We began by meeting at a local cafe, where she brought her portfolio and got a feel for how we wanted our event to be captured. She has a creative, unique eye, and her pictures reflect this. She doesn't produce the cookie cutter, cheesy wedding pics of old (though she'll do that, too, if Mom wants a few of those). We had originally scheduled an engagement session; the contract was signed in Nov. come January we hadn't heard from her and time was running out. That said, I got caught up in the holidays and wasn't on top of her either. We scheduled a day and due to a death in the family she had to reschedule; only she never called us back for a new date. So as our wedding quickly approached I called and she informed me she had been back at work for 2 weeks. So why not call? anyway. . . she refunded us for the engagement session. On the day of the wedding she was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was really attentive to us and took pictures of all that we asked her to. I can say that she worked her butt off that day. BUT. . . When we got our pictures back they were mediocre at best. I was really disappointed. they were sort of ok. I guess you get what you [pay for. We have enough to make a wedding album and we're not photogenic people, but it was day I felt pretty and my pictures of it weren't. I will also say that she was a week + late getting our pictures to us because of a family death. so either this was a really bad few months for her or. . . of the 600 or so pictures maybe 90 are useable.

Like, I expect to meet this person and they're just ridiculously hyper all the time. Squealing at every little thing. I digress. Too much. I give PhotoBeats a 5, because they are great people, and work very hard on making sure you have great memories for your event. My organization booked them for a gala, and it was a blast having their photobooth out. Both children and adults (non-profit youth agency, of course our gala's going to have children!) enjoyed posing and taking pictures at their booth! Each shot allows for 4 different pictures, and you have about 5 seconds to run around in a new pose. Quite amusing to see grown-up's playing a mini-version of a Chinese Fire drill (minus the car). They keep all those pictures in a file that you get at the end, so you can be a part of memories you weren't a part of. I've been to other booths where the screen was so sensitive that just walking in will start the darn thing. Umm...I don't need to have a photo of my friend's butt as we're walking in the photo area....mmmkthanks! Clearly, I like the booth the best. They also have excellent photographers, running around documenting your event. After the photos, they must pour hours into editing and making sure nothing is out of place. Like, for real. If there's even a brown leaf in an otherwise brilliant green tree, they'll get rid of it. They have a DJ you can hire to do music at your event, and afterwards? Yeah, photobooks and other keepsakes to remember whatever event you hired them for. Oh, and did I mention they're affordable? Usually folks like to charge an arm and a leg (or torso) for the convenience of having so many services in one place. PhotoBeats? They know how to be competitive AND professional!

However they did have the best pricing so perhaps we got what we paid for.

With a winning personality and soothing demeanor, Julio put me at ease and used creative prompts to change my expression and help me relate to the camera in a way that I've been unable to before. This guy is like some kind of Jedi master or something, drawing out a side of me and a look that I didn't know existed. And then, on the back end, Julio demonstrated a great eye and insightful artistic sensibility. He helped me choose images that I might not have and retouched them in a way that made me look better than I think I really do. And all for a price that was super cheap for what I got. Ed explained that he was dealing with some personal challenges at the time and he owned that he completely dropped the ball. Ed brought with him a flash drive memory stick that contained all of the digital pics that he had taken from the wedding, as well he gave us an amazing hardcover book that he had made of the wedding event. In the end, I truly feel that Ed was sincere in his apology and that he has "right sized" his business to a level that he can keep up with....so I would not hesitate to use him again, as his work is amazing!

When I found Sarah's portfolio I was delighted and immediately knew I wanted to work with her. This was a fantastic decision and I would unequivocally recommend her as a wedding photographer. We spent 12+ hours together over the course of pre-wedding couple portraits, rehearsal picnic, and the day-of. I didn't think ahead of time about how much time that is to spend with a stranger, but after a very short time she didn't feel like one. She's warm, cheerful and professional.
