I'm 39 and this oldies station is literally the only reason I keep a radio. I like to run music all day long without interruption! I will say that I don't love the FOX update at the top of the hour.... Not because I have a problem with FOX but because I try really hard not to listen to news in general. It really brings me down when I have to hear the news updates EVERY hour... can't it only be like 4 times a day? Talk about overkill! I'm sure FOX is a huge sponsor so I'm sure the "less news" request would be fruitless... I also have a hell of a time getting this station to come in really well without static. This station sits right between two other popular stations (which seem to have stronger broadcasts) and sometimes if you bump your tuner, you'll lose the KOOL station all together! I've had to move my radio around in multiple places just to find the station again! Anyways, it's pretty much the only option for oldies in LV so I'm grateful for this station! read more

Love the oldies, but the morning DJ needs to keep his political opinions to himself. I don't listen to music to hear ignorant opinions. This guy actually said today that Amazon showing the cost of tariffs on their prices is 'stupid'. What's stupid, is this DJ. One for alienating listeners and two for lacking any common sense. Would you hire a singer who can't carry a tune? Then why did you hire a radio announcer who can't speak in sentences of more than 3 or 4 words? I love the music on your station but won't listen anymore because the "poor man" voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard and his stories about his 100 year old father and all his followers who call him on his personal cell are, quite frankly, very annoying. read more

102.3 FM and 1280 AM.  I am a fan of the oldies. This is rock and roll music that is timeless and ages just as good as fine wine. In a way oldies is the timeless feel good music that is fine wine for the ears.   Kool FM is the oldies station of the Las Vegas valley. It broadcasts from 102.3 on the FM dial and 1280 on the AM dial. This is one of the radio stations that I listen to in the car and at at home. Just like fine wine the oldies have a way to bring me up when I am stressed out or down. Unlike fine wine, I can be under the positive influence of the fine wine for the ears when I am driving.   My listenership of Kool FM goes back years ago when the Orleans shuttle played it on the radio on the way back from the Strip on a staycation. This was in the early 2010s. Since then, Kool FM is a cool oldies station that I have listened to. They seem to focus on the oldies of the 1960s with a secondary focus on the 1970s with some thrown in from the late 1950s to the rare oldies of the late 1980s. I admit that it did make me feel old when they played the Beach Boys "Kokomo" from 1988. The programmers have a great taste in oldies that includes everything from the Beatles to Motown and includes the Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Turtles, Righteous Brothers, Neil Diamond, Sony & Cher, and several other artists. They play the best from these artists including "Eleanor," "I Heard it Through the Grapevine," "Good Vibrations," "Kentucky Rain," Sweet Caroline," and the list of songs pour on and on like fine wine. Kool 102.3 broadcasts the oldies through a strong signal with limited commercials.    Kool 102.3 is like Cool fine wine that gets better with age. When I listen to Kool 102.3 FM, it usually leaves me with a cool oldies tune playing in my head. I would much rather have a cool tune like "Joy to the World" or "Traveling Band" playing in my head than the sound of a negative thought. I am a fan of cool oldies. Ultimately this makes me a fan on Kool FM which is 102.3 on the Las Vegas FM dial and 1280 on the AM dial. read more

I second Gail's review. The Poorman, Jim Trenton, was not made for radio. His voice is mechanical, no enthusiasm. What was Scott Gentry thinking when he hired him? I cannot understand, based on Scott Gentry's remarks that The Poorman was a hit in Los Angeles radio! Why don't they have a mid day host? This isn't some small market station in the middle of nowhere. It's Las Vegas! Get rid of the depressing and horrible Fox News. And you can't think of any other way to lead up to the news by playing a 30 second instrumental? Is this some small market AM station? And how about getting a better variety of oldies? The music is great and the afternoon guy is amazing! However, the morning drive time is ruined by the Grumpy Old Men who seem to be there to criticize everything, call names, make disparaging comments and ignorant statements. It's such a downer in the morning. Don't look to that show for any positive commentary. They give older people a bad name with all the grousing and complaining. read more
