Stopped by here to have lunch/brunch. The ambiance was clean & inviting. We were seated quickly & our friendly server took our order soon after. My son got the bacon avocado ranch burger with fries, hubby got sirloin steak tips with green beans & mashed potatoes & I got the spicy poblano omelette with a side of buttermilk pancakes. Our food was served in less than 15 minutes & it was piping hot. The burger looked amazing! I will order it next time I come here. Hubby's green beans were fresh (not canned) & his mashed potatoes tasted freshly made. His steak tips were tender. My omelette was delicious & the pancakes were light & fluffy. I moved to Richmond from Southern California over the summer and this is the first time I have been to this particular IHOP. This was possibly the best breakfast I have ever had... and I've been to a lot of very nice places for breakfast food. I was floored. I was expecting standard IHOP food from back in the day. This food was amazing! Seriously the best French toast I have ever had. Also, the scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly; hash browns were fresh and cooked just right and the bacon was fully cooked without being very crispy, almost caramelized. I cannot say enough about how good it all was. I hate to say I was shocked but it is what it is. Richmond IHOP, you knocked it out of the park. The restaurant was large and clean and the service was also outstanding. I'm a tough sell when it comes to restaurants and I don't have a single negative thing to say about my experience today. It was perfect in every way. Immediate greeting and seating, prompt appearance of our waiter, Stefan, who was charming, cheerful, knowledgeable and helpful, and he checked on us. Twice! Food was hot, fresh and very tasty. Generous portions. It was the Chicken and Waffles that brought me here and will bring me back. Pro Tip/note to self: get the Buffalo dipping sauce to more closely mimic the expensive brunch dish of the same name. The restaurant is clean, open feeling, lots of natural light. Booths galore. When visiting Richmond this was one of our favorite restaurants to stop and eat. The manager that was there in the past greeted his guests assured that everything was up to ours and his standards. On this visit however we were greeted by a waitress and a trainee. Prior to entering we met a customer that had fallen in the foyer. She told us rather than to mop the dirty slick floor, they laid rugs down so no one else might fall. We were seated, asked our drink order. We opened our silverware and it was filthy. I got up and slid to the front of the restaurant and brought more silverware back to the table. All filthy. The trainee brought our drinks I showed her the silverware. She says i will replace it, I asked where the manager was. She explained that they had a new manager. Apparently they transferred the other manager and replaced him with one that is very incompetent. The place is dirty, it smells, the food is disgusting. They no longer have my business. read more

My family went to eat but I stayed back because my child is sick. Ordered a 4 stack of coffee cake pancakes and 2 orders of bacon for my mom to just pick up on the way out. Bacon was so hard and over cooked. Then turns out I only got 2 of the 4 pancakes. Since I had someone to watch my baby I went back to ihop to ask for my 2 other pancakes because it's the least they could do. I didn't want my money back I just wanted my food. For them to make 2 pancakes took over 30 minutes! Then they still gave me the wrong ones ! At that point I was over it and I just took them and left. The morning rush was already dying down so it's not like they were soooo packed they couldn't get a simple order done correctly. Absolutely do not recommend and to make matters worse when I get home I saw the new pancakes were disassembled and the first order of pancakes were rock hard! But the left overs my mom brought were still nice and fluffy almost 2 hours later !!!!! Terrible place if they can't handle dine in and pick ups they shouldn't have it as an option . It took a hot minute for a wait person to show up even though the restaurant was about half full and they seemed well staffed. She was very friendly though. The restroom has a horrible odor and the paper towel dispenser refused to give up any product. So, air dry wet hands on the way back to the table. The milk was a little chunky so I sent it back. The remainder of my meal was very good; T-bone, eggs, hash browns, coffee. Looked under my table and that was a mistake. It appears a couple of children were hear before me. I'm not one to blast an establishment. However I won't be back here during my Richmond stay. One prominent note: they gave me 30% off for the milk debacle which I never asked for. read more

