All the staff I encountered are very helpful with suggestions and friendly. Be sure to enter through the store entrance and not the member room! (Unless you're a member of course.) Doc's selection is unparalleled in Westchester. They are one of the only stores that regularly get rare exclusives like the Opus X. The cigars in the cabinets are always properly stored and humidified. I can't tell you how often I saw dried out or over-humidified cigars at other shops. Doc's is a bit pricey, but their quality and selection speak for themselves. read more

This is my regular go to store. The selection is great and they frequently have sales. Customer service is great and they are able to give excellent feedback on different brands. They are further from my home than other shops but we'll worth it. read more

This place has the largest cigar selection in Westchester plus it has an awesome lounge / absolutely love this place The owner Adam and his staff are very helpful with picking out perfect cigars Coming from somebody that smokes cigars frequently I highly recommend Doc James Cigars in Shrub Oak Plaza Next door to the Shell Gas Station. read more

Nice place, but the service is horrible. Every time I go there it seems like they hate answering questions, and they only help customers that they know. Especially the older gentleman who works there, they should really think about having better customer service, I spend too much money on good cigars to go to a stuffy, rude environment to enjoy my hobby. read more

Doc James is an Oasis for Cigar Enthusiasts in Northern Westchester. They have a large selection of all the popular brands plus they are constantly finding unique cigars not available in most places. Prices are reasonable, staff is knowledgable. If you live in the area, they have a great club membership available with all the benefits of Manhattan Cigar clubs with a more reasonable dues structure. read more

Just over two years ago I found Doc James Cigars and Golf. It has since been my go to spot for all things cigars. After becoming a member two Octobers ago I have not looked back. Adam the owner, is a wealth of knowledge and has given me great insight into the world of cigars. Doc James is the only place you need for premium cigars in the Hudson Valley. read more

This place is like the bar from the TV show "Cheers" but instead of drinks it sells cigars. Not only does everyone know your name when you walk in and shake everyone's hand they all give you a big shout out. Having purchased cigars almost exclusively online for years I now only purchase them from Adam and DJ. Both of them are extremely knowledgeable and always have a great recommendation when I ask. With both a retail store and a cigar club it is the best of both worlds for me- a place to purchase great smokes and a lounge to relax and enjoy the company of a great group of fellow cigar smokers. read more

Doc James is by far the best cigar shop in Westchester County! The owner, Adam greeted me when I walked in, even though he had other customers. Found the store to be well stocked with brands that I love. I tried some cigars that Adam recommended, and was pleased, especially with the San Latano Ovals! Great service and a fabulous members lounge which I may join. read more

Very nice retail shop with a large selection of the very best cigars out on the market. The staff and owner are very knowledgeable and very friendly. If you are looking for a very nice place to meet new people, hang out watch sports and enjoy a few of those tasty sticks then the Doc James Cigar Lounge is the place for you. History

Established in 1993.

Doc James dating back to the 1960's was a part time pipe and tobacco shop. In 1993 Adam DeSiena bought it, opened it full time and geared the business more towards premium cigars. The cigar boom hit in 1996 and Doc James has never looked back. The business has grown over the years and is now housed in a 2,000 square foot space. 2013 will be the launch of the DeSiena 312 cigar exclusively manufactured by Doc James, which will be distributed nationally.

Meet the Business Owner: Adam D.

Adam bought and transformed Doc James in 1993, 20 years later the store has grown and he now is delving into the manufacturing side of the premium cigar market. In 2004 Adam expanded his business to include his passion of golf. Now Doc James Cigars & Golf includes Tommy Bahama, Callaway and Nike golf products.

If you smoke cigarettes, you have to try their "roll your own" version of Marlboro brand cigarettes. They are great, no chemicals, no additives, and HALF the price of regular cigarettes. They also have a nice selection of lighters, cigarette cases, and various pipes for those that like to smoke tobacco, or whatever, from a pipe. They will let you sample the roll your own version of cigarettes when you stop by. If you smoke, give this place a try. Cheaper cigs, and they are less harsh. How can it go wrong??? I've been a Doc James customer and Club Member for more than a year. Contrary to the review by Derek L, the service is superb and a club membership is a rewarding social outlet, especially for a disabled guy with driving restrictions. Furthermore, I have been a Davidoff "addict", i.e., only smoke Davidoff, since 1982--Grand Cru #1 and #2, being my cigar of choice (smoke 4-5/day). Adam and his staff have enhanced my Davidoff knowledge base extensively. They helped me find new Davidoff options and now I'm a Millenium fan, the Piramide being my favorite. I have been a customer of Doc James for many years. I am an avid cigar smoker (3-4 p.day) and there is no better place to get any type of cigar you desire and then sit down and enjoy it with friends and with strangers that become friends. If your thing is to just buy a stick or box once in a while to enjoy elsewhere, you couldn't find a more knowledgeable staff that can answer all of your questions and find that perfect cigar for your taste. I have been purchasing cigars from Doc James for over 15 years -- way back since they were operating out of the trailer near the Getty Station. Their products, selection, quality, professional assistance -- and, most importantly, proper pre-sale care of their products (i.e., proper humidification, etc.) has always been "top notch."
