This is the second IKEA I've been to and there's not much of a difference. Came here to pick up a few things that weren't in the usual one I go to in Brooklyn. They always have nice furniture that I really want, but can't afford to buy everything that goes with it especially when you already have a different series. It's really tempting so good job, IKEA! It was a Sunday, so it was crowded with lots of families and children so don't come here if you want to browse with minimal distractions. I would suggest taking a day off just to do get your shopping done or check their website beforehand and get a shopping list ready. Make sure everything you're looking to buy is in stock. It would also be good to check you have all the pieces and tools you need before leaving the store. And if you're a DIYer like myself, make sure you watch some YouTube videos and double check you have every tool you need before you get started or it'll take longer than you think. So take a few days off or more depending on how much work you need to get done. Plan ahead! read more

Usually stocked ok and offer the same as any other IKEA. Lines in cafeteria are always long but checkout on a Friday afternoon- and only 1 register open. This isn't the first time. Returns here take an insane amount of time so be prepared to wait....and wait... oh yeah wait some more. Meatballs are good but you have to wait for those too. 1 line..... really only 1 line on a Friday afternoon. And the line is long. read more

It's much better than you remember. I'm here to research furnishing a small NYC bedroom. Prices remain reasonable but the quality is vastly improved. I only did browsing and shook my head at the reality of ordering, waiting for pick up, loading your vehicle, then assembling. They have wisely co-marketed with Task Rabbit to pay someone to put it together for you. Smart. read more

Coincidence??? 4 weeks to deliver one couch. Hours on the phone. Delivery guys delivered half my couch and didn't say anything. Just said "Sign here" and left. After I unpacked over 25 boxes. I kid you not. I realized half of it was missing. A week later they were supposed to deliver the replacement parts. No show. I spend a second hour on the phone. The order was mysteriously cancelled. They said they'd send it out again. In a week. They offered a $50 gift card. It was a $1500 couch. The next week is X-mas. I'm not home for X-mas. If it doesn't arrive before Tuesday the whole process starts all over. It will be a full month since I gave them my money. read more

This place is horrible! I checked online for an item that I need it said that this location was the only one to have it at the moment with low stock. I called and they said that if the internet said that they had the item they had it. I took and 50 min trip, paid tolls and went over there just to find out that they did not have the item. What a completely waste of time and money and they did nothing to fix the issue because online still says that they have the item. read more

The location to the store can be quite a bit off the beaten trail. Although there is a Toys "R" Us in Big Lots in the same location. this store seems bigger than the other IKEA in Paramus but we didn't spend enough time here to really decide if it was. Looking down at the warehouse from the top floor is amazing then how high those stacks are though! That is located over by the restaurant. By the way if you have a chance to eat in the restaurant when the sun is going down it's an amazing view you can see the sun setting and the planes taking off at the same time. The store is very nice and it doesn't seem too crowded to explore. The one person we ass for help was very pleasant and very helpful showing us exactly what we needed. There is a pick up area on the side of the building closest to the turnpike so if you're going to pick up some furniture that is where you park. Don't forget there are always deals going on with the restaurant if you're a club member so make sure you sign up for a free membership! read more

IKEA - Furniture Stores Near Me - Elizabeth, New Jersey

As many have stated... it's IKEA. There is a lot of 'stuff', marginal quality, cheap prices, and quite the crowd. For the best possible experience (particularly at this location), a weekday is probably better than a weekend, as is generally the case in the NYC metro area. If you want to go to an overcrowded warehouse, with (seemingly stationary) mobs of people crowding the aisles, to procure low-priced, low-quality furniture- look no further! You can hold your breath and charge through, scoop up some simple apartment wares, and escape alive. However, for a more relaxing shopping experience, I recommend going somewhere else. Every time I enter this location, I think to myself: 'Is my money or my sanity more important?'. read more

