Now that I'm retired, I've started a new project making side tables for relatives, friends and neighbors. I recently came across several pieces of wood that were salvaged from a barn and a factory. Two were pretty beat up and the third, a 6' board of cherry, was significantly warped. After searching all over for a place with machines that could accommodate the work, I lucked upon Iffland Lumber in Torrington. The staff was engaging, courteous and helpful. I was connected with Glenn who runs their shop. Because I'd traveled from New Haven he decided to immediately take on the work while I waited. He did a terrific job running the lumber through the planer and grinding machines. All 3 pieces came out beautiful. I was particularly impressed by the care he gave to the cherry board. And the cost? That too was incredible. I expected to pay far more. I highly recommend Iffland Lumber. They're a class act and they excel in customer service. read more
