I was recommended to I&J Landscaping by a dear friend. I wasn't sure they would be willing to come all the way to Spring Valley. He took my call and was at our house within 90 minutes. He looked at everything we needed, made great suggestions and was very fair with pricing. We didn't hesitate to have Wayne and his crew do our clean up and tree removal work. Hello Everyone, I just had some yard work done that i'm quite happy with. Wayne from IJ Tree Care did a great job on my front and backyard. Not only were they well priced but they also cared. Not everything went exactly how I wanted at all times but Wayne and Ismael took any complaint and criticism I had and really put in the effort to make me happy. They came recommended to me and I'd like to share the wealth. They turned my backyard from dirt and dead weeds to a nice useful space. They trimmed up my tree, put in sprinkler and drip irrigation, put in some plants, and installed grass, rock, and decomposed granite. Very happy with these guys and already discussing additional landscaping/irrigation projects. The owners are very hands on and ensure the crew deliver exactly what was discussed, right from to the precise arrival time to the spotless clean up. Wayne (one of the owners) answered my first call and was on my property within 90 minutes, hearing what I needed and discussing options. He came back later that evening to discuss it further with my wife and answer all her questions too. His immense knowledge and practical application of it was apparent and he was keen to do the best job he could, but very mindful of keeping the costs down. His crew arrived promptly the next day, everyone of them being polite and professional. I was impressed by Wayne's desire to work with us as additional challenges were discovered, and the creativity in finding smart solutions. The cost was very reasonable, considering the size of the crew, the amount of work and the time spent. They even threw in a few minor things without additional charge. Wayne (and his son Steve) are definite 'old school' and want to ensure they leave the client happy. We met Wayne in La Jolla when his crew was working down the street. He stopped to introduce himself and IJ Tree Care and to give us a card. We were still a few weeks away from needing a tree trimming, tree removal, and clean up at our house in Clairemont Mesa but he came that day to take a look and give us an estimate. As we were in no hurry, I got a few other bids over the next couple of weeks, none of which beat his quote (but I suspected that from prior experiences). When we were ready to get the job done it was actually smaller than the original work we talked about with Wayne and I was wrongly worried it would not be worth their time. I called him about 9:00 am, he came by around 12:00 to give us a new price and by 2:00 pm his crew was on site. They were done and cleaned up by 4:30. The work they did was flawless and complete. They even did a few things that were not part of the job as they said it would just take them a few minutes and they were happy to do it. THEY CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES!!! They didn't just blow the trimmings into a corner or next door. They left my front and back yard as well as the street in front of the house cleaner than before they arrived. We were so pleased with Wayne and Ismael (?) whose crew did an outstanding job with our trees. We had previously used Wayne and wanted to lace our huge pepper tree; for the price quoted, the crew not only trimmed and laced our pepper, but also trimmed our plumosa, our liquid ambers, our bougainvillea, and several of our taller bushes--at no additional charge. They worked hard, cleaned up and raked afterwards and left our whole yards looking wonderful! Will definitely use them again when we are ready to trim and lace the year after next! read more

Wayne gave me a comprehensive estimate for pruning my 30 ft. rubber tree, a 30 ft. black pine tree, a 15 ft. pine, 35 ft. bamboo, and various other trees! His price was very good, and he was very professional, and knowledgeable about trees and plants even pointing out garden pruning that he could add at no extra charge. His crew came the next morning with all their trucks and equipment, trimmed all the trees we had discussed, removed all the limbs and debris, and even offered to move the children's rope swing to a better branch and supply new rope - CLEAN UP was immaculate (including taking my piles of pruning and raking)!! He also had ideas about fertilizers that would green up the pines now that dead needles were removed. I am frequently disappointed by landscape companies who promise a lot and rarely deliver -- some of whom are outright frauds. This is NOT the case with IJ Tree Care. I rarely write reviews, and this family-owned company deserves a spectacular one. I hired IJ to complete a large and difficult tree removal/trimming job in Tierrasanta. They completed it in one day, doing additional work (at their election) without charging me more than their initial quote. The crew was polite and professional and cleaned up entirely. They even cut the wood into perfect fireplace-sized pieces in the event we wanted to retain some firewood (we did)! After a full day of work, Wayne came by to make sure I was entirely satisfied with the job (I was!). He came back AGAIN the next day to give me some advice on some dying fruit trees (evidence of prior landscaper's neglect and sub-par work), and fertilizer stakes. Fantastic job! They showed up on schedule, did a great job (exactly as promised with extra branches removed at my request) and cleaned up the whole yard when finished. I have used Wayne once before when he was with a different company and his crew did a nice job so I had him come by to trim the trees and bushes, lay down mulch, clean up some of the plants, remove a stump, fertilize, and treat the bushes that had an infection. After the first day the crew ran out of mulch, the stump had not been removed, and the trees and bushes had not been fertilized. Wayne called and showed at my door before I could call him back explaining what the crew had done that day since I got home after it was dark and requested payment for the job that had not been completed. I felt pressured to pay him and did so unwillingly. The crew came and finished the mulch. The stump had not been removed and the trees and bushes had not been fertilized. I attempted multiple times over the course of the week by calling and text to get him to come by and finish the job and each time he said he would come by the next day or the day after and finish the job but he never did. I also never got a receipt for the work. After spending over $2K to have work done I expect all of it to be done. I will never use his services again. I am extremely disappointed with this experience. read more