I'm literally confused here. My mother got a table for our living room and it came with a scratch. Can you let me know please why my mother has called countless times ? No one answers no one picks up. No one answered her emails. All we needed is someone to pick up the table. What's the issue ? No help. read more

Don't ever use their delivery service. They've set 3 dates for me now for a small delivery. Today I received an email and asked to schedule for a fourth time. I called the number listed for the I contracted delivery service, and it's basically a recording trying to get me to sign up for a "free vacation". It's also impossible to get through to anyone on the phone in the IKEA store. I'm going to cancel this order and use an independent service to shop for & deliver this item. I've used this service in the past and it was great. read more

The IKEA in Elizabeth is the absolute worse! That lady with the colorful glasses who claim to be a supervisor should be fired. She has no clue what customer service is. The email address matches the government ID that was presented. The email receipt of the purchase with the order number was shown to her. The phone number on the order was a match. Everything to prove the order was my order was there and she refused to give me my package because there was no pickup name in there system. How ridiculous is that? She is looking at all the information and refused to release the package. If you are a supervisor then you should have common sense. If your store is giving away package without verification of purchase that is a problem with your staff. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

I don't know why I come here... I'm always disappointed. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this store compared to other ikeas (they are all the same), but for some reason I'm always excited to come bc I expect to buy so much, but then leave with one or two decor items. I think ikea has decent storage items and good prices, but this is not the place to really buy any quality furniture other than really basic ash wood pieces. Most of the furniture is not solid wood, but actually particle board with wood veneers over it (MDF). The older I get the more I realize that even though the aesthetics of their furnishings is minimal as I like, the quality is lacking. IKEA is great if you are just starting out and have a small budget or need simple decor and furniture items. read more

Love Ikea stuff, but ordering online is a nightmare. I just had to wait 5 weeks to have some items delivered, and found that one product was damaged. I tried to contact Ikea online, but they will not accept any messages for anything other than order cancellation. When I try to reach a live person via phone, I get a message saying that due to high call volume, they are not accepting any calls or messages! There is absolutely no way to contact them!! Unbelievable and completely unacceptable! I guess the only way to get their attention is to dispute the charge on my credit card. Just pathetic! read more

Everything was fine until I went to check out. The machine ran out of printer paper and it seemed like the staff didn't know what to do about it. After 20 minutes of trying to get the receipt at self checkout they send my to return services to ask for a manager. It took another 20 minutes to have a manager assist me and get my receipt and then only offered a $10 gift card for my inconvenience. The best place to design and get Closets. Very economical. Try to set up an appointment with Laura J Cervo-Prado. We ordered PAX closets for 7 closets in our home. Laura worked with us in 4 different sessions and helped design and order these cabinets. When we went back to place the final order, she was working in the kitchen area, she took the effort and helped enter the orders manually into the iSell system (there was some system wide glitch, and the order had to be entered manually), cross-checked everything and helped place the order. read more

The employees are really poorly trained, exhibit an unfriendly attitude and will not help you find anything. I was prepared with a printout of the item that I wanted and their location, but the specific aisle had none and the staff was clueless about availability and unwilling to check. Once I found a missing screw in their product and it took them 2 weeks to ship one. If you pay them for delivering an item and an outside vendor for assembly, Ikea stops being cost effective. Because of the free bus from Port Authority on weekends, this place can be a madhouse. The Paramus location is marginally less crowded, but closed on Sundays. Lots of people hangout at the cafe, but I would never try their mystery meatballs. read more

