We purchased a modular home to be installed on a foundation on our farm. Everyone who worked at Ideal Homes was friendly and knowledgeable. The home itself came in as advertised and within budget and we love, love, love it! We highly recommend them. read more

Horrible people. They will lie to you until the deal is done. If you purchase a brand new home, they hire inadequate workers to assemble the 2 halves together and to do the finishing work. My brand new home ended up having 6 mobile home building code violations. Over the first 5 years in my brand new home, I had 3 floods from pipes breaking, 1 fire from faulty kitchen wiring, my front porch collapsed while trick or treaters were standing on it, and my entire heating system blew out due to a major code violation. All of these were verified code violations. Every single time that I have to get something repaired, the contractor finds a code violation. I will never buy from Ideal Homes and I would never recommend them. There is no use trying to communicate with them. Like I said, once escrow closes, you're on your own, pal. They don't care about people. read more

Adam Viguers was our salesperson with Ideal Homes. Ours was a different situation as we were selling a property during the height of Covid. I can't say enough positive about our experience with Adam! He was able to take care of many arrangements that we just couldn't do from a distance, in preparation of listing the house for sale. He followed through on every detail, with kindness and patience. Thanks to Adam's attention to detail, we were able to sell the property in a timely manner. read more

We have been in our new home for 2 months now, and we absolutely LOVE IT! The team at Ideal homes, John, Ashley, and Neil, are amazing. They helped us every step of the way. They walked us through picking out and designing our home. They truly are experts at this. We were replacing our older unit and they let us walk through some homes they were in the process of building, to give us the real feel of the floor plan and size we wanted. Once we picked everything out and got our financing in place we were ready to go. We needed to move out of our home by March 1st, 2020. Everything was moving along quite fast. They took the old place out and prepped the lot in no time. Then out of nowhere COVID 19 lockdown. The team at Ideal homes communicated with us every day or whenever they had an update for us when things would get back on track. So after a short delay, at no fault of Ideal homes, they started putting the new place in, wow what a process! Their different crews worked fast and left the job site super clean every single day. Finally, the day came for us to get the keys and move in. We were out a bit longer then we had planned for due to COVID 19. Ideal Homes was so gracious they paid for the last week of our Air BnB. Once we got all moved in, as to be expected, there were a couple of things that needed some adjusting and touch-ups and they have been right on top of it. We are so happy that we chose Ideal Homes to purchase our home through. we look at a few other places but we felt these people truly cared about us as costumers. And our home is amazing we love it so much! Thank you so much, John, Ashly, and Neil. read more

We could not be happier with our Ideal Home. John and Ashley Barrs - and their team - have been terrific. When we first began talking about our dream to build our home, John and Ashley were welcoming and encouraging - and they never changed throughout our journey. We had many custom wishes and changes, and John always had a can-do attitude with terrific ideas. Ashley never failed to respond quickly to every call and email. We always felt cared about and supported. We have been in our beautiful home now for almost 2 years, and are totally grateful every day. Even when we have had questions, they continue to be quick to help and serve. We can't thank John, Ashley, and their team enough. read more

These guys are great! I would totally refer family and friends to them with no reservations. We worked with John Barss and he was always available for questions, suggestions, and to clarify the whole process for us. He made what could have been a totally stressful process into a pleasure. As two women, we were happily surprised at the sense of respect and comfort we felt working with John and Neil. John's wife Ashley, as the person who always greets you first as you come into the office, was warm and kind, a bright light in our day. We had purchased a small single wide mobile home, built in the early sixties, in a park in the Pleasure Point area, hoping to replace it with a new double wide. The first local manufactured home company we contacted had come out to measure the space and had told us we couldn't fit a double wide without moving the utilities and the driveway, an expensive prospect. We were disappointed, to say the least, but decided to try another company, expecting the same outcome but not wanting to give up on our dream. We called Ideal and John and Neil came out to measure that day. John, whom we ended up working with, told us he could fit a double wide on the space. We were so happy! We are now living in the beautiful new home. It came out so much better than we expected! We couldn't be happier, and we definitely not only attribute the wonderful outcome in large part to John and Ideal Homes, but would do it all over with them, were the situation to arise again. read more

First I just want to say that it was a wonderful and exciting time in our life to be able to create our dream and forever home from scratch with the help of the amazing agents of Ideal Homes. I met Ideal Homes agents a few years ago on my own and was in good communication with them for the last couple years on our situation and always communicated to them that a manufactured home would be a great option. The agents at Ideal are very knowledgeable, caring, and go above and beyond. They don't just sell you a house, they help create what you want, how you want, and when you want. We sat with them to customize our house, giving us great opinions on how to make the home our dream house within a budget we set. From creating the kitchen, bedrooms, where we want windows, to flooring colors to the very end. The agents were even there to make sure the screen sliders were installed correctly, to touch up paint, and more; they know about realtor information and beyond! They give info that isn't surprising all the way through the process. I would recommend them for anyone looking into a manufactured home; the homes are built to last! All I can say is Ideal is GREAT! Not only do we have an amazing house but we befriended some pretty awesome people. Thanks Ideal Homes! read more

John is seriously a life saver. I have been working with another dealer for over 2 years trying to get permits and we finally got to the point of being ready to order the home and I kept getting a run around from the other dealer. John was referred to me by my contractor and got the home finalized, ordered and scheduled from the factory in less then a week with some of the changes the other dealer said could not be done. He is truly saving out behinds. Take my advice and just pick Ideal homes as your dealer in the first place. My only mistake was not picking them from the start 2 years ago. read more

