Ruidoso Lodge Cabins, oh how I would love to go back!…read more While we were there, we stayed in one of the Hidden Canyon cabins, which was so wonderfully remote. Tucked away between the foothills of the mountains, we got to experience a peaceful, quiet long weekend. There are only two other cabins on the road that ours was on, so the quietude really was palpable. In the mornings (we got up before our neighbors, apparently) it felt like we were the only two people in the whole world. Even though it was chilly, we would go out on the deck to enjoy our morning coffee (for him) and tea (for me) while listening to the creak of the trees, the chirp of birds, a distant woodpecker hunting for breakfast... it was just so lovely. Actually, the in-your-face nature reached a whole other level when we had a moment interacting with the local deer population. We were on our way to the car to head towards town, when we suddenly realized that there was a herd of deer wandering towards us. Not wanting to scare them with the car door sounds, we just stopped and stood completely still. We had expected them to just continue on their way, but they actually decided to stop and check us out. A few of them actually came right up to us and (I swear, I couldn't make this up!) licked our hands! (For the "pics or it didn't happen" people out there, please do see the pictures I've uploaded. Told you-- I couldn't make this up!) Regarding the cabin itself-- the amenities were everything we could have hoped for. The kitchen was immaculately cleaned and ready for us to make a meal in, the bathroom was lovely with its skylight and river stone shower, and the bed... well, it might have been just about the most comfortable bed the husband and I had ever slept in. Not kidding! Honestly, I can't do this place any justice by writing about it. You'll just have to go take a look at the pictures, or better yet, go stay for a weekend yourself! This place is very sad and depressing. They not spending anything on taking care of the yard, no flowers, no upkeep on the cabins. It's a rustic but very nice, if not luxurious "cabin", although it's furnished like a home! It has 3 bedrooms including a master bedroom with a master bedroom bathroom. One of the rooms has bunk beds which my kid and grand kids loved! The main bathroom has a massive jacuzzi tub! The kitchen is fantastic and includes granite counter tops, a full size stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and it's fully stocked with everything you need to cook. There's even a full size washer & dryer which came in handy! The cabin is furnished with free WiFi, an HD TV, Blu-Ray Player and a small assortment of DVD's. The TV has some smart features including Netflix. The front porch is great. We spent a nice afternoon from the porch watching the rain. The back yard, and deck are wonderful, as they are furnished with a tables, chairs a fantastic hot tub, and BBQ Grill. The fenced back yard is great for the kids to explore and run around. When we were not out and about doing activities in town and the surrounding area, the cabin was a welcome fully furnished get away to relax, enjoy home cooked meals, play cards, watch TV, get in the hot tub, and even sleep. We made some great memories, including a visit from the local deer which come pretty close. On top of all that my granddaughter left a pair of blue jeans behind and they were kind enough to call me and insisted upon mailing them back. Now that's great customer service. I would definitely recommend this cabin. It' a bit of a windy, uphill drive to the cabin, but well worth it.

Towels had holes in them. Dried, old food around the house on the carpet. The hot tub only fits 4 vs the 8 they advertised. Everything but the flat screen tv in the living room is out of date. The pilot switch on the fireplace is finicky and after calling management for 24 hours, they finally sent someone to fix it. I can't figure out how to sleep 13. We only counted 11 spots. The location was great. Ruidoso was wonderful. I highly suggest Casa Rio pizza.

August 2014 - We rented Bear Country Cabin for a Friday thru Sunday stay. Checking is 4pm and…read morecheckout is 10am. At the last minute, we decided to extend to Monday. They worked with us and extended the trip with no issues. The rental was straight forward and the details of what was expected of us and what was at the cabin was all spelled out ? I got our deposit back about 2 weeks after the trip. The cabin is listed as a 3 bedroom. It has a normal size bedroom downstairs, one large master upstairs and a very small room with a fold out bed. Worked for our son and two GrandKids. Probably not for me and my wife. Master was large and roomy but it is an open air concept? So the balcony is over the living room. If a party is going on downstairs....you'll hear it in the master! The cabin was ok...needs a little TLC if it were mine! Great views of the woods behind the cabin. We had deer in the yard all 4 days. The hot tub is great! Deck has a dining table and bbq grill. Not fancy but very useable. The pool table is on a 1degree slope... Internet kept going down so we resorted to our Verizon MiFi. Lots of parking..we gad three full size cars there. The deck & hot tub are private except for a next door neighbor. Views were great with two hummingbird feeders and lots of birds using them. Location is very convenient to town. Take a backroad to Inn of the Mountains. If it were just the two of us, we'd probably rent again. With two sons plus family & GrandKids, we would probably look for something larger and maybe a little upscale next time. We had a great time. Casinos, eating out, drive up the ski area...and don't bet on Crypthasarrived ( race horse)...you'll loose your $40 bucks!

We booked "Cedarside Cabin K9 Friendly" for a long-planned family trip, expecting a clean, modern getaway. Instead, we arrived to find a severely neglected house that has clearly skipped basic sanitation for months. The guest towels were covered in deep yellow and brown stains, the kitchen was caked in structural grease, and the master bedroom box spring was completely broken and caved in, forcing us to sleep on literal metal springs. We paid almost $400 a night for this rental with their fees. It was outrageous. Worse than the broken furniture is the active public health hazard inside this property. The mechanical ceiling fan blades are blanketed in thick, caked black grime that forcefully flings historical dust and insect debris directly into the air. Crucially, the bathroom features what appears to be visible, active mold colonies festering along the baseboards. This toxic environment triggered an acute respiratory emergency for an asthmatic and autoimmune-compromised family member, causing her breathing to deteriorate. We desperately wanted to leave, but we were logistically trapped: the entire village of Ruidoso was at 100% capacity for the XTERRA festival with zero vacancies, and we could not safely execute a 4-hour drive back with an exhausted family. We were forced to endure these hazardous conditions just to have shelter. We remained outside for most of the time and kept doors open at times because of the odor. The moment we got home, our family member had to immediately get onto her prescribed emergency medical rescue nebulizer to stabilize her lungs. When we contacted management, their response was insulting. They casually dismissed active mold, structural damage, and filthy linens as mere "housekeeping concerns," hiding behind an absurd contract clause about mountain spiders to evade liability. They then abandoned us entirely, stating their office was closed for the weekend. A formal public health and code violation complaint has been officially lodged with the Village of Ruidoso Short-Term Rental Code Enforcement office, and a complete credit card fraud dispute is underway. We also notice that in a few pictures it seems that AI may have been used. Please be very wary. This company is refusing to give us back our funds, but seeing as we work with and for law enforcement and local DA, we will be seeking this alternative route should they choose not to follow through with a refund. They stated the house was cleaned and inspected and up to order. Do these pictures really show that? This company is abhorrent and rated one of the lowest cabin rentals we've you search reviews on sites other than VRBO.
