IKEA is normally quite reliable, and I'm very upset about having to write this review. I placed a large order for delivery. Most of it came by truck and was delivered promptly, and I'm thankful for that. A small part of their order was supposed to come via "parcel service." If I had known that service was FedEx, I would have cancelled that part of the order. The smaller order was to have been delivered Monday. It's now Friday. EVERY DAY since Monday, FedEx has posted a "customer unavailable" notice at THREE IN THE MORNING, before their trucks ever leave the facility. This morning I got a notice that the order was ready for me to PICK UP, but no address for pickup was given!!! FedEx is lying and they did not ever intend to deliver my package. IKEA has been no help; when I called, I was told there was nothing they could do because this is considered a "failed delivery." If I could drive all the way out to the FedEx center to pick up my order (not that I even know if it's there because THEY HAVEN'T GIVEN ME AN ADDRESS), I would have just hauled it the extra few miles to Canton to shop in person. Now I have no idea if I'm even going to get this CRITICAL part of my order or if I can even get a refund for that portion, because I'm just getting the runaround from both IKEA and FedEx. Shameful. I really don't like shopping at IKEA stores. The layout of the stores requires you to, basically, walk through the entire store just to shop for a few individual items. There are 3 "shortcuts" through this maze(upstairs area anyway). There are no cart areas upstairs unless you grab one from downstairs and then take the cart up the elevator. We left our cart at the cart area at the base of the stairs to the 2nd floor, carrying our few small items up the stairs expecting there would be carts upstairs. We found that to not be the case. We asked a n IKEA floor associate where the carts were. We were told that there are no cart area on the second floor, and that there were large blue IKEA bags throughout the upper level. What the associate didn't say was that they were for sale/purchase. Just another added on purchase that I'm not willing to be forced into. Many of the smaller packaged items do not have prices on the shelves or anywhere on the displayed area. It's frustrating when you find similar items and you are not able to decide between the items when it comes to the price factor. I despise everything about this store except for the fact you can buy relatively Inexpensively made items for a low price. The absolute worst thing about going to IKEA is the fact that you are going to be walking the labyrinth to get to what you need. There are no neat aisles and everything is like a big maze with no ability to cut through to a different area. The checkout line is equally aggravating because for some unexplained reason a lot of people shop this store. I swear it's like a right of passage of people who are first going to college or moving out on their own to buy cheap crap from IKEA. If you have not been to IKEA and you plan to go, be prepared for a long wait in line. At first it doesn't look too bad because the line only might have six or seven people in it. But that's the start then you get weave through like you're going to check in at the airport. And once you get out of that line you're them told to go stand in another line at cash register. We found everything we needed for the baby's room and living room, and had an awesome lunch in the cafeteria too! Everyone was very helpful, especially one woman in particular but I forgot her name, Tina maybe? She helped us pick out and find everything that was used in the display because I wanted all of it for our baby girls room! My first time understanding how Ikea works, you take a picture of the tag id number of the items you want, some items have multiple pieces/tags/colors etc so you must pay attention! Some items you can get in specific departments (ie: lighting I got the lamp shades and bases), and other items you have to go to the ends of the earth (aka the end of the mile long walk to the back of the warehouse) to pick your items from the shelves once you match up the numbers. It took me a minute to figure it out but then I got the hang of it. Then I had to load these huge heavy boxes flat cart all by myself and they're SUPER HEAVY some of them so BRING HELP!! Then when you have everything, you line up like a grocery store and check out. You can pull up your vehicle to load at the loading dock, or choose to pay to have it loaded for you. I should've done that! Once you get it home, you have to unload it and put it all together yourself, so if you can't do all of this or have someone who can, I suggest paying extra to have it put together or delivered! read more

I asked to have the sofa bed to be assembled at the time I purchased it and the sale person told me to ask the delivery people when it's delivered and when the delivery people brought the sofa they said they just drop off and that I needed to call the store to get someone to assembled. At that time I asked could they they take the old sofa the customer service said he would schedule for a pick-up but never scheduled it. So I spoke to another sale person so she indicated that she schedule for me the 18th. Then one pick-up person came and he said what he was schedule to pick up shouldn't weigh no more than one pound and that I need to call the store and when I called the store she put me hold for approximately 20 minutes then finally came back and she was waiting for a response from the delivery person. So finally after another 15 minutes or so she can't get a response. This is the worst run around I have ever experienced from a well known store. Most well known store of this kind stand behind their name. But Ikea service is fake news. read more

