I feel happy that i am finally able to sit down and write a review after a while. So here it goes folks :) I for one am a great IKEA fan , for the simple reason that you can find anything i mean almost anything one would need to redo or refurbish one's house and for a wide range of prices but mostly on the economical side which means it is sure to attract a larger customer base. The way IKEA is designed can make it a bit cumbersome for people visiting it for the second time onwards but the first visit can be a experience in understanding what's available to spruce up your home and the fact that they also have modeled versions gives you a idea on what can be done to your home and what needs to be bought for the same as well allows you to understand the budget a bit better. I for one go to IKEA whenever my kitchen needs a bit of sprucing up and i almost find what i need here every single time i have visited here and the thing that most people dont notice is since IKEA is predominantly thought to be a furniture store , it is not that well known that IKEA is also a extremely good store for containers ie one that could give the likes of the container store a good run for their money. The lanes for billing move through quickly and staff are knowledgable on their products, this together with products on offer and pricing make it a winner of sorts and hence the 4 star. I purchased a sit stand desk from IKEA 4.5 years ago. It apparently has a 10 year warranty is what I found out recently when it stopped moving up and down. Yay! 10 year warranty - awesome! I go down to the store and try to swap out the power strip which is what the online review said is the likely culprit. They said I need the original receipt...hmmm...that's a problem. Can't you look it up with my credit card? No, we don't keep that info. You can call the customer line, but it's unlikely they keep that info past a couple of years. So basically I have a sit stand desk that doesn't work. So save your receipt people, save it and scan it in when you purchase anything - FYI they need the info at the bottom of the receipt. If you made a purchase in the last year or two, you can likely have them look it up and email it to you, but you need to call the customer line, not the store. Oh, and another pro tip for the As Is section - if you see any shelves or anything with shelves in boxes, beware, it's just the frame they're selling, you have to buy the shelves separate! Crazy right that a wardrobe would be sold without the shelves (and doors!). Just make sure what you're getting is what you think you're getting as I almost purchased a shell of a wardrobe/shelf! read more

Dude, I love it. If you've never fashioned your college dorm or starter home with IKEA "stuff" you have not lived. Particular to this Draper location, their people are so friendly, whether in the showroom, clearance, or in the cafe. I really love the items they sell, especially for kitchen. Silverware, bowls, knives - this is what I make the trip for. Some of the furniture isn't the best quality but my all time favorite purchase was a Queen memory foam mattress for less than $200! Always a great idea to skim the Clearance area and try the Swedish meatballs upstairs. IKEA is the right stuff! read more

My feelings for the behemoth that is Ikea are so mixed. I love it, I hate it, it exhausts me. Please read Apryl's review of Ikea. So funny, so true. I would like to pick the brain of the psychology behind Ikea. The structure of the store makes it near impossible NOT to flow through the whole place along with the crowd. By the time I get to the end of the store I have forgotten what I came in for and am overwhelmed with ideas for my home, and just wander, lost, like a imbecile, drooling, trying to find my way out, and limp to my car in the parking lot, to rest. Heaven help you if you try to find your way to the restroom, or try to exit Ikea before "getting to the end" of the "guided flow". You have to take the "shortcuts" or be shown by a yellow shirt worker. If you buy something, be sure to remember that you have to 1) carry it to the checkout and 2) fit it SOMEhow in your car 3) and then... wait for it... you have to put it together. If you buy small things, be sure to bring your own bag to put them in. They do have a "wrapping" area and provide brown paper to wrap you purchases. my 84 yr old mother, who is quite a shopper, was so excited to go to Ikea. She almost collapsed in the store. The place really is exhausting. We had to lay down in the bedroom areas for her to recover and I got her a wheelchair. My neighbor and I went today (my 5th visit or so) and both of us were limping by the end of the "hike". I think it really is the combination of mental overwhelm and physical trekking. I see a Expedit shelf unit that might be perfect for this place in my bedroom, stare at it, sit down and start pulling out my notes and measurements, then 30 mins later i see a Lack that is pretty cool too... then i get to the main "shelving" area and my brain just shuts down with 300 types of shelving to choose from. read more

