I had a gift that I wanted to engrave. The gift was a Coach leather bag. No other monograming or engraving business was able to provide service for my bag. The staff were great and were able to provided good description of how it would look because the bag was a darker color. I made a last minute purchase for my anniversary, which is also very close to Thanksgiving, and wanted to get it engraved with a special message. I was really worried it wouldn't happen, since most engraving businesses in Austin told me they were closed for the weekend and most of the week due to the holiday. I found Fire Light Laser and I live in Buda, so I was hoping they would be able to help even though the hours on yelp said they were closed on the weekend. Not only did Jim call me directly shortly after I emailed him to inquire about his services, but he also met me at his shop on Saturday morning even though he was normally closed. He had the engraving finished in plenty of time for my anniversary and was very easy to connect with via phone and email, since I had not quite made up my mind on what I wanted to say on the engraving. He let me pick out the font and feel very involved in the process. I was also extremely pleased with the price and cannot recommend him highly enough. I hardly write reviews on Yelp. If something is very good or really bad......that's normally the only times I will write a review. So on Thursday morning I brought a Yeti cup here for engraving (it is now Tuesday morning). When I dropped the cup off there was an older gentleman helping me. I made sure before I left I texted him all the information that would help him to engrave the Yeti. There were images and he showed me on his phone that he had received them before I left. The gentleman said the Yeti would be ready for pick up on Monday morning and a template of the final design would be texted to me for my approval. Sounds like a well ran establishment to me, so I agreed and left. Thursday goes by, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and here we are on Tuesday with no text. I say to myself.....maybe because it was clear and specific what I asked for (plus they have the visual images) they just didn't bother to text me. Then I had to ask myself, well if that was the case, why haven't they texted me to say the Yeti was ready for pick up? Now I'm thinking to myself that this is not a good sign. I drive up there and see the gentleman who helped me and another guy. So this other guy asks can he help me and I tell him I was there to pick up my Yeti, but nobody ever sent me a text to confirm the template. Deer in the headlights is what I got from him. I explained that I had sent a text to what I believed was the office cell used for business, but I'm guessing it was the cell phone of the older gentleman. Once I figured that out then the older guy pulled out his phone, I sent him a text, and there was everything I sent him. Deer in the headlights look again. This older gentleman says he dropped the ball (Captain Obvious), but that they could have the cup ready in a couple of hours. Now, I know things happen, but my complaint is that if I never came up here I never would have heard anything from them. It's not like my Yeti was getting worked on, neither guy had the slightest clue of what I was talking about when I came in. I am pretty flexible when it comes to these types of things, but nobody even reached out to me to say they dropped the ball and would work on it soon.....my order was completely disregarded. I left my cup inside because they tell me it will be ready in 2 1/2 hours. They call me in the time frame they stated, but guess what? The back of the cup does not look like the picture I showed them. I look at these individuals (by now I realize the older gentleman is the owner) and tell them I did not get what I paid for. He gives me my money back and apologizes. He said it was probably because he was rushing the order. I should probably asked for a new Yeti, but oh well. He said that he hopes I give him another chance in the near future. I think I will pass. The thing is I deal with youth sports organizations here in the area and am always looking for trophy/plaque companies. They just helped me to NOT consider them for this service. I'm sure every experience is not like this........this was just mine. read more
