We ate lunch here while on a day trip to Siena. This restaurant is right in the Piazza del Campo so we sat outside. There were a lot of tables outside. The waiters waved us in to sit down as you walked by, but then it was very hard to get their attention after being seated. The waiters were running around trying to rearrange tables to seat as many guests as possible but I then found it difficult to get their attention after being seated so we could order or get the check, even when waving them down. One thing I did enjoy is that they had Coke on tap. We also enjoyed a cheese platter with local offerings, and this appetizer was incredible! It came with an onion jam, balsamic jam, and honey which were all delicious and paired wonderfully with the cheeses. We also shared a prosciutto and mushroom pizza, which was fine, pretty standard for a pizza. Overall this meal was a tasty reprieve while exploring Siena, but definitely touristy and the service left something to be desired.

Despite being driven here by an unseasonably heavy rain, my mother and I enjoyed solid bites at Il Bandierino. Most restaurants with a location like this just coast on it, charging higher than average prices for average foods. Il Bandierino surprised us with a composed, balanced, off-menu, complimentary appetizer that effectively cleaned my palate with a sweet and sour yin and yang. The seafood spaghetti sauce really tasted of the calamari, mussels, and shrimp that went into it, and my tomato and garlic pici (a thick local spaghetti) had al dente pasta a good flavor. There are probably better places to eat in Siena, but this one's better than it needs to be!

I really didn't expect that great of a menu or food because restaurants typically at great locations can get away with sub performance. Il bandierino did not. Started with an antipasto dish of different salumi and cheese was delicious. Other than my stuffed rabbit my wife and daughter had pizzas. (Photo below) My dish was fantastic and of course people watching is always fun. Service was great and attentive. Maybe because I grew up in Italy and it is my first language, I don't run into problems. So we had a great meal at a great location.

We stopped in here for dinner tonight. It is some sort of graduation night and lots of locals hang out here. One of us got a steak dish (tagliata ala Griglia ) that comes served sliced. It looked nice but was tough as hell. Poor cut of meat. No flavor without EVO and Parm cheese. I had a Greek salad that was the best part of the meal. Large portion with real good feta. The diavolo pizza was the worst pizza I've had in Italy. Friends got another pizza and agreed. Greasy and flavorless. I'd skip this place and find another place better than the 3* it's sitting at now.

Meh...pizza is really fine, but since it's near the big piazza it's usually crowded with customers changing over quickly, so service is lacking. Drinks are good, though, and fun place to crowd watch.

Interesting selections of Brudchette. Unfortunately my ravioli was forgotten but it was worth the wait. Yummy yum-yum

We randomly stopped here for lunch during our walking tour of Siena. We were glad we did because the pasta dishes we ordered were really delicious. We had mushroom / meat sauce pasta, seafood pasta, and bacon pasta. These were the best pasta we had in Italy so far. The prices were fair for a tourist location. The service could be better. Over all, a good lunch.

I've been here a few times and enjoyed all of my visits. This restaurant has a great atmosphere with outdoor seating and servers that actually like their job. On my first visit I tried the gnocchi. It was okay, but overloaded with garlic. After a while I couldn't eat any more because it was a bit strong for my liking. That was my only problem with any dish.

The staff cut us up a platter of their cheese in the cellar. Tiramisu for desert topped the 5 star experience. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: You need reservations that can only be made by calling them, no online reservations capabilities. You should call 5 days in advance. Worth it. Our bill came out to less than $250 + Tip for 2 bottles of wine, 6 main entrees, 2 appetizers, 3 Tiramisu, and cheese platter - NOT BAD if you ask me. Because we gave them a nice tip - they gave us a bottle of wine as a thank you gift.

We ended up here by mistake (confused it with another spot), and unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. The restaurant fills up with reservations for two seatings, and from the moment we sat down the pace felt rushed. We ordered drinks and a starter while deciding on the rest, but multiple staff members kept coming by trying to take our full order. It felt like they were pushing to move things along quickly. There were a couple positives. The chicken livers to start were quite tasty and something we didn't see often on other menus. The primi were underwhelming. The pasta didn't taste fresh like many other trattorias in Siena, and the dishes overall were just average. The lasagna in particular was mushy, and the sauces didn't stand out. The secondi were slightly better -- pork ribs, Barolo-braised beef, and a "small chicken" -- but still nothing that justified the higher prices. They do have an underground wine cellar built into a cave, which is interesting to see, but there are other places in Siena with much larger and more impressive cellar spaces. Also worth noting, they add a "10% tax" charge rather than the typical €2 coperto per person. Overall, a rushed and fairly mediocre meal at a higher price point. With so many better places to eat in Siena, this is one I'd skip.

As soon as you walk in you will feel like you belong. The food is inexpensive. Be like a true Italian and order in each catagory. TIP-get your vegetable order with your meal and not as a starter. When we got there only one other table was enjoying themselves. By the time we started eating the place was full. I absolutely loved that with the exception of one other table the restaurant had residents that eat there often since they were all known. The restaurant is charming and cozy. The staff made me never want to leave and I wanted to be part of this Italian culture. The prices are unbelievable!!! That is another reason that we ordered to much food. Most likely the least expensive meal we enjoyed while in Italy. My ONLY regret was that we did not save room for dessert. We had already paid when I saw most other tables being served tiramisu. With the food as delicious as it was I can only imagine what the tiramisu must have tasted like. I will 10000% choose to eat here again if we return to Siena. Also from what I have seen in other reviews it seems that the prices are still the same. That is to be applauded.