Consider this conversation between my wife and I... #1: "We could use a new potato masher" #2: "It would also be nice to get a walk in and some exercise, and it's too hot outside" #1: "We can get both if we go to IKEA!" #2: "Sweet, and the masher will only cost $2 to boot" I won't say who 1 or 2 is in that conversation, and with minor variation it has gone either way on any given day when deciding on a visit to this store (and we've been quite a number of times), I think it says all you need to know when it comes to our perspectives about IKEA. Unless you're starting out furnishing a household, are on a limited budget or don't mind much about quality, you're unlikely to be the type of person who would generally go to IKEA for major furniture purchases, however, I also don't mean that to sound snobby or judgmental because there are some good bargains and items to be found here if you put some time in to find them, or they just happen to have the exact (mostly modern) style of item you need to enhance your homes furnishings. One thing I'll guarantee on any visit is it will take time. Even to walk in and walk out without buying anything can take you an hour or more - and you pretty much have to go with the flow since despite the apparent maze of little offshoots (and there is), in reality the store is one big line from entrance to exit, and that's what makes it an experience and great exercise every time you go. I do have to admit, when it comes to smaller kitchen gadgets, dinnerware and just finding some novel decorative items IKEA does have some great bargains, and on any long walk through this place it's hard not to pick something up along the way. As with most places in Utah, unless you love hordes of kids running around and distracted driver parents of shopping carts - avoid Saturday's or holidays here. My husband and I recently moved to the Salt Lake City area from Michigan. We decided not to take along a lot of our larger furniture and I'm slightly wishing that we had. While IKEA has a great amount of items to chose from, many of them are temporarily unavailable. We ended up not being able to purchase a couch because of this. We were informed that stock is low in general compared to what they're used to so keep that in mind. We were able to find ourselves a TV stand and we almost have it built at this point! We love to come to Ikea for lunch. We love the Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and gravy. And the lingonberry sauce is so yummy to dip the meatballs into. Then we roam around and look at all of the furniture and fun rooms upstairs. Then we roam around downstairs and always end up buying random items. Dishes, cooking utensils, pillows, etc. It's a fun place to chill out for a while. But once you start your journey downstairs you are committed. I love being able to imagine refurnishing my entire house from the garage to the kitchen, to the living room, and making sure to get furniture that fits but adding pieces or taking some away. Went to IKEA (Draper, UT) today. First time ever going to one. As far as browsing its fun to see stuff laid out. As far as purchasing stuff it's EXTREMELY confusing. Asking an employee just made me angry. I found a lantern I liked and had no idea how to purchase it. It has an orange tag that says "bring the tag to the marketplace". Okay...wtf does that even mean? So I took the tag. When we asked the employee what the process was for finding and purchasing said items, she berated and scolded me at least six times for taking the tag. "You're not supposed to take these tags!" "Take a picture of the tag, then walk over here and down these stairs and don't go backwards through the displays. Take pictures of the tags with your phone." (BTW what if I don't have a smart phone?!) Okay how do I PURCHASE this item. Gripping the tag in a death trap of her fingers and not letting me take it she proceeds to say "you CANNOT HAVE THIS TAG BACK!" Still without telling me where to go or what to do to get the damn lantern. I took the tag back from her and told her she just lost a customer and left. Not cool ikea, not cool. read more

Love ikea! Bought and built our bed frame and dresser from ikea. Bought two matching rugs as well. While putting the dresser together, one of the pieces broke. Went to ikea and they switched it right out for us very quickly. Even on a busy Saturday. Really nice staff and everything in the store is very straight forward. And not to mention how a cheap lunch before shopping is always our favorite. read more

For inexpensive and stylish furniture it doesn't get better than IKEA! Since IKEA opened their store in Draper I've shopped there many times. I love visiting the showroom upstairs and seeing the fun and creative rooms they put together. They have all manner of great items for the home and really have all the bases covered from pots and pans to shower curtains and drapes, picture frames, beds, chairs and tables, desks and nick-nacks of every shape and size. IKEA has so much of everything it can be a little dizzying taking it all in and actually finding your way out of the store. When you get tired of shopping remember to drop by the in-store cafe for some fresh meatballs, pasta, or a sandwich. IKEA Cafe has a lot of great food to choose from and is downright cheap. read more

