They do the full range of swimming and diving lessons and I believe there's a gym and exercises classes somewhere but as it's not my thing I couldn't comment.

Luckily, you've still got a fair few options that don't include just private gyms at your disposal. One being Bramley Baths. Now public baths do usually feel me with fear but not here. It's a nice venue, clean, tidy and very pleasant to woke away the tensions of the day in. What's more they got a steam room. Result! My advice is to avoid anytime's when a gaggle of kids will be about. Easier said than done but they do offer lane swimming sessions, women only sessions and various options that mean you're more likely to get a good swim in rather than fight against a child induced tidal wave. Good work Leeds city council, I'm liking your style.

The changing facilities are good (why can't all swimming pools have decent-sized family changing cubicles?) and the prices quite reasonable. There will be bigger and more exciting swimming pools up and down the country I'm sure, but for what it is this particular swimming pool cannot be faulted. Our two kids (now aged 3 and 5) love it.

The pool is 1.4m deep and approximately 15 x 10 metres. There is a chill out area surrounding the pool, along with a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The gym offers a good range of equipment, including two running machines, three cross trainers, four bikes, one rowing machine, two weights machines and more. There is also a weights room for those wanting to focus! After exercising, the changing rooms have powerful hot showers with Gilchrist and Soames shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Also great hairdressers and straightners for the ladies! Want some pampering? There are various packages - a day or couple of hours etc. Facials and massages tried and tested - and I would highly recommend them. If you go for the Premier club (gym, pool, sauna etc) membership you get a complimentary spa treatments per month - so cool! Parking is completely free around the centre, though beware of rolling trolleys in high winds! There's also a good bus service and for anyone walking in, I wouldn't recommnd the walk alone but all footpaths are safe and a way from the road. The Rainbow leisure centre has a main hall, squash courts, a pool room and bar, a library, a cafe, a gym, pool and a smaller hall usually used for aerobics classes or bouncy castle parties. It's open 7 days a week and offers pretty much any sport you can ask for. You can hire it out for quite a few things, I've been to Bouncy castle parties here and I have been to an 18th here once. The library isn't always open though so look up the times before you go. The cafe is situated above the hall so any parents can look down and watch their children in various sports. Prices are moderate, but you can only start to book cours 24 hours before unless you're a member at the leisure centre. By joining you get to go to a number of places around Middlesbrough. The staff are all really polite and I only have one small annoyance about this place that because of the balcony you're often subject to people leaning over and wolfwhistling as you play badminton or sqaush.

Having only ever used two facilities here they are all I can comment on. Childrens parties: We had a bouncy castle which was a great hit with the kids, and then went into a room in which there was a full platter of finger foods and a birthday cake. They do offer different kinds of kids party such as roller disco's. Swimming: There are two pools; a small heated childrens pool and a larger pool. The small pool is brilliant for bringing babies and toddlers swimming and is regularly monitored that there is only a certain number of people in the pool to avoid over crowding. The larger pool is often sectioned off into two ares, a lanes swimming area and then an open pool area for the people who don't wish to swim in lanes. The changing rooms are normally quite clean and tidy although the air conditioning can make it a bit cold. There are 4 showers in the female changing rooms as well as a couple of toilets. Lockers are provided for everyone to use and cost £1 which you get back at the end of your session.
