Fried mushrooms and the gulf breeze winery Cabernet
    Taffy K.

Was traveling and stopped by to get some yummy food. I ordered fried mushrooms as my appetizer and a glass of the local Cabernet. Both were very good so my hopes were high for my main. The salad was your normal house salad. Then came the steak and mashed potatoes. Both were so bad! No flavor and very tough meat. I took a few bites trying to find a good piece and then just set it aside. I then ordered the grilled jumbo shrimp add on for like 5.99. So freaking good!!! I would come back just for the wine and shrimp. The waitress also didn't even notice I only took 3 bites from my main plate. Customer service was lacking. But that's ok. Prices were good enough that I don't care about taking the loss.

Looks like a new restaurant. We only get to Kerrville once a year but decided to give them a shot. The reviews were mixed but didn't stop us. It's a big restaurant and didn't seem to be an issue getting a table. The service is a little slow and our waitress was not very personable. We had a table of 5. Their prices are high. Honestly, it was overpriced. My chicken fried chicken was ok but didn't match what they charged. My wife's steak was good but once again they are over priced for the type of restaurant. The sides were ok but nothing impressive. Overall the food wasn't bad but I wouldn't come back based on those prices. Too many other restaurants in town with far superior service and food at those prices.

Tuesday 8/20/24: Food is good, great daily drink specials, service is mediocre at best. Supposed to be kids eat free w/adult purchase but not the case for us. $2.95 up charge for fried okra on a kids meal. Will not be back after incorrectly being charged and spotty service. Beware!

Decent food if you dine in. I ordered a salad for takeout and over half of it was croutons. Takeout portions are downsized. Expect average food for a steakhouse. Very casual atmosphere and service. Not the best but not bad overall.

Do they take call a heads or have a waitlist on-line? We have a 2 yr old and sitting long just to be seated can be an issue.Toddler time is tough lol

No they don't. This is a huge dining room. It wouldn't hurt to call ahead to check on a wait time.

Therefore, when guests walk inside, they will notice how quaint the establishment is as well as the gated pool that is adjacent to the restaurant. Without further ado, here we go... Tuna Tostadas This starter was a mix of ahi sushi-grade tuna with onions, spices, fresh avocado, and wasabi aioli for a flavor profile that is light yet punchy. Aside from the ahi being at the height of freshness on this dish, the avocado added the perfect amount of creaminess to these tostadas. French Onion Soup Yikes, while I enjoy a good French onion soup, my soup was salty, and the cheese was "off." This is unfortunate as this is such a simple soup to make. I sent this menu item back. Perhaps for ya'll who go to the restaurant after me and give it a try, you can DM me and let me know what ya'll think. Sound like a plan? Seafood Pasta This Creole Shrimp Pasta is accompanied by a creamy sauce and is further layered with aromatic onions, garlic, salt, pepper, basil, and a splash of lime juice. The sauce is spicy, creamy, and garlicky, with a pop of freshness. It's a hypnotic blend that will have you savoring each rewardingly complex bite. The pop of cherry tomatoes in the dish gives it a subtle hit of acid to balance out the heavy cream from the sauce. This entree is made with simple fresh ingredients and is ideal for those who enjoy a seafood (shrimp and clams) dish that pays homage to our French next-door neighbors. For those who did not pass their U.S. history class, when I noted next-door neighbors, I mean Louisiana! Salmon This manner in which this silky salmon was prepared with a crunchy coating of fragrant seeds rendered the skin on this fish shatteringly crisp. The bed of sun-dried tomato orzo was creamy but a bit bland. While the tomato added a pop of color to the orzo, the tang was missing. However, the star of this dish did shine. Overall, the service provided by our waiter, Tyler, coupled with the lake views and quaint atmosphere, made this an enjoyable experience and one I would repeat. #supportlocal

Service was great and the food arrived quickly and was very tasty. The ambiance is quite nice if you enjoy quiet dinners. The space is quaint and cute as they have converted it into a functional restaurant space. If you are in town and want a good sit down meal, check this place out. We started off with sourdough bread and olive oil. My wife ordered the Creamy Penne Chicken and she loved the flavors. Very cheesy and the chicken was seasoned well. Pasta cooked to perfection in our opinion. I had the salmon and shrimp dish with veggies and rice. The salmon was delicious and not overcooked and dry, but very flaky. I wish there were more shrimp with the dish because they were also tasty and well seasoned and cooked. My favorite dessert was the chocolate turtle brownie cake, but I also tried the pina colada cake which I was told has won some awards. I'm not a big pina colada fan but managed to eat half the cake.

We were not disappointed at all. Freshly made pasta was so good. We shared an order of linguine alfredo with chicken and we had more than we could handle. The serving size is so generous. Then we looked at their desserts and everything was baked fresh from their bakery next door. We chose the chocolate cake with a cream filling (I forget the name) and had to get it 'to go' because we were already so full. We had it for our dessert that evening and it was very good. Special mention to our server Zach. Great job helping us decide on what to order. Also great conversation about travel experiences to the Philippines where we were originally from. What are the chances of us meeting in this part of Texas? We highly recommend this business and will definitely come back next time we are in the area. Thank you, Yelp and reviews that led us here.

The building itself was built in 1890 initially as a mercantile store, then cycled through a number of other businesses over the years until settling on Francisco's. There isn't a river view, but it could be good people watching on a busy tourist day. The interior is a single space with high ceilings and tons of art on the walls. It's small but feels intimate not tight. I wouldn't call the place fine dining or upscale, but it's a step above casual. We were there for lunch and I felt fine in shorts and flip flops, but wonder if dinner is a different story. The lunch menu was mostly simple cafe sandwiches, salads, soups, and a couple different nachos/chips and salsa/chips and queso appetizer options.
