If you love Italian, book a table at il Duomo or walk in like my family did on a Wednesday evening around 7:30 p.m. We sat right away and soon were dining on pasta. Here's our experience: 1) Food: The menu is large and includes all the usual Italian suspects. My wife ordered the lasagna and said it was the very best one she's ever had! My five-year-old daughter loved the spaghetti and my spaghetti carbonara was good too. (It wasn't as creamy as places in the USA, but it still was good.) Before our food came out, a load of bread was served with dipping oil. 2) Drinks: Our sangrias were tasty and well mixed! 3) Service: Everyone was attentive and genuinely kind. Beautiful interior, with excellent service. Was immediately sat, offered water and handed bread. I was craving some good pasta and ordered a simple zucchini dish. I ate half and took the other half home as portions are pretty good. The menu has lots of options and there's a nice terrace to enjoy as well. There was a large group in the middle of the restaurant, all drinking wine and being merry. It's the only Italian restaurant I've seen around and it was good, I recommend. read more

I wasn't expecting a lot from this restaurant and I was surprised by the taste and quality. I had fettuccine with truffles, they were good authentic truffles too. Very good food and service as well, price is good to be in an American market but too expensive for Mexican prices. Will definitely come back for more. The food we ate was decent, but I was sticker shocked. The bill was over $1100 for a bowl of pasta, a single pork chop, and a small tenderloin. There was one small beer, 2 diet Cokes, and a tiny water, as far as drinks. I was expecting to pay in the $800 range, based on menu prices. The bill shot up, because #1, they don't tell you price of water, etc. before you order. They charge 40 pesos for a small water, and then some more for the other drinks, such as a small can of soda. Furthermore, my wife asked if she could get some meat in her spaghetti. They obliged, but didn't tell her it would add 260 to the price. read more

The Guadalajara restaurants scene is known as being trendy and somewhat whimsical with a high turn over rate. Il Duomo (formerly known as ma COME No!) has been around for decades and has grown into a super successful restaurant group with a couple different concepts. This location, Av Americas, is still my favorite because consistency of the food, the active role they play in the community and the historic architecture that the building preserves. These guys have been slanging high end Italian for more than 20 years. They are famous for their salad bar, pizzas and pastas. I am a huge fan of the duck, the lamb, and the oso buco. They have the wine list and cellar that I am aware of in Guadalajara and always have a sommelier on the floor to help you find your way around the world of wine. There are a lot of European wines that someone from the US might not be familiar with. One of my favorite times to come to Il Duomo is on Sundays after the corrida de toros. They have been sponsors of the Plaza Nuevo Progreso longer than I have been going and are thrilled to share the culture with young enthusiasts. They have sponsored other sporting events like polo and some employee soccer matches. The building, architecture and interior design really take you back to another time. The building looks like it has been there for at least a century and maintains the historic character while incorporating some modern touches of design. If you are looking for a nice place to eat in Guadalajara, then look no further. read more

First let me say: I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT !!! And I am sorry for our first visit I have to give it 3 Stars but we had two of their "main dishes" recently and I must say both were mediocre at best, and that's being kind. We had the Rack of Lamb and the Duck dishes. As world travelers neither one can hold a candle to dishes using quality New Zealand Lamb or Duck like you would taste in the Southeast of France served at nice restaurants . My advice would be to order something else as we plan to do next time; like a Pasta dish. Now for some better points. The Resturant's ambience is first rate colonial period Mexico, wonderful ! The Tuscan wine, served by the glass, wine was excellent. You will also observe that a large majority of the patrons eating there were long term dinners there which is always a huge vote of confidence attesting to the long term quality of the establishment. Finally, the wait staff and managers took customer service to the next level no matter where you are in the world, fantastic! Again I am looking forward to returning soon as should you. read more

Great italian restaurant for a nice meal. It has been around for many years like the other review says and it was known before as Ma Come No and changed name a couple years ago but the restaurant remained the same. Great pastas and specialities, pizzas, a fantastic salad bar and good deserts. I really like the place and has great service. read more

Seriously the best steak I had all year. So not fair I don't live in Guadalajara. Seriously considering taking a trip once a month to enjoy this place! read more
