The core philosophy is you can be at ANY level of dance and come out of your first class with a smile, a good sweat, and a little pep in your step. After being absent for almost a year due to a knee injury, I returned to Adam's class 4 weeks ago. Through zero fault of Adam, I was so excited and pushed myself that I went home after class exhausted and seeing floaters shaped like lightning bolts!!! Amazing! Sure it's 25 minutes down a one way street, but man, if that turned into two lanes in a blue moon, I'd be 15 minutes away from a great Thursday night dance class. I am beyond thankful to have a class closer to home, since this has added and aided in my fitness goals and allowed me to live my almost secret dancing dreams. While I am a Zumba instructor, moving from your safe zone of repeating dance steps, to a full on dance class is beyond intimidating (especially since I do think I spaz-out more than dance most of the times). Luckily, Adam is a patient, energetic, funny and kind instructor. He is a great dancer, and wonderful at breaking down the steps intuitively that makes it very easy to follow. Did I mention that he's quite encouraging as well? I credit this class and the Groov3ment for helping me become a more agile person. Dancing in these classes have helped me lean up, intensify my own Zumba classes, and challenged me t use my new found understanding of how my body moves, to other interests. I'm more confident when I dance and teach in my classes, and have found it much easier to practice my guitar playing. What else could one ask for? She has made close, life-long friendships and has an incredible mentor in the owner, Cassandra Daurden whom I admire greatly. The performances are professional and spectacular to watch. I can't even believe the aerial skills and singing voices that come from these kiddos! They are not your everyday kids dance recitals, they are stunning top-notch performances. If you're new to the Playground here are some tips: - come early to find parking. Yes there's limited meter parking, but there are streets that let you park from 8-8pm without a permit for 2 hours - bring water you will sweat! - you can walk in with a bag of your clothes and additional shoes since they have dressing rooms - come with a friend if you're shy and so they can record you if you want - make sure your phone is charged so you can ask someone to record what you learned - remind yourself that you're here to have fun! You can get in your head when so many around you are so good and comfortable. Also, instructors usually get dancers at the end to dance with them for videos and it can feel like youre not good when they don't choose you but remember: you're there for fun

Sarah is funny and entertaining making ballet super fun- she critiques in a gentle manner and strives to improve everyone's dancing. Her routines are fun, the music is great and she'll always make time to answer any questions you have before, during and after classes. I have also gone to Bill's jazz classes on the weekends sporadically- not as often as I would like. His routines are amazing and music choices are always great. It doesn't matter if you fall behind- he wants you to have fun. That being said, he'll repeat sections if you ask. Both instructors are always happy to see their students and the pricing is some of the best in Los Angeles. The workouts are fantastic as well; I always leave feeling refreshed and I always leave feeling like I want to come back and improve my dancing.

Looks like they have a good handle on navigating current COVID restrictions. They have a 12-15 person limit and masks are required. They also provide a spray bottle of disinfectant and a towel to clean up after using. I'm not sure what's in the bottle but I assume it's disinfectant. The weights and other equipment are outside and you are able to get some sun while working out. The weights are a little old but they add to the gym vibes. They have punching bags but masks make it extremely difficult to hit the bag without the mask getting soaked. The gym promotes diversity and inclusion for everyone. it's a pretty chill gym.

The weekends are a bit difficult to find parking with multiple churches and lots of restaurants around the school. There are tv monitors so you can watch your child while they're in class. There are lots of places to sit inside and outside while you wait for your child. Class sizes are fairly small. The cost is typical of LA prices. We take classes in another city as well and the cost is $40 less/month, however, class sizes in affordable studios also have triple the amount of students.
