I've now tried 4 different dishes at Il Posto and they are all so wonderful! Excellent service and the complementary bread is soft and buttery. The 4 dishes I've tried is cheese ravioli with Alfredo sauce (soft noodles stuffed with cheese and a generous portion of sauce), chicken Asiago (so much flavor), Parmesan crusted flounder with linguine and lemon cream sauce (the fish was so fluffy and the crust didn't flake off, the sauce was very good), shrimp scampi (the shrimp was very fresh and the lemon butter sauce was tangy). My wife and I had some business downtown so we decided on an early dinner at the newest restaurant downtown. The restaurant was done nicely with tables instead of booths. The greeter sat us at a table for 2, even though they weren't that busy. I had fettuccine alfredo with chicken and my wife had spaghetti and meatballs. The chicken in the alfredo sauce was not fresh, probably frozen. The meatballs were frozen from a bag. The sauces were very good and the noodles were properly cooked. Service was very good. They have just recently opened in Kerrville. We came in on Sunday for lunch and it was packed. I had spaghetti with meatballs that were quite good. My husband had the calamari and it was a little too chewy, but not bad. The people at the table next to us had lasagna and it looked delicious. Next time I plan on ordering the eggplant parmesan. The server was courteous and knowledgeable. So far, the best Italian food in Kerrville. We will definitely be back. read more

Grabbed lunch with a friend over the weekend. Parking was available thankfully but close by on street parking seems minimal in this area. There is a larger public lot and a nearby parking garage within walking distance. We were seated right away as the restaurant was still pretty empty at 11:30 am. The restaurant has an old time yet elegant feel to it which was nice. We were brought bread shortly after ordering and cold butter. Thankfully I remembered seeing dipping oil on the menu so I flagged our waitress down and asked for some. While I feel that oil should be complimentary it was absolutely delicious and full of flavor from the garlic and fresh basil. I would give it a 10/10 if I had to rate it and would highly recommend it. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan, which was very good. The eggplant had a crisp out layer and was tender on the inside. I also enjoyed the marinara that it was cooked in, it tasted fresh and homemade which was a relief. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed in how overcooked my spaghetti was and didn't eat it due to this. As someone who is Italian, I expect my pasta to be al dente especially when dining in an Italian restaurant. Perhaps this was a fluke...I would give them the benefit of the doubt and return with hopes of not getting overcooked pasta next time. After lunch I ordered a black coffee and a slice of chocolate mousse cake for dessert. The coffee tasted fresh but was rather weak and flavorless, and the chocolate mousse cake was bland and lacked richness. Unfortunately, I left hungrier than I expected. So far we have eaten here twice. My bride has had the same thing, Parmesan crusted flounder, which she has fallen in love with. I have tried 2 different dishes and both have been very good. The service both times was good, not great, but not terrible either. It does seem a bit crowded and can be noisy but again, not a deal breaker. I tend to be fairly particular in my review of restaurants, as I want a meal outside my home to be a unique experience either by exceptional food/service or an overall welcoming environment. As for IL Posto, the experience is good though I think there is a little room for improvement. But I mean that in a sincerely good way as I sense they are still coming in to their own rhythm. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the food is good, but it feels at times they are still ironing out some things from a process and execution standpoint. The menu is good, and the atmosphere is welcoming though not substantially formal, think "familiar and charming". I think this restaurant is easily better than the average restaurant in town, there's honestly more than enough marginal restaurants in this community. I will be dining here again in the future and I'm excited to see restaurants like this here in Kerrville. read more

I came in today for a late lunch around 230/3. I was seated by a Busser and then got my drink order taken by my waitress. The owner (I'm assuming) needed my waitress for something upstairs so she was gone most of the time, but I was well taken care of by the man who sat me. Their sweet tea was great which was a huge plus but the $28 entree I ordered was totally flavorless. It was intended to come with a white wine cream sauce, but it looked and tasted more like pasta water with tomato juice. I ordered a seafood entree which I was worried would taste fishy, it didn't at all! The crab and shrimp on the entree tasted very fresh, the scallops as well just overcooked. When I closed out I asked my waitress who was back downstairs now if they tip shared between their staff, because I wanted to make sure both her and the gentlemen both received a tip. Her reply was, "no, but you can just leave the whole thing to him if you want. Thank you." And walked off while I was speaking. So I responded across the restaurant that I wanted to make sure they both were taken care of, and proceeded to leave 2 $20 dollar bills in cash (I don't like my wait staff having to lose out on taxed tips) on my $85 dollar tab. I gave 2 stars because of the lack of flavor and the infestation of bar gnats that interrupted the duration of my meal... but would be open to coming back to try a different entree! Maybe an off day? Great summer dishes and best sauce ever! The roasted red pepper bruschetta was on homemade crustini bread and the bread basket had beautiful homemade rolls. My mom was in town visiting which made it a great reason to try Il Posto for the first time. We arrived around 6 pm on a Friday night and it was already pretty busy. I order the house special Paesano wonderful, small peppers were a little hot but just right for this dish. Also order the potato Zappa OMG wonderful. My husband and I visited this italian restaurant while on vacay. A shop owner in Ingram recommended it to us stating it is new to downtown Kerrville and just opened. We were served hot homemade buttered bread upon arrival. I ordered the ziti chicken & mushroom lunch special which was very tasty. The ziti was cooked al dente' and the sauce was nice, bold and flavorful. My husband ordered the chicken angel hair pomodoro which was flavorful as well, but somewhat on the spicy side. The pomodoro sauce had a nice little kick at the end. The ambience was quiet and relaxing with soft easy listening music in the background. The prices were very affordable for the downtown historic area. Both plates were clean upon departure and we will definitely return when we are visiting Kerrville in the near future. read more

It was all right. We were given rolls after a sitting a little and they were all right and the next order of rolls were so much better. Visually bigger and with a nice crust on top, which makes me wonder how consistent these people are. We ordered the mozzarella sticks which could've been warmer and some red pepper bruschetta, which was the best thing I ate all night. It would've been nice if both these appetizers arrived at the same time, but the sticks came out first with the bruschetta came out with the main meal. I order the fettucine alfredo since the menu said it was made in house and a side of mushrooms. The food came and it was fine. I wish it had a more flavor and was hotter. A lot of the food was warm, but not hot. For service I really enjoyed how personable the waiter beside us was, unfortunately that wasn't our waiter. It was fine service, but nothing extra. I'm curious if the food being warm vs hot was due to waiter or the kitchen staff? Over all it was fine. I would give it another try after a little while. I think perhaps the mistakes were simple getting a big rush at once and since it's a newer place maybe the staff not being prepared. read more

FINALLY a great Italian restaurant in Kerrville. Comfortable, quiet and fantastic service. We were given enough time to enjoy our appetizer before bringing our entrees. My wife had the Chicken Francese and I had Sausage Rigatoni. Both were excellent. Food was awesome. Went for lunch today. Service was terrible. Ordered Calamari to start and our dishes. Waiter was behaving very erratically. Some kind of pharmecutical issue imo. He was completely lost. Our main dishes came out but never got the calamari. Asked him about it and he mumbled something about it being frozen..smh. Brought the bill and he just scratched a line thru the calamari...lol. Told him nope. Bring me a clean bill. Finally got it and paid and left. The rolls were so very good, definitely wanted to fill up on those. Our meals were just delicious!! Portion size was generous but not excessive, that's a perfect size in my book.
