Two words... Museum quality. I recently took a pheasant to be mounted and, not only did I get it back two months before I expected, but it was absolutely incredible. I just got my Redhead duck back from Igor and all I can say is WOW. I have had other ducks done by other taxidermists before, but no more. Igor is absolutely the best and museum quality is right - he actually does birds for museums. What really impressed me was his knowledge of the different ducks (and all the birds he had in his studio for that matter) and how they should potentially be posed based on each bird's behavior. Puddle ducks versus divers taking flight off the water - for example. He also wanted to know where I would keep it and at what hight so he could pose the duck for best viewing based on where it would likely be displayed. Seems simple, but the results speak for themselves. This duck was one from my lab's first year duck hunting. She was 12 months old in January when she retrieved the bird and I wanted to keep a nice specimen from her first year hunting. I took several ducks to Igor and he went over each very carefully looking for pinfeathers and other potential flaws in order to determine the best one to mount. They all looked very similar to me, but his experienced eye was able to select one very quickly based on a variety of factors. The end result is totally amazing work and attention to detail. If you have a bird to be mounted, do yourself a favor and take it to Igor. And while you are at it, look at some of the amazing specimens he is mounting from around the world. We have used Igor's taxidermy on a few occasions. We were looking for someone who specialized in mounting birds. We had a few small finches and tanagers we wanted mounted.