I want to live in Ikea. Is that possible? I've been a fan of theirs for years, and love shopping here. They have such a cool selection of items that I could literally buy the whole store and take it home with me, if I could. I love coming here despite it's a hike from where I live. I love the selection of items that they have, both big and small. It's also really inspiring to walk through their second floor showroom to see the stuff actually set up and you can sit on the furniture. They also have a great food court to grab a snack, rest your feet after a ton of walking or just hang out at if you want. Food prices are great, and the selection is pretty decent. I've bought a variety of items from Ikea over the years, and I still use it on a daily basis. But, there are a few down sides to Ikea. For starters, I don't trust thier couches. I feel like I can do better on their couches elsewhere, so I won't buy couches from here. Also, I don't care for most of their lamps. I don't trust them, and am surprised that they haven't caught fire in the store. How is this, you ask? Some of the paper materials in the lamp shades seem awfully thin, and it just seems like a house fire waiting to happen. Besides those two items, I do continue to shop here and love that I can buy certain items here without breaking the bank. Things like kitchen and coffee tables, bookcases and other items as well. Also, if you want to avoid the parking nightmare here, come right when they open. The later in the day you go, the worse it is. It's not the people that make this place a hellish nightmare for me it's the layout and the forced herding that do. I bought a cabinet drawer face that was 5" by 36". It was $139 plus tax and almost 40 minutes of time navigating the gauntlet. Thank god the Marine Corps taught me how to read a map. I love their beautiful show rooms. Best selection of throw pillows/covers and duvet covers. Christmas products have that old-world European charm. Their as-is section is always fun. I used to love shopping at IKEA, but in the last few years I'm just not feeling at all inspired when I come here. This particular one seems like they have shrunk the display areas or something because we made it through the store super quickly. In the past I would just run in and out for something, but I actually wanted to look around today except there wasn't much to see. We ended up eating in the cafe, which was ok, the menu changed but they kept their standard meatballs. They had a lot of food specials If you have their family card, like 1/2 kids meals and free coffee. The candy was on sale and they had new slushy flavors at the counter serve station. We didn't end buying anything except food, but I do have pictures of ideas to work in my existing color schemes at home to hopefully modernize it a bit. read more

I've been here a couple of times for kitchen items and diy furnitures. The process is to get a shopping cart, take a piece of the order slip and pencil to write down the details of the item you are interested of buying. It's either you start shopping on the ground floor or 2nd floor. Everybody checks out to the ground floor from where you could see a line of customers paying for store merchandise. The other long line is for buying their sundae cone, drinks or end up taking home a box of their sweet cinnamon buns. They have a restaurant on the top floor. Highly recommend the chicken tenders and fries. Although they are known for the Swedish meatballs and salmon. Free coffee for members showing their members card. Back to the items...if it's not available at the display area, everything will be found at their warehouse. That's why you have to list down the numbers of the item so you could find it at the warehouse. They organize the shelves by numbers. Don't worry not finding it, because there will be ikea personnel's to help you locate the items. It may take awhile. After collecting all your stuff from the warehouse, proceed to the cashier and pay. You either be tempted to buy the sundaes, or go straight home. We like ikea for the options to buy furnitures and arrange it at home. The downside is that when your items are bigger than your car, that's the time you pay extra money to have ikea deliver it to your house for a fee. Happy shopping! read more

Love coming here to get reasonably priced furniture, eating from their food court, and getting some exercise in while gawking at their showrooms. While they're open for indoor dining, I appreciate the ability to get the food to go if you would prefer not to eat indoors. Before making the trek out here, I like to stalk items of interest on their app to make sure they're in stock ahead of time. Lately, many things haven't been in stock due to supply chain issues so I would recommend scoping things out ahead of time with the app to prepare for your trip. read more

