OK...so I went to the OB/GYN the other day…read more... Well, maybe not. However, my wife did so this isn't the strangest review...or is it? Anyway, she raved and raved about Dr. Kleiss like I would rave about a pie from Lombardis. Professional, very friendly, personable, comfortable, informative, and all those other things. She did all the woman things perfectly, better than anyone ever in history. Got it? Good. So there you have it. She gets top dog rating and every woman should use Dr. Kleiss from this day forward! Update: I got to meet Dr. Kleiss recently and I have to say she is great. Relaxing and down to earth demeanor which settles you down about big things (like up and coming babies).

I got pregnant…read morethe month after she operated to remove a uterine polyp that was probably preventing pregnancy. And, though I wasn't thrilled to need a C-section, I was thrilled to have Dr. Kleiss doing it - my scar is practically invisible and I had a smooth recovery. But over the 7+ years I have been seeing her, it became clear that this practice probably isn't the best fit for me. Dr. Kleiss is very cool, relaxed, and friendly, and her general MO is to very confidently convey that everything is fine. This probably puts most people at ease, but for me--and I know I have anxiety issues--it does the opposite. I like data, and (what I perceive) as overconfidence makes me nervous, which causes me to ask more questions to verify. Which causes the provider to become irritated with me and probably write "difficult" in my chart a la Seinfeld https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyossoHFDJg. A lot of times, she was right and there was nothing to worry about. But sometimes my concerns were right... she was confident that I didn't have any fertility issues, but when I pushed for testing we found a polyp ... she played down my feeling that the baby was breech, but I was right and we found out too late to turn the baby. Basically, it just became a cycle where I never trusted her assurances and she was automatically skeptical of any concern I raised. (Full disclosure, there was also an incident where I was left in a waiting room alone with no windows for over an hour and got pretty upset - the sad kind, not the angry kind... not real proud of that one, but I was going to be late for something important... after that incident I always brought my computer and expected to be there at least 2.5 hours) At some point, things turned and I just never felt comfortable there anymore. I felt like I had a not-entirely-deserved reputation that I could never overcome. But I can't complain - I have a healthy baby and my torso isn't completely wrecked yet. And now I have switched to an OB practice I feel much more comfortable with (hopefully they don't request my records and suddenly turn cold!)

After just one visit, I'm sold on Dr. Anita Smith and her team. Note: After requesting a new-patient visit, I had to 3 months for the next new-patient appointment, so if you're considering switching practices, I recommend getting that first visit in asap. Dr. Smith was kind, thoughtful, and listened well. The support staff was efficient, friendly, and communicative. Everyone I met there asked me about myself and made me feel comfortable. Wait times were not out of the ordinary, and my visit was completed in a timely manner. I appreciate how Dr. Smith shared with me that she prefers her patients to only take medications when needed. I get the sense that we may similar perspectives on treating the whole body as a whole instead of getting too focused on a particular symptom and also on being open to treatments that, while studied and safe, may not be someone's first idea. (I'm not referring to covid, by the way. We did not need to discuss anything related to the pandemic during our visit.) Parking is a breeze. Bathrooms are available. I'd recommend!

Quite frankly I'm surprised he has not run this practice into the ground. There is no reason for anyone to be a patient here now or in the future.

I couldn't breathe, my heart wasn't working as it should, and I couldn't physically move around. I made an appointment to see her. Dreading the typical response I had been getting "Lose weight! Eat less, move more! Have gastric bypass surgery!" That I had gotten from every doctor BEFORE her. I go in, explain my situation, explain my previous lifestyle before this started, and she says, " we will figure this out." And she DID! I am now more active, able to play with my 2-year-old granddaughter and get out to visit with friends. I do not like to take normal prescriptions, preferring to use a more natural remedy whenever possible, she is highly knowledgeable about alternative medicine and traditional medicine giving me the perfect treatment for my way of life. Her bedside manner is great! In life, I truly believe you are treated the way you treat others. She always listens intently, explains things thoroughly, and always follows up. They do have a deck + regular parking, but the crew take up at least 50 spots. Insane. I mean.... if your wife is pregnant and you're dropping her off at the hospital across the street, I hope she waits at least 20 mins before giving birth, lol... because you'll have to really drive around for a spot. Lobby is fairly large - so many chairs! Make sure to check in & etc. My old gyno really made me mad last year & so I decided to find a new one. My colleague referred Rachel Burt to me. She's pretty friendly & kind. Has a huge smile on her face the entire time, lol - not sure if that's her personality or mainly for her clients, but her bubbly personality is cool to talk to and very calming while having an annual exam. I am young and used to not being listened to, but this visit took it to the worst possible level. Dr. Mabile has ignored my pain on multiple visits before this since 2022 and never provided any medication or numbing, but what I experienced with Dr. Illston can only be described as casual cruelty. She first left me in the room for over 45 minutes, then came in and out repeatedly, leaving for long periods. She also refused to re-prescribe me my birth control, which cost about $2.00 with insurance, even after I asked. She instead prescribed me Slynd (which they seem to be pushing lately), which costs over $200 even with insurance. During the pap smear "attempt," I was given no pain relief, and she ignored my discomfort and pain and tried to tell me that a tampon and speculum were the same size; therefore, this should be no problem. She also inquired about my sexual activity and virginity status, then recommended penetrative sex as a way to get used to the pain. Needless to say, her comments were extremely inappropriate and rude, bordering on discriminatory language. I would not recommend this practice to any woman of color or queer person, as they are not affirming or understanding in the slightest. Dr. Illston, in particular, should be fired. For such a medically invasive field, one would hope they'd be better, but practice does not care about you or your feelings.

I've been going to them for about five or six years now, most of that time being attended to by Dr. Casey. Salt spray, space crabs and my status as an iconoclastic redhead have conspired against me and my poor epidermal layer. While we goofy straight guys might not manage to take care of our skin quite as well as folks like Joel C. it doesn't mean that we shouldn't try!!

Great sense of humor, great bedside manner, and a great doctor too. He's fantastic and I highly recommend him. The Doctor is sweet, kind, and accommodating. It's unfortunate that all other interactions with the support staff are negative, condescending and unwelcoming.Compassion can't be taught, but perhaps a refresher on discretion and professionalism.