The IKEA business strategy seems to be to decrease staff, compared with traditional furniture stores, thus creating an opportunity for price savings. That's fine, BUT eventually, staff/customer interaction comes into play. Unfortunately, the staff at the Draper Utah location really don't give a crap about the customer experience and don't care if they give out misinformation. When brought to their attention, you can expect little more than a shrug of the shoulders. In our case, our family waited an extra hour just to pick up our furniture, an extra hour due to errant information given by the staff. Can we have our time back, please? read more

Don't purchase anything if there is the slightest possibility you will need to return it. They will refer to to the 888 number online which will tell you that they cannot take your call, and hang up. They will not allow you in the store to make the return. They will not transfer you to a manager or give you the manager's name when you go to the store. We all shop globally, but IKEA cannot seem to do a simple return and tell you it's because the company is out of Sweden. Good grief. read more

I am normally very anti-big-box store, but I like the style of IKEA furniture and have purchased a few pieces here and there. My major beef with this store is the layout. It is monstrous! This place is built like a giant Vegas casino. There is no way out and the entire point is to get you to go around in circles and get confused and spend more money all the while. I am proud of myself because today me and my boyfriend darted in and out of there on a mission, using all of the shortcuts downstairs to get from entrance to warehouse in under 10 minutes. Yes, 10 minutes. Still a long time, but better than our usual hour-long stroll. I always come here to find furniture on a budget or even just to eat their meatball platter. Their decors changes every so often. They will have different sample set ups of kitchens/bedroom/offices/etc. they do have creative idea that you can take home to remodel with. The meatball platter at their food court is my favorite and it is very delicious. It is pretty cheap also and you get a decent amount. I heard from friends that their chocolate cake is very good, but I have never tried it. The only problem I have with this place is that finding the cashier to pay you need to go through a lot of displays. It is like a "follow the lighted pathway" to the cashier kind of thing. Another thing is finding someone who works there, depending on your luck, they will be either helpful, not know anything, or you just can't find anyone. This is only a review of the restaurant. In the last 6 months this place has plummeted. I'm not sure if they cut their workers or what. This is the third time Ina row that we've come on a Tuesday, the place had MAYBE 6 families there and yet, tables are dirty, floors are a mess and we wait a good 5 minutes for the cooks to decide to finally come over and take our orders. We've come at 5, 6 and 7 pm... and all the above is the same. Seeing how Tuesdays are "kids eat free" you'd think they would be ready to go, especially in Utah. ​ I want to make this clear that it is not Ikea that I am reviewing it is their maintenance company called ISS they are in need of new maintenance mechanics and I applied for that position now they gave me a false hope and in that they told me they had their last interview within 3 days on the 4th day I called them stating I was wondering which decision they have came at but yet they told me they had more interviews I called back and said I had a position that had been offered to me elsewhere and they told me to take that position now I did a lot of work to come in for their interview it was on a Saturday morning which was my only day off and it was 45 minutes away from my home I just want people to know that they don't know what they're doing and their maintenance division is completely unprofessional along with their management that is the most problematic of them all the management cannot make up their minds and then it's too late I hope this may help people in the future read more

One of my favorite episodes of 30 Rock is the Valentine's Day episode where Liz and Criss' relationship is put to the test at an IKEA. I enjoy this episode because it is a mirrored reflection of my experience at IKEA. The experience feels like you are in a maze and finding your way through can be difficult at times. I've been to IKEA a few times. This last time the staff seemed more outgoing and looking for opportunities to help. The store seemed generally organized. They are also starting a rewards membership which is interesting. It was free so we signed up. I mean, why not get more ads for stuff I don't need? We didn't end up buying anything which to me is a successful trip to a furnishings store. But we did get a free pack of cookies for signing up for the membership. Score! read more

Maybe it's the pandemic thing or maybe it's just ikea in general but they always seem to be out of the things we need. Currently they are not taking orders online for pick up from what I understand so we had to drive down to see if it was in stock still. If you love lots of people and forgetting to grab something so you can never backtrack then this at the store for you. I don't think I've ever walked through the whole store I just go through all the shortcuts to the places I need to get, which is usually the bulk furniture that you have to put together. We needed a couple Alex drawers and some countertops for desks. The Alex drawers were out of stock but luckily the countertop was in stock but was only available in the back. To get the countertop you have to wait for them to pick it and it usually takes about 45 minutes. I had to return an even larger countertop and that took over an hour. Lots of people. Lots of cars. Requires lots of patience. Grab a cinnamon roll to deal with it all. read more

