I had visited the Roundup Building Center located in Belle Fourche a couple of times for a few $100 purchases for electrical supplies; wiring, outlets, switches, breakers, etc. My service was relatively good on the first visits. On January 9th 2023, I went to the Roundup Building Center to purchase locks for my home. I bought three sets of door entry and dead bolts manufactured by the best lock company in the USA. I knew it would be expensive, around $270 for the three sets. Of course I would need them all keyed alike. I took the locks home and installed them, not too tough of a job for an engineer with forty five years of experience. One of the three entry locks was defective and the handle could be turned when the door was locked. So, I took it back to return it. The assistant manager immediately started sniveling about how "they would have to eat the price" as their vendor wouldn't take it back. He really became unpleasant to deal with, but reluctantly started working on re-keying the newly exchanged lock. I really wanted to do is tell this guy that his vendor relationships on a faulty products he sold me wasn't my problem but didn't. I was unhappy with the service and the person supplying it and just wanted to get finished and get out of there. I also had him make two new keys. The key I gave him was a good heavy factory key and he should have used it to make the two new keys. The four keys I originally took home all worked in all locks. The new keys I received back were really cheap low- end key blanks not from the vendor of the locks like I received the day before. One of the two new keys wouldn't unlock the deadbolts. The hardware to mount my exchanged lock was also not present. I took the lock I just picked up that was missing hardware and the keys I just bought back to the store again. I showed the salesperson why the keys didn't work. The two new keys were labeled good and bad after I tried them in my locks at home. I also supplied one good original factory key for him to use so he could try again. I then decided to buy a $100 kitchen sink faucet while I was waiting. So far for this experience, I had just spent $370. I was dumbfounded when the person I was working with brought back another key he had just made from the key marked bad and told me he threw away the key marked good. He went on to state that the key marked bad was the original key to which I said that no it wasn't, I gave you a factory key that I got originally with the locks I bought that worked with all of the lock sets they sold me and he started arguing with me. I showed him the gold factory key factory key which I still had in my hand. He was able to make the disassembled lock work with the key he had just made by jumbling it around in the dissembled lock. After three trips to the store and expending $370, all I managed to get was the oration of a whiny employee about returning defective products they sold me, a jumbled up disassembled replacement lock missing hardware, and I came back to the store with two working keys and departed with two keys that didn't. I had paid for these new keys. Of course they didn't work when I tried them at home. The new keys weren't free. I politely told him again, that it doesn't work on the two deadbolts I just bought that were actually installed. The salesperson then replied and I quote, "Well, I can't help you ", and with that, turned and walked off. I was left standing there looking at all of my items strewn about the counter as he disappeared around the corner. That I was amazed and dumbstruck doesn't quite say it. I guess this company survives off large construction orders from local people they know. Retail is obviously something they hate and can't do well and the retail area is always empty when I go in. I encountered the two "backbones of the company" that waited on me walking out behind me, no doubt to head out to lunch. Wouldn't want to delay their lunch break or ask them to do any work. My measly $370 purchase wasn't enough to get them to provide the service any decent store would offer. If these two gentlemen complain directly to the customer when a broken or defective product is returned, who can't make three keys the same, and obviously doesn't care if I ever come back, so be it. I will never purchase as much as a screw or nail from that place in the future. I took the whole mess to a lock company in Spearfish, SD and they corrected the issues caused by the previous vendor who sold me the locks. They lost an opportunity to gain a new customer who would have bought products they sold regularly on a continuous basis over two keys that didn't work that they made.

Really horrible experience with this sub-contractor. I would call them a construction company, but…read morethey are not. They sub-contract only. 1.) They fraudulently give you a piece of paper and say, "here, sign this, it will let us talk to your insurer". If you don't read the contingent contract, that's what you're siging. It's solid. You use their sub-contracted services, or you pay 10%. 2.) They promise every 2 weeks to have someone there and to contact you. I had crap sitting in my driveway for 6 months before the sub-contracted crew showed up to do my house. Without notifying me first... they just showed up. No one called. No one said they will be at your house at X date and time". 3.) If you were stupid enough to show them your adjustor's report, they will bill you the full amount, PLUS your deductible. This clearly shows they have little regard for YOU, only YOUR MONEY. The deductible that COULD HAVE been used to fix your house, goes into their pockets as profit. 4.) Shoddy work, poor materials. While they're quick to attempt to repair the shoddy work, the work was shoddy to begin with. You're paying top dollar for bottom work. It's like spending the money on a Mercedes, and only getting a Pinto. 5.) Once they get your money, you'll never hear from them again. Do yourself a favor and call any actual construction company in Spearfish to get their opinion. Just horrible. A true construction company would have a dedicated and well-trained crew to provide the best labor and best products. Allied sub-contracts everything to the lowest bidder to get the most money at the lowest cost. Choose another company. Even a one-man-band will do better.

DO NOT SHOW THEM YOUR ADJUSTORS REPORT…read more DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UNLESS YOU ARE CERTAIN YOU WANT TO USE THEM (i.e. lose money to them). We made the mistake of showing them our Adjuster's report. They send out inexperienced "appraisers" whose job it is to get to that report. They want to know how much they can bill you and how little they can pay their sub-contracted (i.e. hired at Home Depot parking lot) workers. Suckered us into the contingent contract. Didn't clean up. Nails everywhere in my driveway. Didn't complete about $5,000 worth of work,got paid anyway. Lawyer said it wasn't worth court as the fees would exceed this. Not recommended.

first of all it took them over a year to call what they claim is finished. used different colored…read moresiding that didn't match the existing. missing trim pieces. was charged for and didn't replace hail damaged garage door trim on both doors. nails sticking out half way that nail gun didn't get in and just left anyways. this was the second time using them hoping they were better then the first time. claim was over$30k and poor quality of work done and not even finished. will not be using them ever again. ​

After months and months of waiting they gave us the run around, they did not complete their end of the contract,they even cut a piece of our original siding off saying they need to submit to our insurance to sunmit for a full wrap! In the end they wanted more money to just complete one side of the house! Fired them on the spot! Go with an established local company..the owner is from Portland! Lesson learned!
