Obviously, with my reviews of radio stations (you should see my CD collection- alternative, greatest hits, jazz, dance, pop, compilations, reggae, world, etc.), I have a large & varied musical taste- it just depends on my mood. Sometimes it can get repetitious, the beats, but like I said in my other reviews, you can always switch the station, when you get tired of it. Anyway, hope it lasts, because stations often times evolve (play list slowly changes) or cease to exist altogether. These are the most known: David Guetta (played at the gym alot and other stations), with featured DJ's like Paul Oakenfold (legendary) and John Digweed (might sound familiar to you).

102.3 FM and 1280 AM…read more  I am a fan of the oldies. This is rock and roll music that is timeless and ages just as good as fine wine. In a way oldies is the timeless feel good music that is fine wine for the ears.   Kool FM is the oldies station of the Las Vegas valley. It broadcasts from 102.3 on the FM dial and 1280 on the AM dial. This is one of the radio stations that I listen to in the car and at at home. Just like fine wine the oldies have a way to bring me up when I am stressed out or down. Unlike fine wine, I can be under the positive influence of the fine wine for the ears when I am driving.   My listenership of Kool FM goes back years ago when the Orleans shuttle played it on the radio on the way back from the Strip on a staycation. This was in the early 2010s. Since then, Kool FM is a cool oldies station that I have listened to. They seem to focus on the oldies of the 1960s with a secondary focus on the 1970s with some thrown in from the late 1950s to the rare oldies of the late 1980s. I admit that it did make me feel old when they played the Beach Boys "Kokomo" from 1988. The programmers have a great taste in oldies that includes everything from the Beatles to Motown and includes the Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Turtles, Righteous Brothers, Neil Diamond, Sony & Cher, and several other artists. They play the best from these artists including "Eleanor," "I Heard it Through the Grapevine," "Good Vibrations," "Kentucky Rain," Sweet Caroline," and the list of songs pour on and on like fine wine. Kool 102.3 broadcasts the oldies through a strong signal with limited commercials.    Kool 102.3 is like Cool fine wine that gets better with age. When I listen to Kool 102.3 FM, it usually leaves me with a cool oldies tune playing in my head. I would much rather have a cool tune like "Joy to the World" or "Traveling Band" playing in my head than the sound of a negative thought. I am a fan of cool oldies. Ultimately this makes me a fan on Kool FM which is 102.3 on the Las Vegas FM dial and 1280 on the AM dial.

Anyway, this morning, I heard "It Takes Two", "I Feel For You" and "In My House." This are songs that aren't played on the radio anymore. I miss this music. I've been listening to this station for many, many years. It's one of the few stations that has…read morelasted, besides 98.5 but I don't listen to that station anymore. The music is alternative/mix format- Nickelback, Lifehouse, Sara Bareilles, Maroon 5 (one of my favorites), Katy Perry (another favorite of mine), Train, Pink, Rob Thomas, etc. Sometimes I will hear Carrie Underwood. Yes, at times, it seems that the same play list is used over and over, but you can always change the station for more variety (you do have that choice.) I am lucky enough to have XM as a choice at my workplace, so if I want early alternative (one of the music types I grew up with) called 'New Wave' I can listen to it, whenever I want. I really enjoy the "Mark & Mercedes in the morning" show (weekdays/ weekends play repeats, sometimes). I've been a fan for all these years. The topics of conversation are thought-provoking as well as being funny and entertaining- kinda like one of my favorite shows of all time "Sex & The City." I like the witty banter of two people that seem down to earth and I can relate to their point of views. Enter their verbage: the BOD (wink wink nudge nudge- if you're a true fan, you'd know it.) They bounce off of each other, is what I mean. I saw Mercedes pose for pictures at the last Bite, and she seemed so nice, not snotty at all- I like that. When listeners call in, it adds another dimension to the show. I've called in a few times myself. It's a funny show and I enjoy it. I am, however, growing tired of JC's never- ending commercials for laser hair removal- I mean, c'mon already! He's like the Glen Lerner of/in radio. And the delivery is a little like wooden skates, not natural at all. Blair adds the youthful perspective, as she is the youngest contributor to the show, though she sounds more tattooed than the average person/listener. There are so many events that they sponsor that I enjoy going to, like Pet-A-Palooza & Bite of Las Vegas. Both venues encourage drives to benefit the community (nonperishable canned foods to donate). The station also does a Four Corners Food Drive every year. The station is an asset to our community- our community is better with all their efforts and contributions.