Ikea Elisabeth, Sunday October 25th I got the message my order is ready,I came the same day after half hour driving one way. In the kitchen department, lady didn't have idea why I got the message, sending me to the costumer service, so did, when I registered I was third in the line. After 40 minutes waiting they send message to inform me that first I have to go to the kitchen department with inf where the kitchen department is. I send them back that I ready was over there and I need to speak to costumer service representative. No replay, so after 15 minutes I thanks for the worst service ever. This was my second time visiting this location. Today I had such an unpleasant experience. As soon as I walked in I was going to change my baby's diaper since the restroom was right by the entrance so I was grabbing the diaper and wipes from my bag and the lady who was standing in front of an escalator yelled at me a crossed the room thinking that I was gonna change my baby's diaper at dirty displayed couch. I never even put my baby down and doesn't look anywhere near that I was gonna change her at an open space! And she gave me that look when I told her I'm going in the restroom. Not only this, when we went upstairs to the food court, this lady who was cleaning the area was extremely racist! I could clearly see that she was acting and talking different towards white people and colored people. I was so amazed at the fact that people like her still exist! read more

I've had two experiences with this IKEA, one in 2022, and another in 2018. Below are the two reviews I've left them on Google and thier Facebook page 2022 I purchased a Billy bookshelf and was told on the app that I could pick my delivery time, but when I called to find out how to do that, I'm told that's not a service you offer. While I appreciate the refund, I don't appreciate having to wait an additional week to get my items. I feel like once I got my refund it was "Oh well, we have no way to deliver it other than on this day. Our system can't make exceptions when we screw up, so you just have to deal". At least IKEA responded, though. NAL has not. Combined with my experience from 2018 below, I have no faith that I woul be able to get my items successfully in the future or get a satisfactory result if there is a screw up. 2018 Terrible customer service: I recieved a broken mirror on July 26th. I tried calling the number for a week- all I got was a message that said "All circuits are busy, please try again later", until I tried the desk and dresser recall line. I was told the item would be delivered on 8/6, only to be told on 8/6, that no it would be delivered via FedEx. The item was picked, then it wasn't, then the order was canceled due to an in-store error, and I still don't have my replacement. Customer service has been doing their best to help me, but I would really like to contact someone who is directly involved with the store to voice my concern and displeasure. This should not taken this long. I'm waiting to hear from the following people: a customer service manager, a corporate customer service person, and a facebook message. This should not have taken this long. I would go pick it up, but it's a 35 minute drive and If really rather not spend the gas money when this should have been resolved weeks ago. I would cancel it, but similar items elsewhere cost more money, so unless Ikea is willing to pay me the difference for a mirror or refund my gas money, I need it delivered. I can't even find out if a FedEx pickup had been scheduled- customer service consistently has issues getting in touch with the store. Where's my mirror, and what needs to happen to get it overnight? read more

Huge Location but CROWDED. I like coming here for nicknacks such as picture frames, baskets, paintings, etc. I'm not crazy about the furniture but their items are reasonably priced and will get you out of a jam if you're low on $$. I have noticed that the quality of their furniture has gotten better over the years. Overall this is a good place to come and shop. read more

Before shopping at IKEA there are a few things one needs to ask themself. Is IKEA for me? How does IKEA work? What does one need to know before shopping there? I will guide you...... Personally I think IKEA products are great for all. The 20 something on a budget, the parent who is smart enough to realize their small child will draw on, jump on and break their furniture. Even more established fancy folks could stop in for a few pieces here and there to mix in with the more expensive or even antique pieces they may have at home. Here is what you need to know in order to make your IKEA experience as painless as possible. I say painless because that in fact is the reality of the situation. IKEA is a store in which you pick out, locate, haul and assemble everything yourself. I am here to help you manage your expectations. 1. Do not wear flip flops. Those dam carts go in all directions including over your pinky toe, you will also be lifting heavy boxes. Just wear sneakers. 2. Do not bring kids. Yes they have a play area but if you are there to really do some damage they will get in the way and likely break something. IT IS NOT A FREGGEN DAY CARE either people is a furniture store. 3. Do not bring old people. Come on its like a mile of walking and heavy lifting. 4. Do not go on the weekends!!!! Especially returns or exchanges. 5. Be patient. You will be there for several hours. 6. Bring a pickup truck or at least an SUV. "No Sir that bed will not fit in your Camry." 7. Accept the fact that assembly will be a close second to child birth; Painful, frustrating and extremely time consuming. You will not leave IKEA at 2pm drive home assemble your new dresser then be at dinner by 6 or 7 or even 8! 8. Do not destroy your box when opening. If a piece is missing or damaged you may have to re pack and drive back to the store. 9. Check you have all parts and nothing is damaged before getting started. If you are 3/4 of the way through and you realize the head board has a huge dent you will mostly likely be beat. But hey then you can sign up for yelp and write your one 1 star review for IKEA when you can't conveniently get a new part mailed to you promptly after waiting on hold for 45 mins. 10. Do not use a power drill; the metal used in the hardware is very soft you will strip everything. 11. Duhh he employees are not very helpfull. But hello this place is a giant cluster F**K. Everyone is lost, confused and wants help lifting their heavy box. Its beyond over crowded and many people do not speak english. Im pretty sure I would want to kill myself after one day of work there too. You may be thinking "wow this looks like a big headache". Well you can go to Macy's and get a nice new bedroom set for $4,000 delivered and assembled. IKEA will cost you $900. Then in 4 years when you want new stuff you won't feel so bad. Just my 2 cents, hope this helps you decide if IKEA is for you. read more

