Chocolate shaped like cars, like guitars, like boobies, like houses. Oops, did that get in there? Yes, they have gag gift chocolates for the stag or hen partiers. And ice cream! Hand scooped or soft serve, topped with that chocolate that instantly freezes into a hard shell. Way cool! It's not far from the waterfront, so they get a good crowd of tourists in here.

He said just get one. With a beer, blueberry pie du lac St Jean, you can't go wrong! "It's a Boucherie next to a dollar store". "Just go" he said! Also mentioned was when it's the December holiday and Christmas time they need to prepare all their tourtière du Saguenay three months in advance as demand is so high. So my intrigue and curiosity was on super high alert!!! I was travelling with a cooler as I'm always looking for new food adventures. For sure I needed to stop by! We entered the store and the people there gave the look of you definitely are not from here! I explained what we were in search of and they showed us lots of local treats. Really they felt honoured we were told of their shop! One guy even spoke English to me (a rarity in the region). Fresh home made jams........Wow the strawberry when I brought home I wish I bought 4 more of! After perusing around I ended up buying three toutieres and some turkey jerky. This is the kind of place where I could seriously do some decent damage. The toutieres were in many different sizes and I bought some that were $12.49. Sure you may think expensive but these weighed like a brick. We froze them when we arrived home and I ate one tonight and it was fantastic. Big cubes of potato plus pork morsels, beef cubes and ground beef. It was a tad salty but overall a delicious meal. Easily enough for three hungry people or four moderate eaters. I'd consider it more of a cold weather comfort food but today it was delish! The turkey jerky was amazing. Not too salty and smoked turkey chunks very flavourful and meaty. Many other products were available. A full butcher shop plus seafood, jams jellies and other prepared delights like toutiere of salmon and chicken. If you are in the region and like food you must come here! If you don't you are missing out. It's an experience of a lifetime!

Note to Anglophones ~ they don't speak English here. Hey, that's ok, it's their country, but keep that in mind going in. I've found that once you get out of Montreal and Quebec City, most people speak French only. I was fortunate that my wife speaks some French. We ordered the mac n cheese, duck poutine, sausage platter, and Caesar salad. The mac n cheese was quite good. The sausage platter was very tasty, but petite for the price in my opinion. The duck poutine had an awesome flavor, but the fries were a little overdone. The Caesar salad had a very mild flavor, perhaps too mild, but I like my Caesar salad to be strong. It might just be my taste. I also tried one of their in house beers. I'd definitely recommend trying one if you visit. Overall, the food here is tres bien. Bar food in the US usually consists of fried everything, so this was a nice contrast. If you're in Saguenay, it is certainly worth a stop.

Walking through the town, we saw Smokey, but with all the Elvis memorabilia, we wondered if it was Memphis style bbq. It was exactly what we were looking for Quebec style (or Montréal style) smoked meat, like pastrami, but can I say this- as good or better than most. So juicy, cokes with three processes- according to the chef- cured, sous vide, and steamed! Was it delicious! They were so friendly, and So much meat I had to take off half to eat with a baguette!

This particular Tim's is especially busy for the drive-through crowd at 7:00 AM. Since I don't have a car, I was a walk-in customer for my few visits. Three fourths of the time, the counter clerk spoke excellent English. The other times, I was able to get my way through the order okay - "coffee" and "bagel" translate well - though I managed to "yes" to a supersized coffee. No biggie, it's their country and language. I'm just a visitor. Someone has delivered several copies of the local Saguenay newspaper for browsing. It's in French. No wi-fi.

This cute and dainty place has a great outdoor area for you to lounge around and enjoy your gelato, making it an amazing experience! The pricing of this place is very fair, and you can load up and try a variety of flavours given their big cup sizes. I ordered the four flavour size and happily chose blueberry, raspberry, strawberry and mango. In the Quebec region, blueberries are very popular and known to be the best, and the blueberry gelato did not disappoint. It was very fresh and tart and had a genuine fruit flavour. Mango and raspberry was the same. However, with strawberry, I could tell that it wasn't made with real fruit, but syrup or some artificial fruit. I would skip out on that flavour if I were you. I am a fruit lover myself, but they also had a wide selection of chocolate flavours! My friend got the Ferrero Rocher flavour and it was decadent and true to its name! I've had some of Vienna's best gelato, and this place can seriously match up to those flavours! Well done!