I feel like this is the place that I don't want to go to, but sometimes I have to. It's like seeing the dentist, I think. IKEA is the dentist of home and furniture stores! As I write this review and look around my place I see I have at least 4 IKEA pieces in this room alone which must mean that I'm pretty fancy (I kid), but also that I've been to IKEA multiple times. I contribute those visits to IKEA to my being in excellent shape (I'm not) because 1 visit to IKEA is the cardiovascular equivalent of running a marathon. It's science. IKEA is somewhat of a phenomenon in the shopping world, implementing that European style of big box store where you walk the entire store to find what you need. I happen to like it, but not everyone does, and it sucks if you're looking for one specific thing on a time crunch. Basically, don't try and do IKEA in a hurry. If that's the case, just shop the store online, it'll be much easier. That being said, I've only had good experiences with their customer service and the store in general. Yes, it's very crowded basically all the time. But it's great furniture for the price. The instructions are always easy to follow, and I've never really had a problem. I. Love. IKEA!! IKEA is more of an experience than a quick trip destination. It's a trap! You'll get stuck wandering around and find things that you didn't even know you needed!! You can't beat the value for money either! Yes, the furniture comes in pieces in flat packs, but really, it's not that difficult to do. The instructions are picture books -- nothing confusing about that. I have furnished much of my home with IKEA furniture and it is very sturdy (assuming it is assembled correctly). I had tried over and over again to order a Billy bookcase. It took about 3-4 weeks just to place the order and even then it was iffy. I finally placed the order on December 22 and waited until January 3rd for part of the order to be delivered and January 5th for the rest to be delivered. I stayed home all day on January 3rd and never heard from anyone. I called on the 4th to find out what happened and was told that they did NOT have the item and would 'maybe' have it to deliver on the 11th. I was also told that my delivery for the 5th was still good. When I asked why I was not informed by ANYONE that the order was not coming on the 3rd, I was told I would have received an email on the 11th to tell me. So I was to sit home all day waiting for an order that was never going to come and was never to be informed of that fact or if the item would be coming. Wow! And that was only part of the really spectacularly lousy customer service. When the delivery finally came on the 5th, first neither of the delivery men spoke English. One of them brought one large item to the front door (I had paid for delivery to be IN THE HOUSE) and I asked him to take his shoes off to come in, the deliveryman threw a fit and refused. The other delivery man yelled at me from the truck to open my garage to put the items there. I said, "ok, fine" and the first guy brought a couple more items up, but had moved the one at the front door to the garage. Next, the man from the truck yelled something to the one bringing the items up to me that they were leaving! They then took the three or four boxes already in my garage OUT OF MY GARAGE AND OFF MY PROPERTY put it all back on the truck and yelled at me from the truck as they were leaving, "we'll deliver tomorrow". Of course that never happened. I called your resolution center on Friday and spoke to Dan. He gave me a reference number for refunding me the delivery fee and said he would reschedule for the next day (Saturday, the 7th). OF COURSE that never happened and I never heard from anyone, so I called the Resolution Center again today (January 9th). Now I am being told half will be delivered on the 12th and half on the 18th, but we'll see. I WILL NEVER, EVER SHOP AT ANY IKEA AGAIN!!!! YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS DEPLORABLE AND YOUR DELIVERY "PARTNERS" ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE AND AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, THIEVES! And I will be very sure that every person I know is as aware of the horror I have been through and at the very least thinks twice before shopping at any Ikea. If there was any way to give minus stars I most certainly would! read more

