Even when I only need to cut the ends a little bit, I always see whether or not it's done professionally. I have been going to Kote himself for several times, and I must say - the guy knows hair. He is a pro in every aspect of his job. You can tell right away that he's been in business for a long time and his professional experience is not a question. Yesterday I went to him to dye my hair. I loved how he was careful not to damage it (I had virgin hair, and was afraid to get all dry and lifeless look).
