Before you read about my horrifying experience with Dr. Igor Lubaev, DDS, why don't you read about how his dental license was put on probation for two years, for, among other things, a "substandard root canal," then you can read about my substandard wisdom tooth extraction: https://ilesonline.idfpr.illinois.gov/Lookup/PrintLicenseDetails.aspx?cred=254881&contact=232457 -- this is a matter of public record. Consider all of this before letting this man anywhere near your teeth.
Dr. Igor Lubaev, DDS managed to turn a routine $175 wisdom tooth extraction into an urgently needed $2500 surgery on my sinus.
He then had his receptionist, who is not a dentist or an oral surgeon (even though she seems to think she has some sort of expertise to offer this kind of medical opinion), explain to me that it was not his fault. The bottom line is that I walked into the office of Dr. Igor Lubaev, DDS uninjured, my sinus was not full of blood, my face was not all bruised, and I did not require $2500 worth of urgently needed surgery. I walked out of the office of Dr. Igor Lubaev, DDS with all of this.
After an hour of Igor Lubaev shoving a metal extraction tool into my gums and teeth, he had managed NOT to extract the wisdom tooth and he was forced to take another x-ray to see what his handy work had actually done. He then told me that I needed to rush myself to an oral surgeon to have the tooth removed from my sinus asap. This became a medical necessity, a very expensive one, that would not have existed but for Igor Lubaev's inability to either: a) properly do the procedure, or; b) use the proper medical judgment to determine that he was unable to do the procedure himself and should not have even attempted to do so in the first place. The doctor that examined me after Igor Lubaev's botched extraction was pretty clear, this was the work of the dentist that tried to remove the tooth, despite Igor Lubaev's receptionist's claims to the contrary.
What really made me upset about the whole situation was Igor Lubaev's offices refusal to accept any responsibility for this. He had his receptionist explain to me that my tooth and sinus were already like this (seriously!), despite a before and after set of x-rays that show that Igor Lubaev had clearly done the damage here. She seemed to concede that I did not need this very expensive medical procedure before I visited Igor Lubaev, AND she admitted that after visiting Igor Lubaev that this had become something much more serious than just a routine wisdom tooth extraction. But yet somehow Igor Lubaev is not responsible, according to his receptionist, who really seems to think she is the expert here, and Dr. Igor Lubaev, DDS seems just fine with her just giving out her medical opinion out to patients like this. The receptionist even went so far to infer that I was actually lucky because Dr. Igor Lubaev, DDS did not charge me for the botched procedure and the additional x-ray he needed to take to determine what kind of damage he had inflicted (I have no reason to make this up, she actually mentioned this).
I understand that mistakes are made, but I don't appreciate it when one can't own up to them. I have more dental work that needs to be done, and I would have probably had stuck with Igor Lubaev if he would have done the right thing and owned his mistake here. Unfortunately this surgery has really put a strain on my budget, so now I can't really afford to get the additional dental work that I need among other things, such as much needed auto repairs, which is now going to prevent me from even getting to my job. Thanks Dr. Igor Lubaev, DDS. read more