I think of going to IKEA as more of an experience and less of a place to run to buy an item quickly. You could make a whole day out of coming here, from shopping for all kinds of Swedish foods, to trying samples, to day dreaming about your dream room, to having lunch, to trying to get your steps in, there is lots to do. They even have daycare! Definitely don't come here if you are in a rush or looking for one specific thing, as it is extremely hard to find and store attendants are few and far between. Definitely DO come here if you like browsing and want to experience something new, and a little taste of Sweden. I also love their furniture selection as it is unique and inexpensive! They have especially great options for children's rooms, and apartments/living in small spaces. I've only eaten lunch here once, and to be honest, I hated it. I've also been to Sweden and hated the food there too, so it's less of IKEA's fault and more that Swedish food is bland and dry. Nonetheless, it's a fun experience to eat authentic Swedish food. They really do have a little bit of everything, and it's a fun an unique experience to come, if you haven't been before! read more

WARNING I drove 6 hrs to get to Ikea, and found that most of the things I was looking at where either miss labeled or not labeled at all. After asking many people for help I finally found all the things I wanted. Then comes the checking out process the cashier rings up my whole order and BANG pushes cash not CC, now a supervisor has to come over and we unload everything so it can be re scanned, the supervisor is loading things back on the cart for us and we get to check out. Drive 6hrs to get home to find that the legs for the 2 chairs we bought are not in our stuff... I have spent the last two days trying to call customer care to see what can be done about the legs the supervisor did not put back on my cart and no matter what I select in the phone tree they all say the same thing "We are experiencing a higher call volume than normal and we will not be able to take your call" then it disconnects. If you are not a local be very careful on your order is handled, because there is apparently no one in this company that can help you.... 300.00 down the drain.... I truly hope someone reads this that can help me because I use to love Ikea but this is a very stressful situation and I am not sure i will ever go back. read more

This was my first every visit to an IKEA store so we took our time and went through it all. My review though is mainly for the cafeteria portion. There were 3 adults and 4 children ages 8 through 4. I watched the kids while the other 2 adults went and ordered all of the food. There is not much for kids to eat so they all opted for the chicken. Unfortunately, it was not very moist and so they had a hard time eating it. The meatballs, which I opted for, were very good. Last night I had to return a few items that I bought in excess and received a store gift card. While shopping just ten minutes later I realized the gift card was gone and I must have dropped it. I immediately retraced my steps then headed back to the desk that issued the card to begin with, to see if they could help. Keep in mind the gift card was for $135 dollars. The return desk was ZERO help and told me there was nothing they could do. I talked to the next manager up and he offered ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE! He seemed to almost take joy in my plight and said it was too bad there was nothing he could do. Seriously! I have shopped there regularly for my business since the store opened and you can't even talk to me like you care in the least! So I scoured the floor and luckily found it! I was so stressed out and upset at how the guy talked to me, all I can say is I'm glad to finally see what kind of store I have been supporting. You guys clearly don't care about your customer! Would it have killed the manager to talk in a nice tone and maybe sent an employee with me to try and find it. The store was about to close and I was the one that had to suggest they take my information in case it was found so I could get it back. Idiots! Worthless idiots! This is the most disappointing IKEA I've ever been to. Do they ever restock anything here? I drove 4 1/2 hours to come here since this is the closest one, and shipping costs hundreds of dollars to Idaho. It was a HUGE waste of my time. Believe it or not, at 57 years old, I had never been in an IKEA store until the day I wandered in. My wife and I had seen some things that they carried online, and they look like they were worth looking at in person. So I made the drive from Sugar House down to this store and checked it out. Well, there's an hour of my time I'll never get back. I'm not sure what I expected. Obviously by their prices, it's not the most well constructed furniture on the planet. But that becomes an understatement once you actually see their products. Oh my god! What crap. What unmitigated crap. Now, besides that, I would have just turned on my heels and walked out, but the way this tour is designed, it keeps you captive, like some sort of torturous maze of cheap furniture and household decorations. I'm sure that somebody when they designed this monster, thought it might maybe be quite amusing. But I will tell you that walking around in circles is not the way I want to spend my afternoon. Now, about the level of customer service. Now I understand why some of the other Yelp reviewers are so negative. I'm not sure if I saw a single person that worked at IKEA on the floor to ask any questions. Not that any questions came to mind, mind you. I could see that there was nothing but crap for sale within the first 30 seconds. But it is true. For the poor people that do buy things there, only one or two checkout lanes of the 17 that are there are ever open.
