The first time we ate here, we had good food and service. The second night, it was a whole different experience. We were ripped off and didn't eat half the food.
2 stars because some things are good like the octopus starter and desserts. And there are clearly some good people serving the customers.
They charge a cover charge you see on the bill, coperto. This really pisses me off because if we are eating several courses including desserts and drinking wine, you are going to charge for bread and plates? I asked the manager at my hotel, even he said that while it is customary in Italy to charge for bread and water, it should be 1 to 1.5 euros per person. They charged 6 euros and there were only two of us, so rip off!
So, they justify these sneaky charges by saying it pays for the plates, etc. Well, we didn't get any plates! After the starter, while I was still eating a piece of bread, the man took our plates, brought us our secondi to share and a pizza to share and no plates.
So at the end of the meal, my bread sat on the tablecloth with several stains. You can eat off the tablecloth but not off plates. But you pay extra for plates, and don't get plates! See how it goes?
Okay, I'm game. Eat pizza with no plates, not the worst thing. If the pizza wasn't a watery, soggy mess in the middle! I tried to eat one piece that I cut myself, so not too big. The middle just dripped with watery mess on my shirt and the tablecloth from which you are supposed to eat your food. I stopped eating. That was it. If I can't eat the food without looking like a caveman, I'm done.
Hmm, so why the hell do we have ridiculously watery pizza? It might be because they put uncooked sausage on the pizza so when it gets to the table, IT'S STILL UNCOOKED!!!! I don't care where in the world you are, you don't eat uncooked pork on any product! It also tells me the sauce was likely thinned out because they are being cheap. If there is one thing that I can't stand, it's a bread product soaked, not in a sauce or oil, but WATER! It is disgusting.
Is it because we are American and they hate Americans? Maybe. But we stopped eating and ordering so we were spared the 70-100 euro bill. Not to be outdone, we were charged 6 euros for bread and water and the bill came to $51. That is excessive. We left hungry and pissed off! read more