I like IKEA. And I hate IKEA at same time. Their designs are cool and modern. Small pieces - lights, frames, prints, decorations a - are pretty good if you fan of modern and clean lines. Lots of cheap stuff you may or may need, but always get just because - candles, plates, bulbs and their famous yellow bags. Big pieces of furniture are not that reliable, I had some that lasted for years, and some that break rather soon. Plus, the assembly - ugh, it's not that difficult, but it sure time-consuming - I never have time. And if you missing the piece, or something is broken - forget about it! Returns are nightmarish. I still get few everyday-use pieces here and there - mixed with other furnishings they create the eclectic modern look I love, all without spending a fortune. Of course, you cannot leave without visiting their cafe - Swedish meatballs with cranberry sauce, and apple pie with vanilla sauce, and some Swedish chocolate for the road. It's a tradition! read more

Two possible ways to approach this IKEA: 1) As entertainment. Take the free shuttle, drool over Scandinavian cheap-chic tableaux, mingle with every human being east of the MIssissippi (and their kids!), eat meatballs, watch planes landing at Newark airport as you drink surprisingly good coffee, buy stylish/inexpensive tableware, reward self with Swedish chocolate on the way home. 2) As a way to buy furniture. This requires a completely different approach. Avoid going to the store, ever, and just rely on the iconic catalog to make your choices. If this is not possible, go on a weekday morning. Decide EXACTLY what items you want and write it all down. Contrary to common sense, DO NOT BUY those items. Eat meatballs, go home, and email the "Pick and Deliver" service with what you want. Be specific; include sizes, colors, SKU #s. The next step may take a couple of days. Laura will email you back with paperwork. Sign, scan, and return. Laura will call back for your credit card info. Her phone will die, and you will frantically try to reach her, which is almost impossible. (IKEA apparently saves money by using a Soviet-era phone system, in which all extensions connect to a great void. But they pass the savings on to you!) Eventually, she will get back to you, apologize, and schedule your delivery, which will (if stars align) arrive in a couple of days. This method will cost you an extra $40 on top of the delivery fee. But think about it: Dealing with IKEA's glacial "Delivery" line will fill you with a powerful and abiding rage, and therapy costs way more than $40. read more

