When we arrived, we weren't greeted -- we just stood there until a staff member pointed and said "you can sit there," with no explanation or welcome. Our waitress was grumpy the whole time, more interested in her phone or chatting with someone (who may or may not have worked there -- no one wore uniforms, so it was hard to tell). There were only seven customers in the whole place, and five of them were at our table -- yet staff were openly complaining about being overwhelmed, how they couldn't wait to get off work, and other personal stuff right in front of customers. At one point, even the cook came out to bring food and loudly complained about having too many orders. Really? The floor was slippery, which was especially concerning since my wife is recovering from a broken kneecap and had to move slowly and carefully just to get to the restroom -- which, by the way, was under construction (not IHOP's fault, but still inconvenient). When I asked for more coffee, the server just grunted, took the carafe, refilled it, and set it back down -- without a word. Every time we said "thank you," we got blank stares or grunts in response. I think they said "you're welcome" once the entire evening. Now we know why the restaurant was empty. Poor service, unfriendly staff, and no sense of professionalism. We won't be coming back to this location. I will say, that the food was excellent and correct. Love the sirloin tips and eggs, but I may wait til my next Maryland trip because the Cape location is not very good these days. read more

Went for dinner service with my family and immediately noticed a weird vibe upon entering. Waitress seated us with barely a word, no introduction or anything. When ordering, waitress seemed incredibly impatient and bothered by everyone at the table. We left before even getting our food because we just felt unwelcome. I came in today my service was terrible. our waitress was rude and we waited 30 mins to pay. our food was mushy, cold, and overall disgusting I ate one bite and almost throw up, I couldn't even eat it. my friend had the same issue. i ordered a side of bananas and strawberries didn't even get a half of a banana and probably not even 3 strawberries and paid $5 for it. Gave it 3 stars for a few reasons. It's Black Friday, we walked in with empty tables everywhere and people waiting. The greeter was obviously lost. After about 5 minutes a waitress finally seated us. My wife and daughter went into the ladies room to change my grandson. It stunk! I went to the men's room and looked around to see if there was meat hanging; it was COLD! The food was good. My omelet was cool and so was my wife's. The kids food was warm and the coffee was decent. Waitress was attentive and took care of us. I went back into the restroom, did my business and found it was almost out of toilet paper and it was still cold! Next year we will find someplace else for breakfast. read more

Decided to stop in to IHOP to have breakfast since I was in the area and had not been in here in a while. The wait time was not bad -7-10 minutes everyone was wearing a mask so that was cool. The place wasn't very crowded and many of the booths and tables were preoccupied. I wanted a table but no one was in a hurry there so I took a booth near the exit. Terry the Server came over and said hello (nice & friendly) asked what I wanted to drink I mentioned coffee and had a few questions and he answered them and then went to get my coffee. Meanwhile I went to the restroom to check out the place the seating was spaced pretty far from others so I would say I was in favor of it since I don't like being crowded or near anyone with no mask. Overall impression was good the place was clean nice lighting and no issues. So went to the bathroom to wash my hands and noticed it was dimly lit. I'm not a fan of dim lighting in bathrooms makes me wonder what they are hiding that's just me as I prefer bright lighting in my bathrooms especially near the toilets and sinks. Upon returning to the booth shortly afterwards I placed my order usually get Coffee, water, 2 Eggs over easy, hash browns, bacon & Pancakes. It took about 5 minutes and it came pretty quickly. Everything seemed great very attractive wise except when I went to cut the hash browns they were hard to cut with a knife for some reason? It was like a plastic potato grill was placed on top and bottom of the hashbrowns I thought that was weird? So I kinda passed on them. Overall everything else was fine. Server keep my coffee cup filled with fresh coffee, water and a few extra napkins then asked if everything was alright. (key question from a server) Based on this visit I may visit more often to do a few more reviews as I always like breakfast places with great food. Negative stars available? No one was here. We were seated by someone who works there but was not on the clock at that time, because the people on the clock were no where to be found. Finally someone on the clock comes around and takes our order. Just over 30 minutes after ordering half our food arrives. One meal, of which was biscuits and gravy was supposed to come with