This place is a staple since our college days and some budget home decors even after college. We have been here early this year and since it was in a Saturday, we were in the parking lot to queue. It annoyed me so much because they were stuffing people in like sardines cans and it was overcrowded with mask violations. However, since we've moved to this new area, we were in need of some items. We went on a Monday evening and surprisingly, it was a great day. It wasn't crowded at all. Though, it was frustrating that most of their items are out of stock after I've made sure that it's available at this location. It'd be helpful if they could isolate their inventory every 24 hours. How are you doing? HORRIBLE. I have never had such poor store experiances. I literally called and talk to 3 customer service employees. The first was HORRIBLY unhelpful and just didn't care. He kept saying the same thing over and over and offered literally no help yesterday Then I called back today and this survey option was sent to me. The first person she was honest and helpful. She transferred me to "sales" for further assistance. The guy in sales lied to me. He assured me that if I went to the store today and the last item on the floor had sold out before we got there that there was 7 more in stock and could be pulled for me. This went AGAINST what the previous customer service people told me so I asked him over and over if he was sure. He said yes. So today we drove over 80 minutes for no reason... And the last item was in fact sold while we were driving to the canton MI location. I asked for help like the guy on the phone told me to do and 2 workers in customer service told me it wasn't possible and I would have to wait 4 HOURS at the store until they closed if I wanted them to pull the item for me. I was literally crying in the store. I was so upset to have done so much extra work as a customer and then have the people I talked to on the phone lie to me and make me do so much extra work and waste gas. I went up to customer service in store one more time and asked if for all my trouble if they could let me buy it and then ship it to me (since your janky website wouldn't allow for this on an item in stock under 10...and everyday they ONLY stock 7) she let me do so but shipping would have to be $50 (this was very unfair as I already wasted time and gas to go up there today and yesterday we attempted but the last one was again sold before my husband could reach the store) So now we prepaid for the item... And we will have to waste more time, energy, and gas and then try to fit it in our other car after a long days work. Also since we were at the store today and the item wasn't there we thought we would buy a few other things, but sadly a unmasked employee walked by us and coughed. We were very uncomfortable after that and left. The other item I wanted to look for was also under 10 so couldn't be preordered online. There is so much work that needs to happen to make Ikea better. This place is huge so wear comfortable footwear. It had been years since I'd been here until a few weeks ago. They have good inexpensive items. I chose a few storage bins and a bottle of the lingonberry juice. I returned a few days later to purchase two more of the bins I had bought previously. Needless to say, I got lost. The areas looked very similar, and I had no idea where this one bin was located. Even a sales associate sent me to the wrong place. After searching for about 20 minutes, I found it. Ikea is a once in a while place to go to, but when I lived down the road from here I was hardly ever here. I moved into my new condo and needed a few things to help spruce the place up until the rest of my furniture arrives. Ikea is great for space saving solutions an low price-points, especially when you're first starting out on your own and don't have a ton of money to spend in big box store places. There are some pricey items, but for the most part, I am a big fan. The layout of the store is nice and there are signs guiding you which way to go in case you're not sure what's where. Upstairs is the showroom floor, then downstairs is the market place where you can find everything from dishes/cookware to rugs and house plants. Most items have locator numbers on them so you can grab them from the warehouse before heading to check out. Be sure to checkout the restaurant for some Swedish meatballs, or grab some at the food counter to take home! I love the lingonberry jam for crepes, and they also sell those premade and ready to buy as well in their freezer section. Ikea is known for their minimal designs and small space solutions. I had an issue getting the box spring up my stairs because it was too narrow, and Ikea came to the rescue. I saw their box springs came boxed up and it went right up my staircase when I got home. Crisis solved! I got it out of the box and set up with no problem. I'll be able to roll it back up when I move to get it back down. Some people have a love/hate relationship with Ikea and call it cheap furniture, but furnishing a new place is expensive and Ikea helps me have options I can afford, stay stylish and I know it won't fall apart right away. Something about the idea of an IKEA trip always puts me in a good mood. I love the bright blue and gold colors of the exterior, the clean pine-y smell inside, the impeccably organized spaces, and the ideas that I get for organizing my own space when I go there. I've also always loved the tiny apartment setups (400 square feet or less). If I could find a place like that in real life that was that nicely decorated, I would move myself right in! My most recent trip occurred on a snowy weekday. I arrived early and headed straight to the cafe, where I got a complimentary cup of coffee and watched the snowflakes fall. Afterwards, I meandered through the store and picked up some things that I needed, plus a few more along the way. The only downside to any IKEA is how busy it can be. I try and avoid this place on weekends, and even weekdays after work can be a challenge. Once I needed some replacement hardware for a piece of furniture, and after waiting over a half hour on a Wednesday evening, I had to dig through some bins to try and find the appropriate pieces for my furniture, and even then some had to be mailed to me. I'm a little disappointed with IKEA right now, the sheets I bought for my bedding had a tear in it (Exchanged it) and when I ordered parts to complete my bed set, I wasn't told about getting a binding piece for the frame. Mind you I got a complete order form from the lady on what was needed, at least I thought she knew, I don't work there, how would I know. So I had to make a trip out back to Canton to pick up a $10 piece that I should of gotten days before. Normally that part is included with the rest of the frame, but not no more. Just to add, we paid $59 for delivery and the guy pulls up by himself (where's the team?) and starts dragging some of the boxes on the ground, tracks it into the house, the bus stops there! Delivery includes bringing the item ordered to the location of set up, yeah that was not going to happen. I asked him to take his shoes off if he plans on walking on my carpet, guess I was the crazy one. So I had him leave it in the foyer, had friends take it back. He's an independent contractor and that means more money in his pocket, so I was told by this independent delivery man. So I feel a little let down by this whole experience, I had high hopes for IKEA but guess they are treating business like everyone else. Will visit when I'm over this! read more

