The bar looks like the bar in The Shining if the Overlook Hotel had been run by people who actually wanted you to enjoy yourself and not get murdered. The staff are proud of the place and you can feel it, that specific warmth of people who know they're working somewhere worth working. Service like that can't be trained. You either care or you don't. These people care. The food is spectacular. The drinks are better than the food. I'm going to let that sit there because the food is spectacular. I'm not here to tell anyone how to live their life, but bringing your kids to House of Stefas is like using a Lamborghini to pick up mulch. You can do it. It's a free country. But this is a place you take someone when you want them to fall in love with you. This is the restaurant equivalent of a third date where everything goes right. I saw families dining here with children who would be happy with chicken fingers. I don't understand it. House of Stefas is doing things to my palate that I didn't think were possible in the Hudson Valley. Five stars.