It's been a while since I've been to an IHOP, the first time to this one. Honestly it was okay, I'm not going to say it was bad, just okay. I had coffee, black and they brought me my refills in a styrofoam cop and not an insulated pot. Syrup came in small plastic cups on a saucer not the usual little pitchers they use to have. I have always loved IHOP, even though my Dad at times hated it. I always loved all the delicious breakfast foods and have even tried the sandwiches, and they are good, too. My Dad always complained when we came here. In the last several months, we have noticed a change in management, and therefore, a change in how things are handled there. Today, I was there with my Dad, and the waitresses were nicer. We got our food quicker. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles with a Diet Pepsi, and it was delicious, like always! My Dad said he used to hate coming here, but now he likes it. The restaurant is getting filled up, like it should be. The waitresses said thank you, when we left. if there was an option for lower than one star I would put it. this was a horrible experience. after working all day and running all night, my husband and I took our 3 kids to dinner. Alicia D was our server and she was awful! she forgot drinks, food and everything in-between. she didn't put our food in until after we were already there for 35 minutes. she kept ignoring our table and the kids went an hour without refills. she brought food out one item at a time and didnt get my food out until 20 minutes after everyone else at the table already got their food. and when she brought my food out she didn't even have all of it. she promised the other half of it was coming and then proceeded to go into the kitchen which we sat next to and yelled about bad tips and customers being bitches and telling people to have the night they deserve on their way out of the building. my small children had to hear her loudly call us bitches for asking to receive my food that I never ended up even getting. she put a discount of a $1.60 on the bill which was just another slap in the face after the awful rude and disrespectful experience we already had. That, and the fact that you came up with some great choices in pancakes such as your sweet cornbread pancakes and your Cream of Wheat pancakes, only to eliminate them from your menu after a short time, has lowered your rating in my book. After my recent trip to IHOP in Springdale, OH, I decided to try the one a couple of miles from home. I was there around 1:45 p.m. and it looked a bit like an old people's convention but then, I fit pretty well right now. One of the waitresses reponded immediately and seated me, as I got to the dining room. Tables were clean! The server came to the table and asked for my drink order and she had my drink back to the table quickly. I ordered a half-and-half deal for $6.95, and got the Caesar side salad and pot roast melt sandwich. There were good portions for the price, in contrast to Panera Bread, which gave me a cold half-sandwich and a few spoons of soup for $8.99. I have to nitpick here. The lettuce should have been torn apart. I understand that they don't want to use a knife because of the brown edges it will give it when the lettuce is older. (Of course, they should throw it out before that, but that rarely happens.) Cutting a salad in a bowl just doesn't work well. The bowl was a good shape, but a couple of times, I was close to having a tossed salad. I'll take chopsticks next time. The sandwich was quite good. The bread was toasty without being too dark and the pot roast beef and the gravy were good together in a sandwich. All they needed were mashed potatoes and carrots. All of the staff I could hear or who I encountered were pleasant and helpful with all the customers. They took care of the tables quickly after customers left the booths or tables. I thought back to the original International House of Pancakes restaurant, where Subway is now, next to Burger King, and they were really good at first and degraded over time. I visited the IHOP as I finished up a charity fundraising event that had me traveling by wheelchair from Marion to Richmond, Indiana. It's located in a free-standing building not far off the highway in a more commercial area of Richmond, a college town (Earlham). I will admit that my first experience of IHOP was to watch as an employee exited the restaurant and climbed into a car parked in a handicapped parking spot (without proper I.D.). While I realize they were likely on there for moments waiting on the employee, I still found it a bit tacky. Fortunately, things improved. This particular location looks like a newer spot. It's well decorated and clean. It didn't have strong personality to it, but I felt comfortable in it. The crew seems to be almost uniformly casual - I can see how some of the customer service issues mentioned in other reviews might happen. That said, I was treated well and was welcomed warmly. I was seated at a four-top. The business is pretty wheelchair friendly with multiple accessible spots (when not taken), an appropriate curb cut and fairly easy to maneuver doors. The dining area offers multiple wheelchair friendly spots. Jessica was my server and she was friendly and attentive throughout my stay. As I was in an IHOP, I opted for breakfast over lunch. I ordered the traditional french toast along with a couple of sausage links. The food came out in a timely manner. I've always considered IHOP to be fairly standard in terms of its dining quality. It's neither great nor poor. I can't say I've ever had a negative experience in IHOP, but I've also never had an experience that made me think "I have to go back." The french toast was good and satisfying without being too heavy. It came on a full plate with a small side plate for the sausage. The plate for the sausage made the sausage look rather paltry. But, once again, I had no complaints but also nothing that made me think I needed to rush back. I ordered iced tea (sweet, rather unusual for me). It was refilled once