four sausage, only came out with two. This is when the waitress decided to inform us there was in fact no gravy and asked if we wanted something else. However now was not the time. This should have been brought to our attention when the order was initially placed. The rest of the food , once it finally arrived was cold. Not warm. Not cool. Cold! We get to have it remade. It should have been an order of four crapes, two eggs and bacon. She brought eggs and bacon and when we asked about the crapes she had completely forgotten to have the kitchen remake those. Even though she had taken the initial plate back with her. When it was brought back out there were supposed to be four on the plate. Yet the plate only had two. I was in IHOP yesterday morning I believe my servers name was Lexi The store didn't seem very busy. My server took 10 minutes (we were about to leave) to come to us when she came she asked what we wanted to drink and for our order our food took over 20 minutes and it was cold. A different server brought our food out to us. The server that originally asked us for our order didn't bring our drinks yet. The other server brought us our drinks. We also had no silverware. Demia, the young hostess was friendly, professional and on point. She checked on my order to make sure it was being cooked and packed it beautifully. Don't get in any sort of hurry if you decide you want to stop for breakfast. They take their sweet arse time seating you, getting drinks, taking your order and then finally getting your food out. Once you finally do get your food, prepare for the first bite to be all but cold. I still can't wrap my head around that. What food that was warm was ok. It's gonna do its part in a few hours anyway. My favorite part of the trip was when our waitress finally got around to bringing our check, she turned around to address a different table and then turned right back around to us wanting to take our payment immediately. Group of 4 of us stopped after a cheer competition at the Show Me Center. Was a little wary after seeing the 2 star rating. The place was empty at around 8 PM. I've been to this location previously, and all the other times it wasn't too bad. Your normal IHOP service. Went today and the wait was crazy, but there was plenty of tables that needed to be bussed. I was waiting in the entrance area and they called our table but we couldn't hear them, so they skipped us. After a while we went inside and they said they skipped us because we weren't there even though we were and they just didn't take the time to call our name in the entry. They eventually sat us, and after waiting another 10 minutes to get a server we left. Plenty of servers walked right past and looked right at us and didn't stop to see if we had been helped. I really hope they can get it together. It appears to be a management issue. Our server and 1 or 2 other employees were the only ones that seemed as though they cared to be there. A lot of idle employees either gabbing, on their cell phone or entertaining their boyfriend while at work. Took a long time to bring the food...we were told they'd just taken a big order ahead of ours??? The place wasn't even half full... Then it didn't come out together... Some of our party of 4 were done eating before all of the food had been brought out. Hopefully, management will "manage" and this ihop can stay in business. I want to come back and write a follow up review that is glowing! :) Okay, so I finally was convinced to come back since my initial visit which was terrible. This morning the place was packed, but we were seated quickly... Orders were fulfilled correctly, the food was hot and tasty with pleasant and engaged staff in all areas... Greeting, wait staff and kitchen. All the food even came out at the same time! :) I'm very happy to see that this IHOP location appears to have gotten it together! The parking is still tight when it's busy, but when inside it was great. They must be doing something right. This place is always busy. Compared to the other options here in Cape Girardeau it's a hit. I still wish the coffee was better but service is great. If I had to describe IHOP in one word, it would be DISGUSTING. The first time I went there, the person serving us our food told me that he was very sick, as he was handing us our food. That was gross, but not as bad as the time they handed me my food with a dead bug very visibly on the plate. After that, I swore that I would never come back. This place is not worth your time or money. It is slow dirty and the food is less than stellar. It was greasy and the bacon was half burnt and half raw. I have know idea how they did that. This was our third visit to this location. Our order hasn't been properly filled once. I ordered bacon, two eggs over easy, toast and hash browns extremely crispy. I received scrambled eggs and soft hash browns. I told my server about the egg mistake and he brought the corrected eggs. The bacon was burned and the toast was made with the smallest bread ever and there was almost no color on it. This is par for this location. This will be our last visit.
