Our family has been part of Method Schools since 2018. So much has changed, mostly positive, some…read morenegative. Method excels in offering extracurriculars, sports, events, AP, honors and advanced courses. They have Dehesa Method Sports Academy which is tailored towards athletes in San Diego county and they recently started The Academy at Method which is a dual enrollment program designed to offer students an early start in advancing their education by taking college courses while in high school. Method has a lot of potential to be a Blue Ribbon school or even a California Distinguished School. It is a K-12 charter school registered in the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified with the California Department of Education. The school primarily offers virtual instruction. Overall my daughter has mixed feelings about her education at Method. As a parent, I appreciate the school's variety of course offerings. I went to a very good high school in OC and I wanted the same for my daughter. If you're considering Method for your child, Method has a yearbook, offers prom, has several yearly events for K-8 and the 9-12 events are mainly led by the high school ASB. As of this review, to my knowledge, Method offers National Honor Society, Hope Squad, Yearbook, and several others high school led clubs. There are some problems that I hope Method improves on. Firstly, lack of transparency. Since Method is primarily online, there should be no question for students or parents on who is leading the school. At an in-person school, most students and parents know who the principal or vice principal is. Most of our time at Method, we didn't know who the principal was. They sometimes call that person the Head of Schools, but you don't know if it's for K-12 or 9-12. Either way, it adds to confusion and distracts from learning. Unfortunately, Method is extremely biased and has double standards. I've experienced this many times, so it's not an isolated issue. Method's administration and teachers don't always respond to an email. Conflict is a part of life and not a fun part; however, when issues need to be addressed, communication is important. Method gets an F in this area. They do not know how to deal with conflict, whether it is with students or parents. Regarding the double standards, the teachers and staff send out emails stating that their meetings are 'mandatory', but it is not fairly applied to all students. Whenever we're told a meeting is mandatory, it's pretty harsh language, 'required' would be more appropriate but nonetheless we attend the meeting. Other students that don't attend are still allowed to participate in the event even if they didn't attend the 'mandatory' meeting which isn't fair. That means the meeting wasn't mandatory after all. My daughter took a college class her junior year but was not given a weighted grade for that class.College classes are more challenging than highschool classes. Regarding AP testing. As of this review, Method does not offer in-person proctoring for their offered AP tests. We are so glad they offer AP tests. It really benefits students so I strongly advocate for it. Unfortunately, Method doesn't really understand how the AP process works. We were told the school would pay the AP testing fee, and we were ecstatic. However, that excitement was short-lived as we realized Method was only supposed to provide us with the College Board AP code, if they would be administering the test. This created a lot of confusion. Since they don't administer the test we had to find a local school with a seat available, and pay $90+ out of pocket for the test, removing the AP code Method gave us. I wish Method had an honor roll system. My daughter worked very hard in high school and achieved 4.0 a couple of semesters and over 3.5 in several other semesters, but didn't receive acknowledgment. She also achieved high scores on the CAASPP test in Science, Math, and English but received no acknowledgment. I've noticed the staff seems intent on doing everything alone without incorporating parents or students. I'm sure they're overwhelmed by doing that. They often speak to parents as if we don't know or understand anything, and they treat us all like we're children. We have valuable contributions. It's frustrating not being heard. I wish I could add more, but this unabridged version is already quite long. I will say the staff and administration is nice and well meaning but they way they do things is extremely frustrating and sometimes backwards. Even the transcript request method is frustrating. They used to include the entire K-12 transcript, and it was like pulling teeth just requesting high school years for the transcript. It shouldn't be like this, especially when it should be expected that colleges only want to see 9-12 grades, not elementary or middle school grades. There's no perfect school. I'm just sharing some of what we've experienced. The flexibility is what kept us there for so long.