We came here for a very specific type of fabric and although the web site had the fabric as "in stock," when we arrived - it wasn't there! The web site still marked it as in stock, so it was a glitch / bug that caused the unfortunate circumstance. Luckily, the manager we talked to had really great customer service skills and was able to make it right and made us happy despite the long journey to iKea. Tons of vegan options now; I ate the veggie balls, veggie hot dog, and stocked up on some vegan gummies. Everything was super affordable and tasted great. A furniture company I can 100% support. Like a number of the other reviewers here, I have done business with Ikea over the years and seen a steady decline in service quality. I was hesitant to post this because I thought my most recent negative experience might be due to issues caused by C19. But after checking the dates on previous reviews, I realized people had similar problems before that. Now, Ikea can conveniently blame C19 for issues they had all along. Sadly, a lot of companies are using the pandemic as an excuse for what they were doing all along. In short, Ikea has made it almost impossible to do business with them. In my case, their website shows available stock at my local store for items I want to buy. But each time I try to do to select pick-up, I get this message: "Click & Collect is temporarily unavailable at this store due to increased demand. Please check back here as new windows may open up throughout the day." Out of curiosity, I tried to place my order shortly after midnight and got the same message. And tried off and on during the day for a number of days. Also, while driving by their store on my way to pick up something else, I decided to go through their parking lot to see how busy they were. Zip. Not a single vehicle in the drive through lines and this was during their 'open for pick-up' hours. And, like others, I tried to call to get help -- they no longer accept emails except to start a return -- and got a recorded message saying they were too busy to take calls and to call back later. Tried even during late hours and got the same message every time. But again, people report that happened well before C19. Apparently, they are doing so well that they do not need additional sales. That, or they're so disorganized that they cannot figure out how to do business and may end up a casualty of C19. This is a double shame because when they opened in this area, a couple of fine stores that specialized in Scandinavian furniture saw the writing on the wall and closed. Yes, the House of Denmark is on my mind and I still miss their superior products and service. read more

Memorize your map, don't stop anywhere or you'll be trampled. Shoppers come in packs, don't follow courtesy rules; niceness is perceived as weakness. Don't make the mistake I made once in trying to purchase an item too big for the family truckster. I had to call my brother-in-law to bring a truck and negotiate with the staff at Ikea to get them to put the PAID FOR item in furniture pickup. And we better get there before closing!!! The best part of Ikea is the gourmet grocery, BUT it's only after you go thru checkout. It's rarely staffed so you can't get rung up. So shop it first, with your cart, and then do the rest of your shopping. You will thank me later!!! Don't even touch those stupid yellow bags. They confiscate them before you leave. Just bought a new apartment or new home or you are looking for remodeling, this is by far the only option for store that I can think of as of now. One of the best stores in Michigan for all your needs. The store is well laid out. Give yourself at least half a day if you don't know what you want, innumerable choices so I would suggest do some research ahead of time using online tool depending on your budget and then head to store to check how it looks in person. You will have to walk a lot especially when you know what you want but don't know where it is. There's hardly any shortcuts. The staff is very friendly and will help you in all your needs. Please keep a watch on your belongings, don't leave your belongings on any furniture while trying it out. My iPhone was stolen in 5 seconds that I didn't pay attention. Took a picture and kept it on nearby table in living room section to change pillow position for another picture and bam. Phone was gone. There's no service for T mobile service so had to rely on thief to take phone near the exit and not turn it phone off; so that I could track using friends phone. I got lucky and found my phone as the alarm was set off. The staff was not very friendly in that situation. read more

If I could give a lower rating than Zero, I would, because IKEA stole my money on an online order and never delivered the merchandise on the scheduled date/time. IKEA never contacted me after they failed to deliver the merchandise. When I called their customer service, I was told to contact delivery service. I told IKEA that I bought the furniture from them, not the delivery service, and it is IKEA who is responsible for making sure I get my furniture. The IKEA customer service agent told me that they couldn't do anything and that I would need to speak with "post-sales". The agent transferred me to a group that didn't accept calls or voicemails and the IVR disconnected the call. I attempted this 2 more times with the same result. Unfriendly, poorly trained agents that can not resolve an issue is what IKEA offers. I spent half a day trying to find my where my furniture was, but IKEA took no responsibility for it. It has been a month since they gladly took my money, and I still have no furniture. DONT BUY FROM THIS MERCHANT!!! They will STEAL your money and do not help if you have a problem!!! read more