I had never been to an IKEA before going to this one a couple years ago. I never understood the appeal. I remember when they opened one when I lived in San Diego, people lost their effing minds. It was like the Krispy Kreme of assemble-your-own furniture. The latest ex had a passion for IKEA - this is how I was initiated into a gang of craptacular furniture, and I can say I've been here many times now. If she was ever down, a trip to IKEA for her was like taking a little kid to the zoo - and how fitting, because every time we went to this IKEA it was a freaking zoo. Don't people have anywhere else to be? There's a big arse mall practically right across the street. And take your kids over to the mega Toys-R-Us next door already. And what is this I keep hearing over the loudspeaker about a bus bringing groups of people from NY? Are you serious? Is this a famous exhibit of some sort? As for the product, eh, some shht is a good deal, other stuff, not so much. You really gotta think about what you're getting and just how solid it is. Thank the gods much of our furniture was purchased here, because I really didn't give a fcuk when she wanted that shht in the divorce settlement. For example: we got a really nice looking entertainment center/TV stand, but after a year that thing was already bowing in the center, and it was supposed to be able to support a much heavier television than the one I had. "Yes, please, you take it, that shht is all yours... oh, and take that IKEA couch that falls apart every time you try to move it too. I'll keep my trusty 15 year old futon thank you very much..." I will admit I think some of their shht is cool, but I would research online and compare to other stores before making the trip to the madhouse that is IKEA in Elizabeth. Oh, and the other thing that sucks about IKEA is you can never go by yourself. When you exit, if you can't carry your purchase to your car, don't plan on pushing a cart to your car - ain't happenin'. They've got poles set up so the carts can't leave the loading area - so you have to leave your goods, go get your vehicle, and fight for a spot in the loading area. It's really a pain in the arse here, especially because they're always so busy. So you're gonna need someone to watch your shht while you get the car. I hate that. Okay, I'm done complaining. The restaurant is okay though. Or maybe I should say cafeteria, that's what it's more like. But I've ate there a couple times. Nothing amazing by far, but okay food at okay prices. Oh wait - not done complaining - if you plan to buy any food products I hope you have some time on your hands. We waited for-ev-er once to buy some freaking lingonberry jelly, meatballs that were sold out, and some dry ass crackers... Are you kidding? I have to wait in line for almost an hour? Can't I get this shht somewhere else? IKEA is just an obsession with some. It's scary really. But they do have this round bed that I get excited about every time I see it there. But then I always think, "Where the fcuk would I get sheets for this thing?" read more

I am leaving this 5 star review because of the excellent customer service provided to me by the floor manager named Joseph. I am extremely grateful for his help and great attitude. read more

Review of IKEA food court: This is the first time ever I've been to an IKEA where the meatballs sucked as*! Especially since I'm one of those weirdos that come to IKEA to shop secondary to eating, I was particularly crushed. Can we say overbaked, dry, leathery meatballs? The skin of the meatballs were detaching from the insides, that's how bad the situation was. Major Yuck-o. Even copious amounts of mashed potatoes, gravy, and lignonberry sauce did nothing to improve this travesty. --I'm talking I tried HARD to salvage them. --I'm talking a spoonful of gravy per meatball, followed quickly by a spoonful of potatoes. --It was like eating gravy soup with meatballs. The ribs were delicious though. (Which is strange because baking frozen, pre-made meatballs seems like an easier task than cooking up some tasty ribs right?) I'm wildly befuddled. read more

Hmm, let's do some fourth grade arithmetic: Ikea has 5 stars for providing undeniably cool and stylish furniture for an unbelievably low price. Ikea then loses 1 star for making furniture that must be home assembled (Yes, all of it.). Ikea gains some respect by charging only 3.5% sales tax (yay!) and gains 1 star back. Ikea proceeds to disappoint by being so crowded it's almost impossible to move around, let alone pick out furniture... it in turn loses 1 star. Finally, upon owning Ikea's furniture for a year or two, its furniture begins to fall apart, taking 1 additional star away from Ikea. How many stars does Ikea have? read more