I highly recommend Ideal Homes especially Janet Wooldridge to anyone buying, selling, or trading a manufactured home. When I was laid-off due to COVID-19 I decided to leave my home town of Santa Cruz for over 50 years to be near my son and daughter-in-law in Chico, CA. From that first phone call with Janet, inquiring if they still purchase during COVID-19, to how easy the transaction was Ideal Homes went above and beyond allowing me extra time to stay in my home, paid me early so I could purchase a new home, and Janet and her husband Dave, packed my items I couldn't fit in the U-Haul and drove them to me in Chico. During this whole process I was treated like a family member and have gained a new friendship. Thank you Ideal Homes, Owner John, Janet and Dave for making my transaction of leaving Santa Cruz to be near my family the right decision. I will be forever grateful. read more

The quality of Ideal Homes' product and service was far better than we had hoped for. From our first meeting with the amiable Neil Porsch, sales manager, our desires were heard and acted on. Creative solutions to challenges were always offered. The crews were knowledgeable and showed pride in workmanship. My personal property and surrounding landscape were treated with care. The many talents of Neil Porsch were instrumental in creating our beautiful new home. We are very very happy and can't help but encourage our neighbors to follow suit. read more

I would avoid using this this company, or at a minimum, make sure you hold money back in escrow until the punch list is completed. He was very patient, and all about service until he got paid. The end product was generally well done, however, once he had his money, it was like pulling teeth to get him out to finish some poorly done work. The punch list remains uncompleted until this day. In all fairness, some of the poor workmanship was done by his subcontractors, but at the end of the day, he was the general contractor on the job and responsible for getting the job done right. read more

We have bought and sold quite a bit of real estate over the years but have never had a better real estate experience than with Ideal Homes -- and with Neil Porsch in particular. In selling our home, Neil listened to our needs, posed constructive and realistic alternatives and, once we developed a strategy for putting our home on the market, Neil executed the sale flawlessly. We were particularly pleased with the way Neil kept us informed constantly and how he worked collaboratively with the buyer's agent. Neil expeditiously handled the contingencies process and coordinated everything so that we could meet our tight time constraints in moving into a wonderful San Diego retirement community. We could not recommend Ideal Homes more highly to anyone buying or selling into the Santa Cruz county manufactured home market. read more

This was our first experience buying a home and it was the complete opposite of what we had expected. John and Neil made our first time home buying process easy and enjoyable. We came into the office not knowing anything about manufactured homes and after sitting down with Neil for a few hours it was clear to us that this process was going to be fun! They were able to handle everything we had asked for or needed in our new home! I felt like we were treated more like family than a customer and it made for a really good experience. I would highly recommend anyone trying to buy a new home in the Santa Cruz area to stop in and chat with the staff at Ideal homes. We have been in our home for three months and are still in contact with Ideal homes. They are still willing and able to help out with any questions or concerns we have for our home. John (the owner) has personally came out and answered any questions that have came up, even after the purchase was completed! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! read more

We were looking for a manufactured home and a space to put it in a senior park. We were dealing with another company in town and getting nowhere. Then we found out about Ideal Homes in Capitola and we are so glad we did! John Barss , the owner found us a lot in the park we really wanted to be in, and we got to design the home with his help. We moved in 2 weeks ago and he has been there for us from day 1! If there is a problem, he fixed it. He calls us back right away. The home is our dream home! Beautiful! If I suggested a change in plans, he was there to help us see if it was a good idea. His staff was excellent! Do yourself a favor and tour the inside of their model home in Capitola on Bay Ave. you won't be sorry! And so affordable!!! We have made new friends at Ideal Homes! read more

I LOVED working with Ideal Homes! The staff was incredible, especially Neil Porsch. He worked with us to get the exact home we wanted at the right price. He was very flexible and communicated with us every step of the way. The home was delivered and completed in the time frame we were given. It's beautiful and we couldn't be happier. I would recommend this company to whoever is looking for a new home - they were a pleasure to work with. read more

I recently decided to purchase a Manufactured Home in Rodeo Gulch Estates in Soquel. Ideal Homes sign was showing and since it was close by, I stopped in to talk to them. Best decision I could have made. No hard sell, which is always important to me. They were replacing the home that was presently on the site with a new one. I was able to choose everything I wanted from the size, color, floors, you name it, they did it for me. What they said they would do, they always did. Make a change? That's fine. Add something...great we can do that.....Flexible....always. Not only was I ecstatic with the final product, but I made some new friends there. Even though the sale has been completed, and I've been living here for two months now, they have made it clear that I can call if I have concerns or problems. They are always there for me. I am totally pleased and happy in my new home thanks to Ideal Homes. Go for it. You'll love it. DT read more

I just completed a new manufactured home purchase with Ideal Home and I couldn't be happier. I worked with Adam Viguers and he was absolutely great to work with!! He was responsive without being pushy; offered wonderful suggestions along the way; and was very patient with me during the design process. Their costumer service was superb and I even took them up on the option to visit my home, while in production in Sacramento. It was an asolutely incredible experience! In addition, I was very happy with their onsite construction company JMC and, in the end, thrilled with my new home. I highly reccomend the friendly professionals at Ideal Homes! read more

I recently purchased a home through Ideal Homes in Capitola. My salesperson was Cassius Coffey. With his help and the help of the owner, John, we designed the most beautiful house I have ever lived in. I was able to stay in the same park I have lived in for 18 years. Everything is exactly what I wanted and the home fits my personality perfectly. John and his team at Ideal Homes were beside me every step of the way and still are if I need anything. I truly consider them my heros! Everything, including financing my new home, getting the permits, talking to the park manager, knowing what to do to make my dream come true, they handled. My home is wonderful and I owe it all to Ideal Homes in Capitola. Anyone who asks, I recommend John and his crew to make a new dream come true for someone else. THANKS AGAIN, JOHN, ASHLEY, CASSIUS AND NEAL. read more
