I previously visited this restaurant back in 2019 and received such shocking service, that it warranted a written apology from the management. Cut to 4 years later, I decided to give this place another go. Whilst an improvement on last time from general service perspective, the food was still average and very overpriced. Anyway, I was prepared to let it go this time, until a month later when I got a parking fine of £100 through the post! Now apparently they have signs - Yet unless there are a huge number of visually impaired restaurant goers in Mansfield, then they are clearly not adequate enough given the huge number of complaints about this money making racket on review sites. I also have to put my registration into an ipad at the gym, but there's a huge poster there to remind me. How difficult would it have been for the servers to mention this when taking your order or for them to put something on the door you push into the venue? Anyway, I hope the 167 one star Tripadvisor reviews (and counting) and loss of many many returning customers has been worth it Ill Rosso. I'm afraid your glory days are over. read more

Il Rosso has long been the local pub that I've always headed to - to begin when I lived at home and then to meet friends when I came to visit. But this was the first time I'd visited their restaurant at the back. It was, frankly, amazing. Be warned it can be disappointing if you head there on a busy Sunday evening and find that they're out of a bunch of the meals, particularly in the Sunday roast options. Luckily for me they still had my fillet steak - perfectly done medium rare with some beautiful tuscan potatoes. Paired with a nice starter, lovely dessert and crisp white wine (I know, steak and white wine was a bit of a faux pas...) this was a beautiful dinner. Me and 3 friends went there for the first time on Wednesday, and it was a lovely experience. The food was fantastic. If you order before 7 you can choose from a menu of starters, mains and desserts for £12. There is limited choice on this menu and only one vegetarian option. If you dont go for this menu, there is a wider variety of choices including several vegetarian options. A main course costs between £7 and £15, and the desserts are £5.50. The staff were really helpful, and nice. They do add a service charge to the bill of 8%. read more

Nice resturant. The atmosphere is lovely and I would definatly reccommend it to friends. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is alot of choice on the menus and the prices are extremely reasonable. As already mentioned, they do add a service charge to the bill at the end of the evening, but this is not that bad. They do provide a great service, so I was happy to pay this. Lovely place to go for a meal with friends or family. read more

Yay! I am a fan, but on this occasion I was disappointed. They used to do the most amazing bolognaise calzone pizza and then removed it from the menu, for years! On visiting last weekend I saw it back on the menu and had no hesitation ordering. How disappointing! It came with the smallest 'chunk' of what looked like roast beef (from the Sunday menu based on the appearance of my partner's sunday roast) with a cold thin tomato sauce poured over it. The rest of the calzone was completely empty. I complained and have to praise the waiter who was brilliant. It was replaced with something more acceptable, but still simply shredded roast beef with tomato sauce; this time a little more and warmer but still inadequate. I definitely won't order this again, but we will return to Il Rosso, as generally the food is excellent. read more

Only go to Il Rosso if you want to come out hungry, pay over the odds and eat your meal in a noisy restaurant where you are so close to the table next to you, you think you are in a huge group. Oh and if you want the waitress to be sarcastic and rude - Il Rosso is your place to be. read more