and I was offered a cup to go. As I was on a sort of "random kindness" tour, I spied a group of four who were simply fun to watch - a couple of older folks and their friends. They were just a delight. So, I bought their lunch (anonymously). That was a lot of fun and I appreciated IHOP's help in making that happen anonymously. Jessica was friendly and checked in regularly. I wasn't blown away here. It was an enjoyable meal that tasted good. The price was right around $11 and, of course, went up quite a bit when I picked up the other check. I would return if in the area, though this particular neighborhood also has several other options I'd just as easily visit. For those who love breakfast at any time of day, IHOP is a great option in the Richmond area. While they didn't have quite the "down home" feeling I've sometimes associated with the restaurant, I was treated well and served good food. On this visit, that was enough. read more

Someone from a different party waiting went to the kitchen to ask if we could at least get drinks since we had all been waiting over an hour and she was in the back sitting on her ass smoking her vape pin. I've been to this location several times (in past years, this was my first visit this year) and the food always takes a considerable amount of time to be served. This past experience (less than an hour ago) was by far the worst. I went with my family of 6, in celebration of my younger sister's birthday. We arrived around 10:40pm and waited until 11:40pm to be served. My family was getting pretty upset on the wait time so I decided to ask about the food. It was only after I notified our waitress that we've been waiting a long that they then served our food. There were customers who came after us who had already eaten and left, before we even gotten our food. The waitress didn't check in on us, nor did anyone tell us if there was a reason for the long wait time. When we finally got our food (around 11:50pm), the eggs were cold and the hash browns were lukewarm at best. It certainly makes me wonder how long the food had been sitting out. It really bugged me to see plates of food just sitting on the counter left to get cold. We ate quickly and left by 12:00am. (Yes, 10 minutes. We didn't really want to stay longer.) My parents were actually considering just leaving instead of waiting for the food, but I told them that considering we rarely go out, we might as well wait for the food to come. It honestly bothers me for a family experience to be ruined by the service. When we were finally seated we were getting dirty looks I think it's because we were brown literally looking at us like we look at toco bell tacos, man those chingaderas, anyways besides the point, irrelevant as we waited for our food we noticed something . However, this location quickly proved that their service is pretty abysmal. So, I haven't visited this location too often. One visit in particular I always tell people it was my worst dining experience ever. The food is slightly above average, so if it comes out correctly you can bet on it being a tasty meal. But my order rarely comes out correctly, and it usually takes a really long time to get your food. However, if you're a fan of super sweet pancakes this is your place. I've had Ihop twice. Once as a pick up order for a group and once as a dine in order. First of all, you'd better like meat... with a side of meat... slathered with meat. Everything comes with meat. That could be good or bad. The grease is just a bonus, I suppose. Secondly, try to find something healthier and end up disappointed. They have a selection of healthy options however, when you get down to the nitty gritty, they're NOT actually "healthy"; but I suppose you take that when you dine out for the most part. We decided to give Ihop another chance as our toddler is a fan of breakfast foods and was asking for "chocolate chips". So, we went there for the sole purpose of getting their chocolate chip pancake for her. That was a bad choice. It comes in the shape of a smiley face and has chocolate chip teeth. The pancake itself is... I don't know what. a big ol' dry sponge. So, she ate the teeth. My husband chose the turkey sandwich; it was nothing we couldn't have made just as well, or not better, at home. I wanted to go the healthy route and tried the tilapia. Those of you who enjoy a good grilled tilapia know that tilapia shouldn't smell and taste like bold fish. This was bold. I could smell it come out of the kitchen! It was very obviously over cooked, tough and rubbery. The smell was nauseating. The broccoli that accompanied it, was just not good. As a huge fan of IHOP I was totally let down by this visit. I went with my friend and her kids since this is the closest one to us from Dayton. It was insanely busy for a Thursday morning but we didn't mind waiting because the pancakes are worth it. This is where it gets bad. Our table was filthy and sticky and we had to ask someone to come clean it off again. Our waitress never came to our table to take our drink order and we flagged down a manager who gave us our drinks. I don't think our waitress was told we were there because she seemed surprised to see us sitting there so I don't blame her. When our food showed up it was cold and there was hair mixed in with our scrambled eggs. We flagged the manager over again and he was so understanding he brought us new plates and took the meals off our bill.