Miss Alejandra and Miss Jessika are an absolute wealth of information to me and my husband. They take the time to help us mirror the Montessori style at home. They help us problem solve and strategize the best approach for behavioral issues we experience outside of the classroom. Caroline recommended excellent parenting books that are helping us improve our parenting techniques. I'm also grateful for the school's commitment to a peaceful and respectful atmosphere. There is a strong emphasis on emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and conflict resolution, which has positively influenced how my children interact both at home and in the world around them. If you are looking for a school that honors your child's individuality, inspires a lifelong love of learning, and creates a nurturing community, I can't recommend Peppertree Montessori enough. It has been a truly transformative experience for our family.

Something was wrong and the child's teacher was constantly talking down to us. Everything from not bringing the right food to water bottles etc. Our kids in the elementary program told us that the teachers were talking down to them and pitting them against other students. Teachers requesting alcohol for teacher appreciation week- and becoming visibly irritable that we didn't provide alcohol. Keeping alcohol on the school property where kids could access it. This school has so many issues. When we first began we had a wonderful teacher. And she eventually left, and we learned this was in large part because the teachers are also treated poorly . I'm concerned that this school is still operating. If you send your kids here, please know that if their behavior is concerning at home, or if they resist going, or are stressed- it's not just a phase or them getting older like we initially thought. Listen to your child. We saw immediately our children getting better after a month detox from this place- and never sent them back. Beware of this place. It's just a paycheck for most the staff there - your kids deserve better. Take the pay cut, bring your kids home, whatever you have to do to keep them home and safe. This is not the place.

Be aware- THEY DO NOT HAVE WEEKEND OR AFTER HOURS CARE LIKE THEY ADVERTISE. On your tour, note the green snot dripping out of every child's nose. Caretakers do not wipe noses, sanitize hands or sanitize the toys and surfaces in the room. Hand foot and mouth, lice, and respiratory infections are running rampant at this center due to poor sanitation standards. The building has been next to a lake for over twenty years and is likely riddled with mold. However, the holiday decorations seem to be of the most importance. You will often see your child's teacher scraping paint off the windows, rather than engaging with your child. Try and see past the glitz and glamour and watch for signs of neglect. Request without notice to watch your child's potential classroom, or current room, on the video cameras available to the staff only. They charge for Christmas and New Years weeks when they are closed. They close an average two days per month and charge you for them leaving you without care for your child. Other additional charges: Late payment fee, missed punch fee, late pickup fee, staff development days (tuition collected, school closed), activity fees, "donations" that are charged to your account for their tax deductions. Teachers arrive late, do not show up at all, or are called off to condense rooms together to save on payroll. Children are often not with "their" teacher and ratios exceed the legal limits. Employee cards and parent punches are later adjusted by staff to appear within the law. I was late to work a dozen times to work because there was not adequate care at drop off in the mornings. Just an empty room. I requested a credit on my child's account and was screamed at on speaker phone in the office at drop off by the owner Angelina Anton, far from an Angel, "no, and your family is no longer a fit for our center, you need to leave now". That's how they handled opportunities to improve, they remove them. If you're looking for a Christ centered Daycare, this is not it. They play Christian music and lie to your face. These folks are doing dark work. ..they advertise a ratio of 1:4 for toddlers and most days the ratio is 1:12 or more! Twelve toddlers for one person to feed, change diapers, supervise on a playground, and give individual attention to. Most teachers are there because they receive free or discounted care for their own children, who are prioritized whilst paying children are neglected. At both locations my child was neglected for an entire eight hour day, as an infant, and a toddler. No diaper change, no food, no water. The staff, including both Directors and assistant directors take zero accountability for their mistakes, because they don't want to be sued. The first week my infant was at this center, he was not strapped into his high chair and fell down three feet on to his head. I was not called, he was not taken to urgent care for possible brain bleed. Pediatrician confirmed he was injured, school changed their story multiple times to avoid accountability. This place is great if you don't care about your child's well-being. The adults who attended this center as a child twenty years ago, refuse to enroll their own children here. That speaks volumes.
