedule, so it was a bit of a challenge with the schedule. Buses only run until 5. Good for an overview of the city, but also used UBER to get from place to place.
