A must stop if you are in Genoa for any reason. We had an absolutely incredible dinner after receiving a recommendation from our hotel to check this place out. With few reviews online, I was hesitant to try the restaurant but with few other authentic choices around, we gave it a shot. And I'm glad we did!
You enter through the street level Eataly doors and take the elevator to the third floor. You can walk through Eataly or immediately take a right to head straight for Il Marin.
The food was diverse and creative. The focus is Liguarian inspired cuisine (the region) and seafood. For those that do not like seafood, there are multiple menu items that stay away from seafood entirely. There is an extensive wine list and the staff will talk you through it if needed. Everyone at the table had a different meal (pasta or main course) and we finished off with dessert and espresso.
The staff was attentive, knowledgeable and helpful throughout the dinner. What would have easily been a $300+ dinner in the states didn't even break 150 Euros. The prices in the restaurant are slightly higher than the food area just outside in Eataly (and different food is served) but the quality, service and creativity are well worth stepping inside Il Marin. Highly recommend making this one of your stops in Genoa! read more