The funny thing is, I hated my experience here. Wanna know how much? Like, I would rather have hot coals shoved down the front of my underwear than ever go back to this store. But only because it's crowded and there are morons there who for some reason think it's a great idea to bring their kids. Ugh. Honest to God, what is going through a person's head when they come up with the idea to bring their kids in a gigantic stroller into a crowded-ass store like IKEA on a Sunday afternoon. Ugh. Anyway, we took the free shuttle bus out from Port Authority which I think is a pretty nice offer from Academy bus company. And honestly, aside from the people, shopping for furniture there wasn't that bad. They actually a pretty decent system worked out. My problem? The delivery options. $100 to deliver our stuff? Are you kidding me? Really? Their other option is to rent an Enterprise van and drive the stuff home yourself. Sounds good enough, right? WRONG. You rent this van for $75.00. Fine. You load your items in. Fine. You drive from Elizabeth, New Jersey to Astoria. Fine. You drop the van off at your nearest Enterprise location. Fine? NOOOOOOOOOO! No, it's not fine! Because you have to drive the stupid van all the way back to New Jersey even though there is an Enterprise drop off location literally five blocks from your house!!!!!!!!!! I've never been so furious when I drove by that drop off location. I couldn't believe it. It's such a stupid policy. And the guy tells me it will cost $150 if I leave it there. It was such a pain in the ass. Let's re-cap: Get on free bus at Port Authority Ride to Jersey for furniture shopping Shop around store, dodge children Eat hot dog Use trusty credit card for purchasing of quality furniture Refuse to pay $100 for delivery service and instead rent van Drive home happy DROP OFF FURNITURE ONLY TO DRIVE AN HOUR BACK TO JERSEY TO LITERALLY THROW A SET OF KEYS AT SOME JERK AND EAT A HOT DOG AND THEN GET BACK ON A BUS BOUND FOR THE PORT AUTHORITY! The Ikea in Paramus put this one to shame. Unfortunately, the Ikea in Paramus is closed on Sundays. Thus my trip to the Ikea in Elizabeth. It's always crowded and many things are out of stock. Whenever I'm here I buy their black Komplement boxes like they're going out of style. I also enjoy their frames, kitchen rails and other organizational doo-dads. The restaurant was insanely crowded, but every time I come to Ikea I must get my Swedish meatball fix, so I waited on the line of epic proportions for 20 minutes. The last time I went here I bought a giant reproduction of a Klimt to hang over my sofa, which I very much enjoy! Bottomline, don't come here if you don't have to. It's always crowded and everyone walks slow so it's like you're crawling through the showroom to get what you need. If you can get to Paramus, go there instead. It's so much nicer and they have a lot more items in stock. read more

I came here over the weekend to get some starter furniture for my new apartment (exciting!!) and IKEA really hooked it up. First things first, to get the best experience you can from here, follow my tips: 1. Follow the arrows posted on the floor-- they are meant to direct you efficiently around the showroom. My boyfriend and I tried to be slick and go the opposite ways of the arrows to move faster, but we just looked like the idiots trying to slime by the crowds :) 2. Pick up the furniture yourself if you can-- I hear horror stories about their delivery service. Personally I've never used it but I don't think it's worth the headache, rent your own van if need be. 3. Wear sneakers-- I made the mistake of wearing flip flops and rolled my dolly over my foot many times, ouch! Also, I strongly advise you visit their website to first get a look at the furniture you need and be knowledgeable of the size of the room you're furnishing. The furniture is very basic and streamlined, so it's usually very easy to match all your pieces together. When you get there, you take an escalator up to the showroom if you're looking for furniture, or down the stairs if you need accessories and lighting. I've personally never shopped here for accessories, but from what I saw downstairs, I wouldn't be against it. They have a colorful selection of anything you'd need for every room in your house. I went up to the showroom and I was able to find the bookcase, desk, chair, nightstand, and coffee table I picked out online. Each piece on the showroom floor is tagged with an aisle and bin # which you'll need to locate your furniture if you don't have it delivered (The store provides pencils and paper for you to do this). I just used my iPhone to snap photos of the info and headed to the warehouse floor to pick up my pieces. I got down to the warehouse floor and put all of my items on a dolly to roll to checkout. The lines are pretty long but they move quickly, so I didn't mind. All of my pieces came to under $200, which worked fine for my budget. A pleasant experience and I would go back again :) read more
